Some of the early value might be gone, but Jason Bonnington and Nikkita Ross are tipping a classy squaregaiter to resume in winning fashion this Saturday night at Tabcorp Park Melton.
Sundons Courage will race for the first time since late February when he lines up in the Niota Bloodstock I Didnt Do It Trotters Free For All, and Bonnington and Ross pushed his case during the Friday Form Panel edition of Trots Life.
“We will need a little bit of speed early, but if we get it and Sparkling Success just has to do that touch of work, then Sundons Courage has such a blazing turn of speed,” Bonnington said.
“Even though he’s an eight-year-old, and I mentioned in the form comment, he did go from boy to man last preparation. His runs in some truly elite squaregaiting races were superb.”
Ross also marked the Brad Angove-trained entire – currently a $4.20 chance with the TAB – on top after a strong trial victory at Maryborough.
“I thought that trial was quite good,” she said.
“It was a cold Maryborough morning, they got home in 58.2sec (last half) and went two minutes (mile rate), so I think he can win.”
The meeting is one that Bonnington and Ross see much the same, sharing on-top selections in seven of the nine races.
Tomorrow night’s meeting kicks off at 5.03pm.
