GOODFORM – Bronte’s best for Kilmore on Thursday night

Bronte Nieuwenburg has done the form for tonight’s meeting at Kilmore.

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: CITY ROCKSTAR (2) has been racing consistently and draws a good barrier with solid gate speed, which should see him settle into a forward position. TOTALLY STUNNING (3) won well last start when driven to perfection by Jack Laugher. If she can replicate that effort, she will be right in this. DIVINE TILLY (4) is a talented mare. Her first-up ninth doesn’t look great on paper, but she lacked clear racing room and was travelling well. At her best, she is classy. PISTOL PEARCE (13) ran well last start and has strong sectional times for this field, though he will need to overcome the tricky barrier.

SELECTIONS: CITY ROCKSTAR (2), TOTALLY STUNNING (3), DIVINE TILLY (4), PISTOL PEARCE (13)

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: Chris Lang and Sonia Mahar prepare the well-bred CHARLIES TACTICS (2), who is yet to miss a place and should secure a strong forward position from barrier two. DANCE FIGHTER (4) flashed home to claim its maiden victory last start at Melton and, if it can replicate that performance, is right in contention. ME AND ZAC (9) is lightly raced but has shown promise when he does do everything right. HODY MOKE (5) has been racing consistently well but will need luck from the barrier, with a few smart runners drawn inside her.

SELECTIONS: CHARLIES TACTICS (2), DANCE FIGHTER (4), ME AND ZAC (9), HODY MOKE (5)

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: MISS JOPLIN (9) was impressive winning her maiden last start at Melton and should secure a good trail into the race by following the fast beginner FOUR LONELY NIGHTS (2). FOUR LONELY NIGHTS (2) looks set to find the front and should perform well, with fitness the only query as he resumes. OUR TRUE COLOURS (12) was brilliant last start when flashing home after a wide run but faces a difficult barrier here. REGAL ROCK (3) maps well and may begin just outside Four Lonely Nights before finding cover to position himself for a late challenge.

BACK: MISS JOPLIN (9) – 2 units (win)

SELECTIONS: MISS JOPLIN (9), FOUR LONELY NIGHTS (2), OUR TRUE COLOURS (12), REGAL ROCK (3)

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: First starter CLASSIC FAIR (6) caught the eye with a trial win at Shepparton, looking a big, strong trotter when leading throughout. He rated 2.04 over the 2190m trip in that trial. PIPALICIOUS (8) is the second most experienced runner in the field, having had four starts and placing at her past two. She will need to navigate an awkward barrier but appears well placed. She was beaten 8.9 metres when third behind Spirited Gigi, who looks a smart type. Her stablemate PARDRAY (2) finished fourth in that same race on debut last start. DUNDEA (10) galloped out on debut but had previously won a trial at Melton, so relying on his manners here.

BACK: CLASSIC FAIR (6) – 3 units (win)

SELECTIONS: CLASSIC FAIR (6), PIPALICIOUS (8), PARDRAY (2), DUNDEA (10)

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: JILLIBY ILLUSION (2) is in career-best form after winning his past three starts and has a favourable barrier to settle forward. MANINKY MOONSHINE (7) is first-up for Alex Ashwood since relocating from Tasmania. The Ashwood stable is flying and he may benefit from the change in scenery. HITTHEROADJACK (9) has posted strong recent sectional times and should map into a forward position from barrier nine by following out Jilliby Illusion. He is one to watch late. GALAXY LASS (3) is racing better than her numerical form suggests and has plenty of ability. With the right run, she can be right in the finish.

BACK: JILLIBY ILLUSION (2) – 3 units (win)

SELECTIONS: JILLIBY ILLUSION (2), MANINKY MOONSHINE (7), HITTHEROADJACK (9), GALAXY LASS (3)

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: MIDNIGHT MOJO (8) has clearly the standout best sectional times in this field. She was an impressive last-start winner after sustaining a long, strong run at Melton. She follows out a runner with good gate speed but may still look to come off the fence to avoid bad luck. She can go back-to-back here. PRINCESS ARNA (5) has good gate speed and ran a strong second last start at Charlton when first-up for new trainer Nick Edwards. The barrier is a little tricky, but she is racing well. TASTE IT (9) has shown poor manners at the start of her races this preparation, but when she gets it right she is a capable performer. She needs everything to go right and is included in the numbers on trust. DELTA STARZ (6) has been racing well but must overcome an awkward barrier.

SELECTIONS: MIDNIGHT MOJO (8), PRINCESS ARNA (5), TASTE IT (9), DELTA STARZ (6)

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: PIESRIDINGSHOTGUN (5) is a strong front-runner and may be able to find the lead again here with his excellent gate speed. His sectional times have been the best in this field and this looks a suitable race for him. PLEASE LAYLA (4) has been in career-best form over her past four starts, placing well for Ewa and John Justice. She continues to improve and, while she may need some luck, she is racing well. MAORI TATTOO (6) hit the line strongly to win a recent trial at Melton. However, it was not run in fast time and he will need luck from his barrier first-up. GUNSEN ROSIE (1) maps well here from barrier one.

SELECTIONS: PIESRIDINGSHOTGUN (5), PLEASE LAYLA (4), MAORI TATTOO (6), GUNSEN ROSIE (1)

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: THE TRAWLER (6) showed promise on debut and then broke when shuffled back at Maryborough on Monday at his second start. Prior to galloping, he looked to be travelling very well. He has ability but will need to back up with only a few days between runs early in his career. The Andy Gath-prepared NORMANS GIRL (2) has gone close to breaking through for her maiden victory on several occasions. She should map well from barrier two and finds a suitable race. TRYX VIXEN (5) and HELENSHOPE (8) have recorded fair sectional times recently but will require luck from their draws.

BACK: THE TRAWLER (6) – 2 units (win)

SELECTIONS: THE TRAWLER (6), NORMANS GIRL (2), TRYX VIXEN (5), HELENSHOPE (8)
