SHEPPARTON 07/11/19

Trial 1: - BACARDI WOOD began quickly and was able to find the lead from the former pacer MISS MCMANUS, which was content to take a trail. MISS MCMANUS used the sprint lane and got very close in the latter stages but BACARDI WOOD did go to the post under a hard hold. BELLA CONTESSA (Imperial Count – Sunshine Paco) ran a nice trial into third position. She settled four back on the markers before moving up without cover from the 700m mark. She comes from a strong maternal family and she did battle on well at the finish. PATCHWORK ended up finishing fourth after settling three back on the markers. LORD LOHKI missed the start by approximately 40m and chased hard to tack on at the 1100m mark. He moved into the one out and one back trail behind BELLA CONTESSA at the 700m and just peaked late but it was a good performance. COMMAND ME made up many lengths after making an early error. He finished ahead of CINKARI and ITSARAPT, whom both made a mistake at the start.

Mile Rate: - 2.7.8             Final Half: - 63.10             Margins: - Head, 5m

Trial 2: - THE CRIMSON PRINCE is a smart horse and will win his share of races but his manners might be an issue. He came out of the gate under a strong hold and was trailing the leader HEAVEN IN LOCKSLEY early but he was pulling extremely hard and was forced to move around and find the lead. He settled a little better in the lead and was able to quicken appreciably in the final 500m to take out the trial. He did want to shift up the track a little in the final 100m. SHAKAHARI settled in the one out and one back trail and chased gamely for second. LA PLAYER followed SHAKAHARI and ran into third on the home turn. He peaked in the final 50m but it was still a nice trial effort in strong grade. MASTER MACH MANUS finished fourth after settling three back on the markers and getting passed HEAVEN IN LOCKSLEY in the home straight. SHOWGUN THOMAS couldn’t make too much ground out wide on the track from last and only beat SAMMARI (death seat) to the line.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.3             Final Half: - 58.50             Margins: - 3m, 5m

Trial 3: - The field of eight runners were strung right out as they were racing in single file. FRANKIE was quickly able to work passed CRESCO GERONIMO to find the top. TASMAN FLASH settled third in front of THEANGRYWIFE, TOPZAVSKI, SCREENTIME, ROSALEE DOT COM and LOUISIANA JO. FRANKIE ran along at a genuine tempo and had most of his rivals struggling a long way from home. He went to the line hard held to win by a large margin. TOPZAVSKI was the only horse to come away from the markers and he did a great job to pick up a lot of ground and finish second, well clear of CRESCO GERONIMO. They came in at long intervals and TASMA FLASH finished fourth ahead of SCREEN TIME (He’s Watching – Realexpectation 2.1.5, $26,768) and THEANGRYWIFE (In The Pocket – Mistylyn). Both LOUISIANA JO (Roll With Jo – Western Jazz) and ROSALEE DOT COM were yielding ground from the half mile marker and they were second last and last respectively.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.0           Final Half: - 61.0               Margins: - 15m, 15m

BLACKBOOKER: - Topzavski

Trial 4: - CUSTODIAN did everything right and appeared to be a lot sharper than his trial second behind Gap Year several weeks earlier when he scored comfortably in the final trial. He eased back to trail the leader SUPREME BANNER early and cruised passed in the home straight to win with something in reserve. HOLSTEIN settled three back on the markers and worked up onto the back of SUPREME BANNER coming up to the home turn. He was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished off well via the sprint lane in the latter stages. NATIONALDRAFT came from five back on the markers to pick up third in front of SUPREME BANNER. DYNAMIC LEGACY was last on the markers for the majority of the trial and picked up SKY CHICA (4 back markers) in the final stages.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.5             Final Half: - 60.2               Margins: - 5m, 3m

BACCHUS MARSH 09/11/19

Trial 1: - FLING IT ALL ABOUT was stood down to trial after his effort at Kilmore on August 08 and he took out the opening trial from ARU AND ME, which has been placed in two out of his past three starts. YANKEE VELVET finished in third position ahead of YERINGBERG.

