Frost, Leedham and McKenzie enjoy a Magic debut

The unlikely combination of Kialla trainer Mitchell Frost, Long Forest reinsman Jordan Leedham and Hobart owner Juanita McKenzie pulled off a mini plunge at Kilmore trots on Thursday, August 14 when heavily-supported Always B Miki-Magic Moment Lombo gelding Magic Miki scored on debut in the Thank You Maxine Brain 3Y0 Maiden Pace over 1690 metres.

Backed in from an isolated opening quote of $3.00 (fixed odds) in the morning line to run a prohibitive $1.25 favourite and $1.40 on the parimutuel market, Leedham sent Magic Miki straight to the front from gate two before allowing Colorado Girl (gate four) and Chris Alford to cross him shortly after to receive the run of the race.

Using the sprint lane on turning, Magic Miki put the race beyond doubt in a couple of strides to score most impressively by 4.4 metres from Colorado Girl, who had no answer.

Polemarker Julz Marie (three pegs) was third on debut 1.7 metres back after following the winner all the way and also using the sprint lane. The mile rate was 2:00.1.
