HRV Chairman Dale Monteith welcomed the report’s tabling and praised the industry for its resilience during a difficult year.
“With bushfires over summer and then the COVID-19 pandemic, it was a challenging year for Victoria. I have been extremely proud of the harness racing industry for the way it banded together and worked collaboratively to continue racing. This meant we were able to sustain the approximately 4367 full-time equivalent jobs that harness racing provides throughout the state,” Mr Monteith said.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank the state government for its commitment and ongoing support to harness racing in Victoria.”
