Few two-year-olds have quite captured the imagination like Be Happy Mach, who dropped jaws throughout 2019 with his demolition of the juvenile season for trainer Emma Stewart.

The son of Mach Three won 10 of his 11 starts that year, amassing more than $300,000, until injury cruelly ended his racing career and would see him go on to stand at Alabar.

He left behind many fans who will be captivated by the impending debut of Captain Cassini, a half-brother to Be Happy Mach being also out of Behappysam but by Captain Treacherous.

Captain Cassini will also race for Emma Stewart and a large component of Be Happy Mach's owners, who would've been taken by the three-year-old's trial at Melton on Tuesday when he "won with plenty to spare".

It was the unraced five-year-old's second trial, having ran third at Ballarat on February 21, and earned him a slot in the Trial File Blackbook, one of three new additions.

The trial highlights and Blackbook replays are below.

MILDURA 09/03/23 (official results not yet available)

Trial 1: - NATIONALDRAFT raced without cover early, restrained to be four back on the inside and moved into the one out and one back trail before coming out three horses wide at the 300m. He was able to finish off best to get the prize over ACCELERE, which attempted to lead throughout. WHITE STAR VILLAGE came from last of the five runners to pick up third position. All three horses will be competing at Mildura on Tuesday night.

Trial 2: - RAINDROPS began quickly to find the lead, rolled along at a handy tempo and dashed well clear over the concluding stages. MAXINES DELIGHT settled four back on the markers and finished off well for a distant second with TOO MANY DAYS coming from last of the five runners to work into third position.

BACCHUS MARSH 11/03/23

Trial 3: - JEREMY LOU hasn’t raced since a fifth at Melton in September but he recorded very fast time at his trial victory so he is obviously somewhere near his peak form. BLACK TUXEDO is yet to be placed at his five starts to date but is ready to show improvement based on his narrow defeat. GIRLS VIEW finished in third and was well clear of the others headed by NAI HARN BAY.

Mile Rate: - 1.57.7                         Last Half: - 58.6                                       Margins: - ½ head, 6m

Trial 6: - BLACK CAMEO hasn’t raced since being unplaced on debut in October. He was able to draw clear and win by a large margin in his trial and he has a low National Rating of 49 so he might be able to pick up a race in the near future. SMILENSAYCHEESE finished in second position with the lightly raced JAWSOFSELWOOD finishing in third spot.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.8                           Last Half: - 59.5                                       Margins: - 20m, 2m

MARYBOROUGH 12/03/23

Trial 1: - BONAVISTA BOY began quickly to find the front and established a good lead mid-race after racing fiercely. He was getting tired in the latter stages but was able to keep rolling and claimed the prize. OUR CHEEKY DEVIL began fast and ended up being behind the leader. She picked up ground in the straight but couldn’t work past BONAVISTA BOY in the run to the finish. GLENLINE was last of the three runners throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.3                           Last Half: - 59.2                                       Margins: - 1m, 20m

Trial 4: - QUAKE PROOF won the standing start trial for trotters over SER PATRICK. SER PATRICK was getting standing start practice for his effort in the Charlton Cup on Sunday and importantly, he stepped fast to lead clearly. He was comfortably run down at the end but he wasn’t asked for an effort at any stage. QUAKE PROOF sat in the trail and finished off strongly to win comfortably and without being pushed out.

Mile Rate: - 2.9.2                           Last Half: - 60.2                                       Margin: - 4m

SHEPPARTON 14/03/23

Trial 1: - MAURLEN ANNIE is a filly by American Ideal that has shaped up nicely at the trials. She led out, took cover behind KRASH KRADDOCK and finished off best in the run to the finish. KRASH KRADDOCK held down second and ALOT LIKE LOUIE was last of the three runners throughout but he never peeled to the outside at any stage and went to the line jogging.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.5                           Last Half: - 58.1                                       Margins: - 2m, 1m

Trial 2: - KICKER ROCK is a colt by Pet Rock, which created a good impression. He settled down five back on the markers, moved up without cover at the 1600m, sprinted quickly and zipped to the front at the 1400m. He remained strong at the finish and scored nicely from LETSGO ANNABELLE, which performed soundly at the trials a week earlier and showed plenty of promise again. She led out then took cover and finished off nicely via the sprint lane. SKADI was four back on the markers, moved into the one out and one back trail then came out three horses wide on the home turn, running into a distant third late. SKADI is heading up to Bathurst for the Gold Bracelet series on Monday but she is taking on a class field including Australia’s champion filly of last season Major Delight and the New South Wales Oaks winner Windy Hill Tara.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.4                           Last Half: - 58.9                                       Margins: - 1m, 10m

BLACKBOOKER: - Kicker Rock

Trial 6: - The open class trotting mare ALDEBARAN CRESCENT was able to lead throughout and scored with something in reserve. SUGARPOVA NZ is an unraced New Zealand bred filly, which is scheduled to make her debut in the Cup Day Fanatics 3yo Classic at Charlton on Sunday. She is meeting a strong field first up but she came from last and finished very fast in the straight to pick up second place so she looks to have plenty of ability.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.7                         Last Half: - 58.9                                       Margins: - 2m, 18m