Mile Rate: - 2.13.4           Final Half: - 64.4               Margins: - 12m, 2m

Trial 2: - LETS GO EXCLUSIVE is a lightly raced son of Caribbean Blaster, which hasn’t faced the starter since a fifth at Bendigo in June. He narrowly defeated the unraced gelding DAWN OFA NEW DREAM (Dawn ofa New Day – Real Dreamz) with MISTER GLEE (Mr Feelgood – Love You More) in third position. BONNY MACBETH finished fourth ahead of BLISSFULL SAPPHIRE (Blissfull Hall – Dark Blue Sapphire 1.57.1, $21,880).

Mile Rate: - 2.10.6           Final Half: - 62.0               Margins: - ½ head, 12m

Trial 3: - BETTER EXCLUSIVE hasn’t raced since an unplaced run in the 7-Eleven Cup back in July and obviously impressed with his easy trial victory. THE DEFIANT galloped shortly after the start and failed to finish with broken gear at Ballarat last outing. He finished second and was well ahead of THE CATALYST, which hasn’t raced for nearly a year. He finished ahead of CONFUSIONANDDELAY and DEADLY MARK finished last of the five runners.

Mile Rate: - 2.6.0             Final Half: - 60.9               Margins: - 20m, 30m

CRANBOURNE 9/11/19

Trial 1: - EXPRESS YOURSELF jumped to the front from the standing start and was unchallenged from the start. She drew well clear in the latter stages to win by a large margin. CAABELLO stepped away extremely slowly but maintained second position as PETITE LOVE galloped away. CAABELLO broke stride approaching the home turn, presenting PETITE LOVE with an inside run but he was able to recover and run into second again in the home straight.

Mile Rate: - 2.12.4           Final Half: - 59.7               Margins: - 20m, 15m

Trial 2: - HAIR RAZOR began reasonably and was able to angle into the one out and one back trail shortly after the start. He made a move coming out of the back straight with 400m remaining and was able to draw to the lead in the straight, winning softly at the end. WILL AND ANDY settled 3 back on the markers and raced very fiercely. He worked into the clear and followed HAIR RAZOR into the straight then batted away in the latter stages to just hold down second. ALLIYAHS CHOICE settled down in sixth and picked up late ground out wide on the track to be in a photo for second and third. PEPE OLE finished in fourth position after setting up a slow tempo. LAKEY LOU galloped away and dropped out to be a clear last. She was able to tack onto the group at the 1100m and was able to beat a couple of runners to the line. IT’S THE EMBLEM raced without cover throughout and beat CORA MOR (trailed leader) (Julius Caesar – Full of Aces 1.57.1, $20,181) in the run to the finish.

Mile Rate: - 2.8.4             Final Half: - 59.6               Margins: - 12m, ½ head

MOOROOPNA 10/11/19

Trial 1: - MISS GABBY OKANE (Stonebridge Regal – Ok Rita) was able to take out the opening trial at Mooroopna over SHEEZABAY (Alta Christiano – Pacific Made) with another unraced pacer FIRST ADVENTURE (Mr Feelgood – Rock Me Gently) finishing third. The winner MISS GABBY OKANE stems from a handy maternal family with the grandam How Sweet It Is (1.59.1, $26,428) producing two one hundred thousand dollars+ earners including the top mare All Eyes On Me (1.51.0, $349,926). MIGHTY BIG BOY was the only horse in the trial to have raced previously and he finished last of the four runners.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.8             Final Half: - 63.6               Margins: - 1m, 12m

Trial 2: - HIGH FLUX hasn’t started since having two unplaced starts back in June but he took out the final trial comfortably over HYPERVIGILANT, which is due to start another campaign at Shepparton on Sunday. The nicely bred mare I’m Scorching finished in third position ahead of WOTPLANETRUFROM, which was stood down to trial after pulling extremely hard and tiring over the concluding stages at Shepparton last week.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.8             Final Half: - 59.5               Margins: - 8m, 12m

MARYBOROUGH 10/11/19

Trial 1: - SIXTY dashed to the lead in the early stages and being a National Ratings 90 performer, he was clearly the class runner of the trial. He dominated from the front running role and scored comfortably, albeit looking a little lazy at times. MY SKYPOCKET performed very well. The open class trotter settled three back on the inside and finished off quickly in a handy final half of 58.7 seconds. RHYTHM AND GRACE was an eye-catching performance. She galloped at the start and lost approximately 20m before tacking onto the group. She made a lightning move up to second approaching the home turn and was just nosed out by MY SKYPOCKET on the line. LOVELY MOTH finished last of the four runners after trailing the leader throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.7             Final Half: - 58.7               Margins: - 8m, Short head

