Apply now: Exciting opportunity in France for a Victorian driver

Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) is pleased to announce a late invitation for a Victorian to drive in the Coupe Intercontinentale des Amateurs at Vincennes, France, on Saturday 24 January 2026 – the day before the prestigious Prix d’Amérique.

The successful applicant will not only get the chance to drive in the race, but experience the prestigious Prix d’Amerique meeting the following day.

HRV is calling for nominations of interested drivers, and will subsidise a portion of the travel costs to assist the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

The Coupe Intercontinentale des Amateurs features 14 drivers, including 11 French, two other Europeans and, for the first time, an Australian, with horses randomly assigned once fields are finalised.

The unique race is for amateurs, meaning to be eligible, drivers must have had at least 100 race drives with 25 wins, and have other means of income (not just from race driving).

Applicants must:

  • Hold a current A Grade drivers’ licence and have resided and been licensed in Victoria for at least six of the past 12 months
  • Be aged 18–35 years as of 1 January 2026
  • Have demonstrated proven ability to drive trotters
  • Have maintained an excellent integrity record (no serious offences pending), including behaving in line with HRV’s Code of Conduct
  • Hold a valid Australian passport with at least six months before expiration at the time of travel
