Bronte Nieuwenburg has outlined her selections and suggested game plan for tonight's card at Cranbourne.
R1 – 5.22pm – Nzb Standardbred Pace – 2080m
10 – Michen Roy
3 – Interpretation
4 – Starlight Sass
7 – Speedy Healy
Michen Roy was brilliant in defeat on Tuesday at Shepparton, doing it tough in the breeze and battling on strongly. If he can back up after that hard run earlier in the week, he should perform well here.
BACK: 10 Michen Roy – 2 units (win)
R2 – 5.54pm – Mark Gurry & Associates Pace – 1609m
10 – Mikispur
9 – Scherger That
4 – Merrywood Paul
5 – Mister Fonzi
Mikispur was dominant winning last start at his home track and is putting together a strong record. He faces a bigger field here and a tricky barrier over the short trip, but he does look a quality, progressive type.
BACK: 10 Mikispur – 2 units (win)
R3 – 6.24pm – Betavet Pace – 1609m
1 – Captain Boak
5 – Sea Hawke
8 – Metro Memory
6 – Tophut Johny
Captain Boak, a son of Captaintreacherous, isn’t the most consistent horse. He can overrace at times and bring himself undone, with his one career win coming when in front. He has the gate speed to find a forward position here and, if he can settle, looks a value place or each-way play.
BACK: 1 Captain Boak – 1 unit (win) / 1 unit (place)
R4 – 6.57pm – Decron Horse Care Pace – 1609m
7 – Freak Out
8 – Allheartnoheight
2 – Muriel
4 – Lotakevi
R5 – 7.24pm – Ausign Maiden Trot – 2080m
1 – Majestic Party Boy
2 – Aldebaran Axl
7 – Jakee Boy
9 – Waiting For Anna
Darren Pace enjoyed a great night yesterday, finishing third in the feature trotting event with Sam Nien at massive odds. His stablemate, Majestic Party Boy, is racing well and comes up with the ace barrier. He was good last start at this track and should enjoy a much smoother trip from the draw. He looks a solid each-way chance. Aldebaran Axl is a quality type, but I’d prefer to see him over the shorter trip, where his sectional times are stronger.
BACK: 1 Majestic Party Boy – 1 unit (win) / 1 unit (place)
R6 – 7.54pm – Blue Hills Rise Trot – 2080m
2 – Freight Shaker
3 – Shaq The Anvil
1 – At The Distance
4 – Im Above The Law
Although not in super quick time, Freight Shaker has won two trials recently at Melton, where he looked dominant in victory by decent margins. He seems to have come back with confidence this preparation. On times, he will need to improve from last preparation, but he did look like a different horse at the trials.
BACK: 2 Freight Shaker – 2 units (win)
QUADDIE (Races 3 – 6)
1, 5, 8, 6
7, 8, 2, 4
1, 2, 7, 9
2, 3, 1

** A betting unit is typically a percentage of the total bankroll or the amount of money you are willing to risk on a particular bet – for example 1 unit is 10% of your bankroll, therefore with a $100 bankroll 1 unit equals $10.