BLACKBOOKER: - Rhythm And Grace

Trial 2: - LURKING (Shadyshark Hanover – Orion Star 1.55.4, $42,299) dashed to the front in the early stages and had the field strung out for the majority of the trip. He was pacing quite roughly in the final circuit but he was always in control of the trial and won by a good margin. MISS MORAINE (Pet Rock – Major Love) trailed the leader throughout and tried hard for second. ATTENTION SEEKING (Somebeachsomewhere – Secret Bonus 2.4.1, $4,225) settled down in fourth and was giving the leaders a big start but made up a lot of ground late for an eye-catching trial third. ORPHAN CODY (Grinfromeartoear – Can Y Gwent 1.59.8, $21,055) dropped back to fourth after being three back on the markers throughout and DICKIE MACRAY (Shadyshark Hanover – Macray Amore) finished a distant fifth. He was extremely green and wanted to have a look at everything on the track so he can only improve with more experience. MAJOR MAYHEM settled five back on the markers and galloped approaching the home turn.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.5             Final Half: - 62.2               Margins: - 8m, 4m

Trial 3: - TWO TELL was able to slot into the one out and one back trail behind MAJOR BANKS and enjoyed the even speed that was being set. He came to the outside in the straight and was able to grab victory right on the line. MAJOR BANKS was a nice effort in second. He raced keenly on the outside of the leader, drew to the lead on the turn and was gunned down late but he wasn’t fully extended. COSTLY MISTAKE (McArdle – Costly Bonus 2.3.8, $4,450) settled sixth on the outside (1-3) and was able to work into third ahead of TOUCH OF ARMBRO (1-2). FLUSHED tried to lead all of the way but peaked late and finished fifth from SHELDON, which settled down last and STRAIGHT UP (Modern Art – Problem Solved 1.59.0, $27,361) started to yield ground from behind the leader with 500m remaining.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.3             Final Half: - 60.0               Margins: - Short head, 4m

Trial 4: - THE GIRLS GOT FLAIR stepped away well to trail the leader and obtained an inside run when the front runner SURBITON ARMISTICE ran away from the inside with 500m remaining. She was able to get well clear when SURBITON ARMISTICE galloped approaching the home turn and won the trial easily. RAGNA THOR was slow to begin from the standing start but she had ample opportunity to pick up the leeway as the pace was very slow. She got through to second on the home turn and just held that position but got very leg weary late. SURBITON ARMISTICE wanted to roll off the track several times before THE GIRLS GOTFLAIR took the run. He made up good ground after he made the error but he was at his worst behaviour.

Mile Rate: - 2.12.5           Final Half: - 61.3               Margins: - 40m, 3m

GEELONG 11/11/19

Trial 1: - CODE BAILEY settled three back on the markers and moved into the death seat at the 500m mark. He edged past the early leader FORTY THIEVES and went on to win the trial nicely. JILLIBY KUNG FU settled on the markers and followed CODE BAILEY when he made the move in the back straight. He picked up some ground on CODE BAILEY in the final 100m. FORTY THIEVES held down third in front of COLT THIRTY ONE, which got away safely and followed the markers for the majority of the journey. He only beat RULE OF THUMB (trailed leader) to the line but the Queensland hero did go to the line jogging behind the winner in what was a quality trial to start proceedings.

Mile Rate: - 1.58.4           Final Half: - 57.1               Margins: - 2m, 2m

Trial 2: - MONTPELLIER stepped away well from the standing start and was able to find the lead comfortably. He set up a slow tempo and won comfortably at the finish but none of the three horses were extended at any stage. CELTIC CASH was hampered by AVIMORE at the start when AVIMORE swung sideways and collected him. He did well to get away in a trot under the circumstances and was second throughout. AVIMORE lost approximately 20m early but tacked on comfortably with the very slow speed and remained last of the three Anton Golino trained runners.

