Ladies In Red with the job ahead after back row draw

Ladies In Red has drawn the back row once again for the third and final leg of the Elizabeth Clarke Mares Triple Crown.

The star Emma Stewart-trained pacer has gate 11 for the Group 1 Benstud Standardbreds Queen Of The Pacific at Tabcorp Park Melton this Saturday night, while stablemate and main adversary Tough Tilly has come up with six off the front line.

Fellow Stewart runner Treachery, who ran a gallant third to Ladies In Red in last Friday night’s Angelique Club Pace, will leave from barrier nine, while runner-up from that Group 3 battle four days ago Dougs Babe (Geoff Webster) has drawn seven.

Ladies In Red currently leads the Elizabeth Clarke Mares Triple Crown standings thanks to her victory in the Angelique and runner-up placing to Tough Tilly in The Make Mine Cullen on October 8.

She tops the leaderboard on 13 points, three clear of Tough Tilly.

A $10,000 bonus goes to the owners of the Triple Crown winner, with points calculated for each race as follows: 1st – 8 points, 2nd – 5 points, 3rd – 3 points, 4th – 2 points and 5th – 1 point.

The $100,000 Queen Of The Pacific is a headline feature on Saturday night’s Tabcorp Park Melton card, along with the Group 2 Catanach’s Jewellers 4YO & 5YO Championship.

That race has drawn a quality field of pacers, including Jess Tubbs-trained trio Cherokee Joe, Better Eclipse and La Captain, Stewart’s Narutac Prince, Act Now and Beyond Delight, and Russell Jack’s Spring In His Step.

The first of nine races is scheduled to go at 6.27pm.
