Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) issues this update following notification by the Department of Health (DH) that Tabcorp Park Melton has been listed as a multi-tier (Tier 1 and Tier 2) COVID-19 exposure site between 2.23pm and 5.30pm on Monday, August 2.

Tomorrow’s harness racing meetings

Due to the ongoing investigation being conducted by HRV and DH into the Tabcorp Park Melton August 2 meeting, tomorrow’s Charlton and Geelong harness racing meetings have been cancelled.

This decision is made out of an abundance of caution and in the interests of the health and wellbeing of the industry and the communities in which we race. Due to the complexities of distinguishing between Tier 1 and Tier 2 contacts, contact-tracers require more time to identify individuals.

An update on Friday and weekend meetings will be provided tomorrow. This decision will be based on advice received from DH and HRV contact-tracers.

The HRV Racing department will advise of any calendar amendments as a result of these meeting cancellations in due course.

Participants who attended Tabcorp Park Melton on August 2

Participants who attended Tabcorp Park Melton between 2.23pm and 5.30pm on Monday August 2 must adhere to all directions issued by DH. In addition participants must also follow any direction from HRV.

Any participant who attended the venue and has not received a text message from the Department of Health, is required to isolate, get tested immediately and complete the HRV COVID-19 reporting form at the time of being tested and upon receiving a test result.

Any participant identified by DH as a Tier 2 contact of a person with COVID-19 must isolate immediately and get tested. Once a negative test result has been returned, that participant must update the HRV COVID-19 reporting form prior to being granted entry to a Victorian licensed harness racing venue. Importantly, participants are required to fill in the HRV COVID-19 reporting form both at the time of being tested and upon receiving a test result.

Any participant identified by DH as a Tier 1 contact of a person with COVID-19 must isolate immediately and get tested, complete the HRV COVID-19 reporting form at the time of being tested and upon receiving a test result, and quarantine for 14 days (from August 2).