Mile Rate: - 2.17.3           Final Half: - 63.9               Margins: - 4m, 4m

Trial 3: - UPTON GIRL began quickly and was able to spear to the lead shortly after the start. She set up a slow tempo and had a good kick left at the finish, winning comfortably. SOEXTRA (Bettors Delight – Lagoon Lady 1.57.3, $203,183) is out of a very fast race mare in Lagoon Lady and trialled nicely in second. He settled three back on the markers and worked away from the inside at the 500m mark. He wanted to race a little greenly in the latter stages but was able to move into second without being fully extended. JILLIBY GILMORE was stood down to trial from a recent meeting at Terang and he performed well. He settled down five back on the markers, was last at the quarter pole and sliced through the middle late for an eye-catching third. KOOL KARI (Shadow Play – Sukari 1.57.8, $29,368) finished fourth after trailing the leader throughout. THE BIG END OFTOWN (Heston Blue Chip – Apple of my Eye 2.1.1, $16,325) followed KOOL KARI throughout and TREMBITA tried to make a bold bid from last at the half mile marker but he seemingly was very difficult to steer after dashing up to second and he ended up dropping out to the tail of the field.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.3             Final Half: - 58.7               Margins: - 4m, ½ head

Trial 4: - ERROR was able to lead out from barrier two before taking cover behind RAKIURA ROCK, which was racing keenly into the first bend. ERROR switched back to the sprint lane and finished off too well for RAKIURA ROCK in the straight. MELODYS DAUGHTER settled down five back on the markers before moving up without cover with 1100m remaining. She held down third from JILLIBY GYPSY, which galloped in the score up and missed the start by approximately 10m before working up into the one out and on back trail. She wasn’t really extended in the run to the finish. OUR SAFARI SUN settled down four back on the markers behind LIGHTNING BLUECHIP and was able to beat that runner to the line.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.7             Final Half: - 57.2               Margins: - 4m, 8m

Trial 5: - LETS SAVE THE DAY settled three back on the markers before moving into the death seat in the back straight on the final occasion. He put pressure on the leader CORRINYAH CONMAN approaching the home turn and proved to be superior in the straight but he did want to pace roughly upon straightening for home. JACKS COMMAND finished second after trailing the leader and using the sprint lane. ARTCHIEVER CHAPEL followed LETS SAVE THE DAY throughout before coming out wide in the straight and finishing off reasonably well. The early leader CORRINYAH CONMAN dropped back to be last of the four runners but he wasn’t beaten by far.

Mile Rate: - 1.58.7           Final Half: - 56.8               Margins: - 2m, 2m

BENDIGO 11/11/19

Trial 1: - ENDSIN A PARTY stepped away well from the standing start to find the lead but he momentarily broke stride and swung wide on the track in the back straight on the first occasion. He lost approximately ten metres and this allowed JAY BEE FLEX to slip through and find the top. ENDSIN A PARTY was able to drop onto the leaders back then made his move approaching the home turn. The pair staged a good battle down the straight but ENDSIN A PARTY was just able to get the better of JAY BEE FLEX on the line. HOT ZIGGITY finished last of the three but he stepped away okay from the standing start and he did everything right in the trial.

Mile Rate: - 2.6.2             Final Half: - 58.8               Margins: - Head, 35m

Trial 2: - IDEAL VELOCITY trailed the leader and came to the outside as the field turned for home. She sprinted home well to win by a narrow margin. PICK UP LINE settled three back on the markers and accelerated quickly via the sprint lane. She was closing in on IDEAL VELOCITY late but ran out of time. SHECANDOIT finished a close up third after setting the speed in what was a good finish. CULLENS LEGEND came from five back on the markers and worked into fourth position ahead of A GOOD RED, which was four back on the inside. STRAWBERRY COURAGE was sixth throughout and MURANO came away from the inside at the half mile marker but struggled to pick up ground and finished at the tail of the field.

