HRV welcomes Victorian Government support package

A $24 million boost from the Victorian Government will secure jobs and reinforce community harness racing centres throughout Victoria during the coronavirus pandemic.

Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Chairman Dale Monteith thanked the Victorian Government for its ongoing commitment to harness racing and said “this funding will be put to great use right throughout the Victorian trots network”.

“This is a significant funding announcement for the harness racing industry and is very much welcomed. We are thankful in Victoria for the continued strong support we receive from the State Government and Minister Pakula,” Mr Monteith said.

“This vital funding will allow Harness Racing Victoria to weather the significant economic impacts of COVID-19  by safeguarding prizemoney and club subsidy levels, which will benefit all our community harness racing centres across the state.

“This package will support people at all levels of the industry, particularly club staff, trainers, drivers, breeders and owners.”
