OLLIE AND BROCK did a very good job to hold down second as he attacked the leader throughout but kicked on well late. CALL ME TOM had his chance to get past OLLIE AND BROCK as he worked up into the one out and one back trail from the 1100m mark. He finished third in front of SYSTAMATIC, which had every chance behind the leader. NIGHT WHISPERER was behind the leader early and ended up being three back on the inside. He was luckily able to move away from the markers in the back straight on the final occasion and chased hard but just couldn’t run down GLENGARRIFF. QUAKER MAKER (Quaker Jet – Gay Truscott) followed NIGHT WHISPERER on the markers but was able to get to up to second in the back straight and peaked late in third. He chased after the juvenile trotter ALDEBARAN YAHTZEE (Sebastian K – Charming Yankee) and was able to get up and run second in the straight. He trailed the leader and broke stride at the 1300m mark losing 40m, chased hard to tack on and immediately moved into the death seat, loomed as a chance on the home turn but galloped with 300m remaining. He got going again and was only beaten by six metres on the line. INSHADOW (Shadow Play – Gaelic Way) settled down last of the three runners early and that is where he ended up at the finish.

He kicked on strongly to get the better of his rivals over the final stages and scored by a little over a length on the line. MAJOR LYND was able to cling on for second with MISS SPORTY LOMBO coming from three back on the markers to finish third. MONA MIA was well off the mobile gate at the start, as has been her custom during her trial campaign, settled down last and made a move in the back straight on the final occasion. She was out three horses wide from the 600m and was going with ROYAL OBSESSION before she broke stride on the home turn, losing her chance.
