Nathan Jack believes Im Ready Jet is the horse that can take him right to the top with victory in some of this country’s biggest and best trotting features across the coming months.
The top reinsman will have his first drive of the Anton Golino-trained mare under race conditions when he partners her in tonight’s Group 2 True Roman Trotters Free For All at Tabcorp Park Melton.
It will be her first start since winning the Group 1 Sumthingaboutmaori Trotters FFA in late March, and kicks off what Jack hopes is a long and successful campaign.
“I’m sure she’s got the ability to go all the way. I’m sure she’s got the ability to win the Inter Dominion,” Jack said.
“Her manners have let her down a couple of times in the past but I’m sure that everything being equal, she’s probably the best trotter in Victoria if not Australia.”
Jack was happy to say that Im Ready Jet shaped as a better horse than the great Dance Craze, a mare he drove to a number of wins including the Group 1 Breeders Crown Final as a three-year-old.
In all, the Golino-trained Dance Craze won 24 races and more than $550,000 in prizemoney.
“It’s always scary to say that because Dance Craze has got the form on the board. She was a Great Southern Star winner, and I don’t know how many Group 1s she won, but she was a great mare,” Jack said.
“I’m sure this mare has got the scope to go further, above and beyond what Dance Craze did…”
Despite his confidence in Im Ready Jet long-term, Jack has issued a warning to punters thinking of backing her in tonight’s True Roman.
“She’s absolutely vulnerable this week,” he said.
“You’ve got two options: you either go forward and probably have to sit outside Aldebaran Zeus or you go back and have to give them a start.
“She’s only first-up and I’m tipping the latter will probably be the better option…
“I’d be betting with caution if I was a punter this week.”
Im Ready Jet has won 19 of 40 races, with earnings up over $400,000.
The winner of tonight’s True Roman gets a golden ticket into the Inter Dominion Trotting Championship heats in November and December.