Mile Rate: - 1.58.4           Final Half: - 58.9               Margins: - Head, Head

Trial 3: - NEEDABACARDI was clearly the class runner of the trial and was able to lead throughout without being extended. SHADOW JUSTICE trailed the leader throughout but chased gamely in very quick final sectionals. MAJESTIC SPEED was three back on the markers throughout and finished 20m behind SHADOW JUSTICE at the end. CHU CHITS galloped at the start and was tailed off throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.5             Final Half: - 58.2               Margins: - 12m, 20m

Trial 4: - CALYPSO MISTRESS (Caribbean Blaster – Need A Boyfriend 2.2.9, $14,296) led comfortably and was allowed to run down the back straight on the final occasion, setting up a good lead. The field started to close in late but she was never in any danger of defeat. ROCKSLIDE (A Rocknroll Dance – Soky Sue) came from three back on the markers and was able to slip by OLLIES MOLLY (trailed leader) to finish second. GRACIES SHADOW was four back on the markers before coming wide into the straight. She finished fourth in front of FREDDYFROMZANZIBAR (Betterthancheddar – Safina $11,295), which was last throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.2             Final Half: - 59.6               Margins: - 8m, 4m

Trial 5: - RULES DON’T APPLY has ability but he is still learning and he was able to win the fifth trial. He was very green running into the first corner and wanted to hang out off the track but he eventually was able to be restrained to be three back on the markers. He moved into the death seat at the half mile marker and proved too good at the finish. MAZIKEEN (Bacardi Lindy – Photogenic Too) tried to lead throughout and finished second, well ahead of ALDEBARAN JETHRO (Andover Hall – Bromac Aldebaran), which settled behind the leader. PINEVALE VICTORIA (Majestic Son – Running Pinevale 2.4.3, $100,618) settled last of the four runners and remained in that position throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.9.5             Final Half: - 60.9               Margins: - 4m, 40m

Trial 6: - MAGNIFIED came from five back on the markers and produced a strong finish from the quarter pole to get up and win the trial from CAESAR MOON, which was three back on the markers and came out wide on the home turn. HEZA BRAXTON showed good gate speed to lead then took cover behind SUPEREGO shortly afterwards. He pounced on the lead approaching the home turn but he couldn’t repel the challengers of MAGNIFIED and CAESAR MOON. BACKINBLACK settled four back on the markers and beat SUPEREGO and ONE OF MY PEOPLE (6 back markers) to the line.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.1             Final Half: - 59.1               Margins: - 1m, 3m

Trial 7: - LOLA DEVEREAUX led comfortably and set up a slow tempo. She showed some ability last season and she was able to kick nicely clear in the straight to win her trial easily. ALDEBARAN TIPPETT (Andover Hall – Maori Road) followed up behind ALDEBARAN PHOEBE (Yield Boko – Aldebaran Peggy) and was just able to snare second on the line.

Mile Rate: - 2.10.7           Final Half: - 62.5               Margins: - 7m, head

ARARAT 11/11/19

Trial 1: - AUTUMN STORM was the first leg of a double for trainer Michael Bellman at the trials and was able to score by a large margin. The unraced filly OUR RUBY ROSE (Shadyshark Hanover – McArdle Lassie 1.58.1, $39,817) finished second in front of the trotter TELLA TALL TALE, which hasn’t started for a year. IM LADY MADELEINE (A Rocknroll Dance – Confetti 2.2.6, $13,563) finished fourth ahead of DANCEFORME (A Rocknroll Dance – Shake It Up Baby).

Mile Rate: - 2.7.0             Final Half: - 61.9               Margins: - 20m, 10m

Trial 2: - The bonny mare and last start Ballarat winner GRACIE CULLEN recorded fast time in taking out the final trial. She defeated NOWHERE CREEK, which hasn’t had much luck since returning from a break and the 3yo trotter DUBLIN CHUBB obviously did a good job to finish as close as he did in a quick mile rate at Ararat.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.3           Final Half: - 57.3               Margins: - 6m, 15m

BALLARAT 12/11/19

Trial 1: - YEJELE HAMMER had an outstanding juvenile season with a second in the Australian Pacing Gold and a win in the Super Series. He had a soft trial victory after he led and was never really extended at any stage. ADAPT was a super run in second position after he dropped back to be last of the four then made up many lengths in the final 300m, going down narrowly. ROYAL APOLLO (Shadow Play – Tessanover) was third after trailing the leader throughout and ILLAWONG PARRIS (Pet Rock – Breenys Lady 2.3.3, $6,120), which galloped momentarily at the start and settled three back on the markers, came in at the rear of the field.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.7           Final Half: - 57.84             Margins: - 1m, 30m

