Interest sought for first-class Shepparton Training Centre

Shepparton Harness Racing Club and Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) are seeking Expressions of Interest from participants wanting to train from the new state-of-the-art training centre in development at Shepparton.

The new training centre will have capacity to accommodate 68 horses, consisting of three individual enclosed barns of 10 boxes each, 38 walk-in-walk-out boxes, two eight-horse walkers and access to three tracks.

Expressions of interest will close Friday, May 27. Trainers should advise of preferred configuration of boxes/barns.

“The Shepparton Training Centre is on track to be completed in August and delivers the opportunity for trainers to access state-of-the-art facilities in an area that is regarded as Victorian harness heartland,” HRV General Manager of Racing Stephen Bell said.

“We know the cost of developing private harness training setups is prohibitive and projects such as the Shepparton Training Centre help to alleviate this significant barrier to entry for participants.

“We’ve seen in recent years several stables make the move to Victoria. This is a great time to race here, and the Shepparton Training Centre is the perfect opportunity to be located at a first-class facility, with 30 per cent of Victorian harness meetings annually held within a 100km radius of the venue.”

For further information on the training centre or to register your expression of interest, contact Ian McDonald (shrc@sheppartonhrc.com.au).
