Erratic mare Majestic Charma continued her ‘all or nothing’ pattern in Cranbourne last night.
To trainer George Batsakis’ delight, the trotter had the ‘all’ attitude which resulted in victory.
Majestic Charma has had 19 starts for four wins and plenty of missed opportunities.
“She’s very much a hit and miss trotter,” Batsakis said. “I’ve only had her for six starts and she either gallops or wins!
“She is an inexperienced trotter, a bit of a funny girl, but the ability is there when she behaves.
“That said, she is starting to trot a lot better at home, so hopefully she is also getting better at the races.”
With Batsakis in the cart, Majestic Charma was pushed through from her second row draw to be two-back in the running line as Te Amo worked to the lead.
Shuffled back to last entering the back straight, Majestic Charma was taken three-wide to be challenging the frontrunner turning for home.
Showing a tremendous amount of intestinal fortitude, the daughter of Majestic Son scored by a metre-and-a-half from Te Amo.
Please Layla was 12 metres away third in 2:01.7 over 2080 metres.
“Last night she didn’t set a hoof wrong, which is fantastic,” Batsakis said. “It’s almost impossible to go the races confident with her as I can’t trust her, even during the run you don’t know what to expect.
“Last night was different, as soon as I went 500 metres, I felt she was trotting too well to worry as she has a beautiful rhythm.”
