Imported European millionaire trotter Callmethebreeze has officially retired to stud, joining the internationally acclaimed Yabby Dam Farms and Haras des Trotteurs stallion roster in 2025.

A son of Trixton, Callmethebreeze retires as a multiple Group 1 winner in both Europe and Australia, with 18 career victories and earnings of $1.777 million.

The French-bred seven-year-old was purchased by Haras des Trotteurs principal Pat Driscoll in 2023, with the plan to race him before standing him at stud.

During his Australian campaign, Callmethebreeze won six of 11 starts, beating some of Australasia’s best trotters. His major victories include the 2024 Group 1 Great Southern Star at Melton and the 2024 Group 1 Hammerhead Mile at Menangle. He recorded his quickest Australian time of 1:53.1 in the Great Southern Star final.

Callmethebreeze had memorable battles with the legendary Just Believe, finishing second to him in his Australian debut at the Group 2 Knight Pistol and defeating him in the Great Southern Star final. He also placed a close second in New Zealand’s inaugural TAB Trot at Cambridge.

Showing versatility, Callmethebreeze won the Group 3 Kilmore Trotters Cup (3150m) coming off a 30-metre handicap, sitting parked the trip to defeat Acree Phoenix by 10 metres. His racing career began in Italy, where he won the prestigious Group 1 Gran Premio Orsi Mangelli for three-year-olds.

His sire, Trixton, is a US-bred son of Muscle Hill, who was a winner of the 2013 Hambletonian and recorded a mark of 1:50.6. Callmethebreeze is out of Gilly LB Ita, a multiple Group 1 winner at two. She is a 100 per cent producer, with 10 foals for 10 winners including eight that have earned over $100,000.

His three-quarter brother Ginostrabliggi (Muscle Hill) (t:1:55.7) is considered one of the best three-year-old’s in Europe in 2025, with over $542,577 career earnings.

Callmethebreeze’s exceptional qualities have been recognised by many in the industry, including former driver Nathan Jack.

“What an athlete! So imposing and beautiful to look at and even better to sit behind him. Great gait and amazing will. His Great Southern Star final is one final I will never forget,” Jack said.

Trainer Andy Gath also reflected on his former stable star.

“Callmethebreeze had the most perfect gait (when he didn’t have a quarter crack), unbelievable high speed and an undeniable will to win. He also had the kindest nature of any horse I have ever trained,” he said.
