Ballarat district breeder Bruce Edward boasts a proud record in Victoria's rich Vicbred Super Series in Victoria.

He has won five Vicbred trophies over the past six seasons with horses the calibre of Tam Major (4YO horses and geldings – 2019), Ideal For Real (4YO horses and geldings – 2016), Petacular (2YO filly – 2016) and Kualoa (2YO filly – 2018, 3YO filly – 2019).

But the managing owner of Durham Park Standardbreds is certainly not one to rest on his laurels.

And this year, numerically, he holds one of his strongest hands ever in the prestigious year-ending Group 1 series for two, three and four-year-old pacers and trotters to be conducted at provincial tracks and Melton.

Edward is likely to have up to 10 pacers contest the championships from the Emma Stewart/Clayton Tonkin barn.

“This year, we’re looking forward to Talk Time and Heavenly Sign running in the very competitive three-year-old fillies’ series, with Act Now, Beyond Delight and Narutac Prince in the four-year-old colts and geldings,” Edward said.

Other Vicbred nominations from Durham Park include the four-year-old mare Kekoa, the three-year-old fillies Constant Class and Whatadelight, and the two-year-old fillies Sweet Bella and Tequila Delight.

Three of this year’s Durham Park entry are siblings to past Vicbred champions. Kekoa is a sister to Kualoa, Tequila Delight a half-sister to Petacular and Talk Time a half-sister to Act Now.

“I look forward to racing my horses in the Vicbred Super Series every year," he said. "We have enjoyed success in the series in the past, with horses including Ideal For Real, Kualoa, Petacular and Tam Major, with the 2016 two-year-old fillies’ final being particularly memorable with Petacular and Perfect Sense running the quinella."
