Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Chairman Dale Monteith and CEO Dayle Brown have paid tribute to the late Gavin Lang, following the champion horseman’s passing yesterday.

“From my personal experiences I can honestly say it was an honour and a privilege to have known him,” Monteith said.

“He was my first driver as an owner and from the way Gary and Debbie Quinlan spoke to him, the admiration, respect and kinship was clear.

“No words can truly describe the man that his friends knew and loved. He’ll be so dearly missed.”

Brown echoed Monteith’s sentiments.

“Gavin Lang was a champion and a legend of the sport. His ability on the track was probably unrivalled, and the friendships and esteem in which he was held by so many is testament to his standing,” he said.

“There will never be another Gavin Lang and my sincerest condolences on behalf of all of HRV are extended to his family during this time.”

Brown said HRV was working on several ways to honour Gavin and would release details in due course.

Tonight on Trots Vision at thetrots.com.au, Rob Auber and Dan Mielicki will speak to several participants about their Gavin Lang memories, and Jason Bonnington and Blake Redden will pay tribute during their SEN coverage from 6-10pm.
