The drivers brought the heat and Bulletproof Boy produced the winning punch in a blistering final of the All In One Property Mercury80.

The race was shaped when polemarker La Puddie ripped from the gates and held out favourite Cash N Flow, with Greg Sugars parking Jack Callaghan in the breeze in a lightning 26.1sec first quarter.

There was only modest respite through the middle of the race (27.9sec quarter) before the challenges started to come, with Bulletproof Boy last at the 600-metre mark but first to launch three-wide.

With 100 metres to go in the 1200-metre dash he had found the front and Scott Ewen and his star pacer saluted by 1.3 metres from Huli Nien, with Ozzie Battle filling out the placings.

“When I saw Cash N Flow come out and they were kicking up I thought beautiful,” Ewen told TrotsVision. “He had to sit parked and (Bulletproof Boy) went sensational. He just kept going.”

Bulletproof Boy produced the quickest middle quarter and snatched the win despite travelling the most distance of any runner.

The 81.6sec total time was just outside the 81.5sec that Always Fast set in winning the final of the inaugural Mercuy80.