BLACKBOOKER: - Adapt

Trial 2: - The Tatlow Stakes winner and Breeders Crown runner up IOLANTA was impressive in taking out the second trial. She was without cover early before slotting in behind the leader with 1400m remaining. She came to the outside turning out of the back straight and quickly put the trial result beyond doubt. CARLAS MACH (Mach Three – Jennas Highview 1.57.0, $60,545) is a nicely bred gelding, which impressed with his second placing. He came from last and picked up a lot of ground in the latter stages, which is a particularly good effort for a horse that is yet to make his debut trying to chase down a proven classic winner. HES IDEAL (American Ideal – Punch Line 1.54.2, $84,499) galloped at the start and settled four back on the markers then was inconvenienced approaching the home turn so he didn’t have much luck in the trial. ORAMA (Somebeachsomewhere – Secret Desire 1.59.5, $88,700) settled three back on the markers and was severely hampered by the tiring early leader IRON CHARIOT (Julius Caesar – Sheza Beach Babe 2.3.2, $13,388) so it is best to forget he went around. IRON CHARIOT stopped quickly at the quarter pole but he did show very good gate speed to lead easily at the start.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.3             Final Half: - 57.34             Margins: - 5m, 30m

BLACKBOOKER: - Carlas Mach

Trial 3: - BE MY BABY was able to lead comfortably and set up a slow speed in the blustery conditions. She was never in danger of defeat and scored with something in hand. LA LOLA (Rock N Roll Heaven – Predict 1.56.6, $33,694) made a run from last at the quarter pole to pick up second placing ahead of BE THE ONE, which is a last start winner, and OUR NOTORIOUS ONE (Western Terror – Galleons Bud) finished last after trailing the leader and eventual winner throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.5             Final Half: - 59.85             Margins: - 3m, 1m

Trial 4: - ROCKNROLL RONNIE is a smart pacer that hasn’t raced since February. His only unplaced run to date came in the Central Victorian Championship and if his trial is any indication, he is going to have a prosperous campaign. He led and dashed away from a good field at the quarter pole, winning by a large margin. LITTLE PEANUT continued his very good trial form by coming from fourth and rolling into second without being pushed. BETTOROCKBETTOROLL settled three back on the markers and finished third ahead of SHES FINE, which trailed the leader. RACKEMUP TIGERPIE and SCARLETT BREW couldn’t make up ground from the back in a slick final half of 55.77 seconds.

Mile Rate: - 1.58.2           Final Half: - 55.77             Margins: - 20m, 1m

BLACKBOOKER: - Rocknroll Ronnie

Trial 5: - Abandoned

Trial 6: - The last trial was run in very windy and wet conditions with MEET MICHAELANGELO leading all of the way to defeat RUM JUNCTION, which never peeled off his back at any stage. Both horses went to the line under a hard hold. BUDDY TOUGH (Majestic Son – Shes Commando 2.1.1, $91,642) made an error at the start then again with 500m remaining but the conditions were pretty tough for horses and drivers in the final trial.

Mile Rate: - 2.15.6           Final Half: - 63.47             Margins: - 2m, 25m

HAMILTON 13/11/19

Trial 1: - There were only two horses contesting the opening trial for the trotters and BOLD HUSSY, which hasn’t started since June, was able to defeat the unraced gelding EARLION (Armbro Invasion – Early Pocket) by nearly two lengths in a slow mile rate of 2.13.3.

Mile Rate: - 2.13.3           Final Half: - 60.64             Margins: - 5.5m

Trial 2: - STARS OF COURAGE boasts a good record having won 10 of his 21 starts and he did win at his last attempt but that was back in January 2018. He was able to record reasonable time in defeating BAYVIEW HARBOUR, which was stood down to trial after disappointing first up. The former Queenslander FOR TONY finished third in front of the trotter DIAMOND WES.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.5           Final Half: - 57.31             Margins: - 1.5m, 46.5m
