Harness Racing Victoria’s outstanding Team Teal has again led the way in notching winners and driving a huge total to help WomenCan tackle ovarian and other gynaelogical cancers.

Tayla French produced a 10-metre victory driving Pete Mitchell in the final race at Bendigo last night, the last of the state's Team Teal campaign, which ran from February 1 to March 15.

It was also a fourth consecutive victory by Teal reinswoman, a final surge that elevated Victoria’s total to a stunning $46,000 for the campaign.

The amount represented 115 winners driven by women in the south-eastern state, with Harness Racing Victoria and TAB each chipping in $200 for every victory.

Ellen Tormey (16 wins) was the star performer, while Michelle Phillips and Team Teal ambassador Kerryn Manning each produced 12 wins, French and Kate Gath nine and Jackie Barker eight amid 29 different females to salute.

The performance was a driving force in the stunning $165,000 raised by Australasian harness racing jurisdictions, with Queensland’s drivers (75 wins) the next most prominent, while New South Wales/ACT (65 drivers wins and 85 training wins) was also prolific.

A highlight of Team Teal was again the Night at the Trots at Melton on February 25, when more than 200 people enjoyed world-class trotting while raising funds. Click here for a wrap.
