Michelle Phillips says she will be right to go for this weekend’s Australian Female Drivers Championship in Queensland despite suffering a bad fall at Ouyen last Sunday afternoon.

Phillips was taken to a Mildura hospital after being dislodged from the sulky of My Ultimate Rusty during race two, but is recovering well and plans to make the trip north for her first appearance in the series.

She will represent Victoria alongside fellow reinswoman Ellen Tormey, who will also make her debut appearance in the championship.

Phillips, 25, kick-started her driving career in season 2017-18 and has piloted 256 winners since that time, highlighted by the Group 1 Redcliffe Gold Cup with Sebs Choice last year.

The 32-year-old Tormey began driving in 2006-07 and has more than 900 winners to her name.

Held at Albion Park this Saturday night, drivers from Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, Queensland and New South Wales will battle it out for points throughout six series races.

The 2023 Australian Female Drivers Championship will be the first series since 2021 after a wash-out last year.