TABCORP PARK, MELTON 14/03/23

Trial 2: - STORMRYDER is a juvenile colt by Captaintreacherous out of the former good mare The Baggy Green. He progressed forward to find the lead, took cover and finished off quickly in the final 150m to get the prize. THESTATESMAN began well and pushed forward to find the front from a wide draw. He ran along at a genuine tempo and was only run down in the latter stages so he continued his good form line at the trials. MAXNJAX was the first one to find the markers, took cover and ended up being three back on the markers. He moved off the inside at the 300m and tried hard in the straight. NATHAN STREET is a colt by Lazarus, which was picking up some ground late after being left flat footed before the home turn and should continue to improve with the benefit of experience.

Trial 4: - BAY OF BISCAY produced a big performance to win after he galloped in the score up and gave away a healthy start. He chased hard, picked up the field then circled from the 500m to win, drawing away! He is by Somebeachsomewhere out of the classy mare Nike Franco so he is worth following. DANCE AFFAIR began quickly to race without cover, took a trail and moved into the death seat again at the 700m so she produced a handy performance to finish second. JORGE STREET finished third after setting the speed.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.5                           Last Half: - 59.48                      Margins: - 8.5m, Neck

BLACKBOOKER: - Bay of Biscay

Trial 5: - PULL THE OTHER LEG NZ won the open class trial and dashed home in sizzling final sectionals but the field remained in the same order and on the markers throughout the entire trial so it was very similar to track work. KHAFAJI was second with LA CAPTAIN and PACIFICO DREAM being third and fourth respectively. PULL THE OTHER LEG NZ is resuming at Melton tomorrow night but is taking on quite a strong field.

Mile Rate: - 1.56.5                         Last Half: - 54.83                      Margins: - 6m, 4.5m

Trial 8: - MAJOR DELIGHT was the outstanding juvenile filly of last season having remained undefeated from nine starts. She was able to win the trial comfortably after she settled four back on the inside before circling around to find the lead at the 1700m. She returns from a break in the third heat of the Bathurst Gold Bracelet on Monday and is clearly the horse to beat. JUSTALITTLESIP produced a very tidy run to finish second. He settled last of the five runners, moved up without cover from the 700m and continued to pick up ground in slick final sectionals. NONPARREIL finished third after leading out before taking cover behind the eventual winner.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.3                         Last Half: - 56.26                      Margins: - 2m, 2m

Trial 9: - TEMPTING TIGRESS NZ gained a nice trail early before getting left stranded without cover then worked to the front at the 1700m. She then ran along at a good tempo and completely dominated her rivals at the end. She travels up to Bathurst with Major Delight and will compete in heat four of the Gold Bracelet series. GOODTIME MACH led out, took cover and ended up being three back on the markers. He was doing his best work at the end and finished second ahead of VAPAR BRENDA, which worked to the front then took cover behind TEMPTING TIGRESS NZ. MISTER HUNTER made ground from four back on the markers and produced a handy performance to be fourth past the past.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.9                         Last Half: - 55.91                      Margins: - 8m, 6.5m

Trial 10: - CAPTAIN CASSINI settled last of the six runners, moved into the running lane (1-2) and came out four horses wide on the home turn. He won with plenty to spare and is related to several very good winners including Be Happy Mach so he appears to have a promising future. ADMIRALOFTHEFLEET produced a good performance to fill second after settling three back on the markers and moving up without cover from the 800m. BETSYS JOY finished in third position after trailing ADMIRALOFTHEFLEET into the race in the final circuit.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.8                           Last Half: - 56.5                                       Margins: - 2m, 1.5m

BLACKBOOKER: - Captain Cassini

TERANG 15/03/23

Trial 1: - SASSY SAID SO is an unraced mare by Well Said that was able to spear to the lead shortly after the start and never appeared to be in any danger of defeat. She did shift out to the centre of the track over the final 150m but she did have a big enough lead to still win clearly. She makes her debut at Hamilton on Monday and is perfectly drawn but she is taking on proven winners. MYWATERLOU settled three back on the inside, moved away from the markers at the 300m and finished off well for second with KINTSUKORI (trailed leader) being in a distant third.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.8                           Last Half: - 59.7                                       Margins: - 6m, 20m

Trial 3: - The former New Zealand pacer CHAMBRAY NZ settled last of the three runners, came to the outside at the quarter pole and finished off nicely without being pushed to win the trial. She won at Ashburton prior to heading across the Tasman and she did show some promise in the trial victory. PAPPA LEO NZ was formerly with trainer John Justice and is now being prepared by Matthew Horsnell. He trailed the leader SILENT MAJOR NZ and worked into second with SILENT MAJOR NZ being last of the three runners across the line.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.5                           Last Half: - 60.3                                       Margins: - 1m, 20m
