Bronte Nieuwenburg has done the form for tonight at Bendigo.
Race 1:
OVERVIEW: MYSTIC MOVER (1) She’s been close in all three of her career starts. She has significantly the best sectional times in this field. Her gate speed is a bit of an unknown but she will, regardless, likely be in a forward position on the fence. LOAN SAILOR (3) has the best gate speed on this front line and could map into a suitable forward position. Besides Sweet Face, who is going for start 100, Loan Sailor is the second most experienced horse in this field with 41 previous starts. IMGUNNARESTNGO (11) last start needs to be forgotten as she galloped out of the race. However, her start prior she flashed home impressively from last. If she brings her best manners she will be flashing home again here. WICKED ONE (6) has had three career starts and his most recent run was solid when second. He raced without cover throughout and was only beaten late by a swooper. He should not be a maiden for long on that performance.
BACK: MYSTIC MOVER (1) – 2.5 units (win)
SELECTIONS: MYSTIC MOVER (1), LOAN SAILOR (3), IMGUNNARESTNGO (11), WICKED ONE (6)
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: CHRISTMAS BABE (5) is a 15-time winner with 48 further placings who has managed to get back into a National Rating up to 39 event. She would be one of the fastest gate speed trotting mares in Victoria. She will get forward here and will need to be at her best. WHATS THE TEA (12) is an experienced trotter at this grade who always tries his best and races well for James Herbertson. He has the best sectional times in this event but will need luck from the awkward barrier. MADGE EGAN (6) had to do all the work in the breeze last start and still battled on well to only get beaten 5.2 metres. Racing well but will need luck. HEART OF GRACELAND (8) was in the same race as Madge Egan last start and it was also an eye-catching performance. He was back in the field and had to cover an extra 31 metres racing wide and was only beaten 7.1m. He hit the line strongly.
BACK: CHRISTMAS BABE (5) – 2.5 units (win)
SELECTIONS: CHRISTMAS BABE (5), WHATS THE TEA (12), MADGE EGAN (6), HEART OF GRACELAND (8)
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: CLAUDYS HERO (2) is a talented horse who is well placed here from barrier two. He has gate speed. He was beaten last start by JUST AS I AM (1) who was on his back then too. This looks to be a similar map here. SKY LINDY (8) is racing well and will look to take advantage of what looks like a fence-dominated finish. She is in career best form winning her four starts since joining Damian Wilson’s stable. KYVALLEY JUDGE (9) has proven he’s a talented performer in his three career starts. All his runs have been strong with two wins and a second. This looks to be his toughest test but he’s a nice horse.
SELECTIONS: CLAUDYS HERO (2), JUST AS I AM (1), SKY LINDY (8), KYVALLEY JUDGE (9)
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: RAKERO WARRIOR (9) got it wrong last start and galloped out of the event. Prior to that he was in flying, career-best form. He has had 12 starts for trainer Tori Hutchins for six wins and three placings. He is versatile and can make his own luck. He needs to trot. DEEP LOVE (8) is first up for Brent Lilley since starting its career in NSW. It has had three career starts for a last-start victory at Menangle. He gapped them in that run, winning by over 15 metres. He looks to be a talented type. WAIKARE ADRIENNA (6) has always shown a lot of promise throughout her career. She has been consistently running well in her starts where she hasn’t galloped. She needs luck and to trot throughout. AT THE DISTANCE (5) is an experienced trotter for Ross Graham. He often puts forward a good performance. James Herbertson takes the reins. He will need luck but is not one to be left out.
SELECTIONS: RAKERO WARRIOR (9), DEEP LOVE (8), WAIKARE ADRIENNA (6), AT THE DISTANCE (5)
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: STAR RULER (8) has been racing well. He has the best sectional times in this event and he’s the only horse on the second line, so he has options. He is first up here since moving to the Kyle Marshall stable. AMBER ALERT (1) is first up here for Mick Carbone. She hasn’t raced since December so fitness is a query, but she has the gate speed to hold a forward position. YELLA (2) raced in the breeze last start and still finished second. Good barrier here. FAKE CULLECTION (3) is racing okay. She performs better when she is in front. She will need luck here but deserves a spot in the top four.
SELECTIONS: STAR RULER (8), AMBER ALERT (1), YELLA (2), FAKE CULLECTION (3)
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: SAVON DE ROCHE (4) was first up last start and was impressive winning. She settled second last and flashed home well to win with a 27.9 last quarter. She’s a classy type and will have improved from her first-up run. SHEZAGLAMOURGIRL (5) has been in the top three in her four career starts. She hit the line to finish third in her first-up run which she would have improved from. Sticky barrier though. SHAZZA LOVE (1) has been racing well and has the ace barrier with good gate speed to use to her advantage here. WRITTEN IN SILK (8) is the only horse on the second line here so she has options. She’s a versatile horse. Her win three starts back at Maryborough was very good and she’s a threat here if she runs to her best.
BACK: SAVON DE ROCHE (4) – 2.5 units (win)
SELECTIONS: SAVON DE ROCHE (4), SHEZAGLAMOURGIRL (5), SHAZZA LOVE (1), WRITTEN IN SILK (8)
Race 7:
OVERVIEW: ALLWATFUNJINGLES (1) has the best sectional times (just) in a race that looks very even. He will be able to stay on the fence and get a good run. CHARLIE WALKER (3) has great gate speed and should be able to find the fence here. In an even field it’s the best place to be. MAORI TATTOO (5) was much improved and impressive last start, racing in the breeze and only getting beaten into third late. Sticky barrier here. STRAIGHT TO THETOP (4) on times has the best last 800m sprint in this field. He will be flashing home if saved for one run.
SELECTIONS: ALLWATFUNJINGLES (1), CHARLIE WALKER (3), MAORI TATTOO (5), STRAIGHT TO THETOP (4)
Race 8:
OVERVIEW: I AM HARRO (8) has taken time to learn what racing is all about, but he absolutely has a motor. He needs to do everything right and have luck. He’s alone on the back row from barrier eight so he has time and space to settle early. POPPY POPSTAR (1) on her day is a smart performer but she hasn’t been at her best in her last few runs. From barrier one she finds a good race to return to her old form. MACHO MAORI (3) was a last-start winner at this track when flashing from near last to win. They ran slow times there but he now has the winning confidence. LOUIEVILLE LASS (4) is in career-best form, having finished in the top two in her last five starts. She has a sticky barrier here but is a big threat if she gets a good run.
BACK: I AM HARRO (8) – 2.5 units (win)
SELECTIONS: I AM HARRO (8), POPPY POPSTAR (1), MACHO MAORI (3), LOUIEVILLE LASS (4)
