Bronte Nieuwenburg has done the form ahead of Echuca’s Cup meeting on New Year’s Day.
R1 – 6.03pm – Frank & Carmel Ryan Memorial Gvc Pace (3rd Heat) – 1755m
4 – Ima Charma
2 – Polly Peachum
9 – Specta
1 – Love The Deal
Ima Charma’s (4) first-up run was strong, working his way to the lead from barrier seven before leading throughout at Gunbower. He can only improve from that run and looks well placed here.
BACK: 4 Ima Charma – 2 Units (win)
Polly Peachum (2) has great gate speed and should land in a good position. Specta (9) was checked last start when first up for Mark and Lisa Pitt. He places awkwardly from the barrier, but he has the best recent sectional times. Love To Deal (1) has the ace barrier and will be well placed.
R2 – 6.34pm – Tiffany Murray Memorial (Vicbred Voucher) Pace – 1755m
4 – Alpha Crucis
5 – Miss Piggy Wiggy
7 – Over The Line
2 – Normandy Nugget
Alpha Crucis (4) was good last start when first up after a long break. He is likely to improve from the run, with visiting driver Tiarn McElhinney taking the reins. Miss Piggy Wiggy (5) is in career-best form but has an awkward barrier. If she finds a good position, she will run on well. Over The Line (7) will need luck from the barrier but is very consistent and has great recent sectional times. Normandy Nugget (2) is racing well and maps forward here.
R3 – 7.06pm – Phyllis Lindberg Family Gvc Trot (2nd Heat) – 2160m
7 – Hillwinsome
5 – Wallis
8 – Me And Zac
3 – Suzys Dream
Hillwinsome (7) was tough, winning last start at Cranbourne from the breeze. He has to overcome a tricky barrier here. Wallis (5) has the best recent sectional times, but he will need to be at his best here from barrier five. Me And Zac (8) is lightly raced and seems to be getting better each start. Suzys Dream (3) has been unlucky recently but is racing well. She will need luck here, but she’s a winning chance.
R4 – 7.44pm – Rich River Auto Body Works Pace Final – 2160m
1 – Feel The Knight
7 – Ceasar Nero
8 – Flip A Coin
4 – Our Bella Lucia
Feel The Knight’s (1) last two starts have caught my eye with the way he has hit the line to finish second. He has gate speed and draws the ace barrier here to hold a good position. This looks like a good race for him to get back into the winners circle.
BACK: 1 Feel The Knight – 2 Units (win)
Ceasar Nero (7) was an improved winner last start at Shepparton. If he can replicate that performance, he will go well here. Flip A Con (8) is a consistent performer and maps well here. Our Bella Lucia (4) is an experienced campaigner and is always thereabouts.
R5 – 8.21pm – Moama Bowling Club Echuca Pacing Cup – 2560m
8 – Triple Rock Saint
10 – Madigan
3 – Joe Got Rolled
7 – Clymenus
Triple Rock Saint (8) was the winner of the Gordon Rothacker Championship Final on Saturday night at Melton. Prior to that, he recorded three very good second-place finishes. With his barrier draw to follow through early, he looks the one to beat here, provided he handles the short back-up and the longer trip.
BACK: 8 Triple Rock Saint – 2 Units (win)
Madigan (10) doesn’t have the best numerical form, but his runs this preparation have been strong. He is a big winning chance, although he does have an awkward barrier here. Joe Got Rolled (3) has the barrier to use to her advantage here. Clymenus (7) will need the right run, but if he finds luck, he is a winning prospect.
R6 – 8.59pm – Alabar Bloodstock Pace – 2160m
9 – Taste It
6 – Crocodile Blood
3 – Wheres Wood Wood
1 – Four Starzzz Ruby
Taste It (9) has been getting it wrong at the start of her races recently, so she draws the ODM barrier of nine here, which I don’t mind as it gives her room to settle early. Her last win came at this track back in September. She has been hitting the line strongly of late, and if she gets a good trail into the race, she will be flashing home.
BACK: 9 Taste It – 2 Units (win)
Crocodile Blood (6) is a maiden, but his recent runs have been okay on times. Wheres Wood Wood (3) has good gate speed to be handy early and, with the right run, can be hitting the line strongly. Four Starzzz Ruby (9) has the ace barrier and looks well placed.
R7 – 9.33pm – Echuca Steel Sheds Echuca Trotters Cup – 2560m
4 – El Conqueror
2 – Maximez
6 – Faith Full
1 – Watch And Act
Former New Zealand runner El Conqueror (4) has put together four strong performances since arriving in Australia, recording one win and three seconds. Last start, he just found one a bit better in Bennie And The Jets in the Cobram Trotters Cup. This is a similar field, and if he can secure a forward position, he looks hard to beat.
BACK: 4 El Conqueror – 2 Units (win)
Maximez (2) run when third in his Vicbred Final three starts back was outstanding. Since then, he has won at Maryborough. He’s a high-speed performer and one to watch late. Faith Full (6) was one of the most eye-catching and consistent trotters in 2025. She has got it wrong recently from the stand starts and will appreciate mobile conditions here. Watch And Act (1) will get the perfect trip from barrier one.
R8 – 10.00pm – Llowalong Farms Pace – 1755m
1 – Lilnova
4 – Malava Miss
6 – Fake Cullection
3 – Sweetsazzymylazzy
Lilnova (1) was so unlucky last start at Charlton, running up behind them late with no clear run. She has been racing well and has the ace barrier here. Malava Miss (4) has good gate speed to get into a handy spot. Fake Cullection (6) has an awkward barrier, but he is racing better than his numerical form suggests. Sweetsazzymylazzy (3) is first up in over a year, but she does have some ability.
