Pleasant Creek Plate to highlight Stawell’s Good Friday card

Attention all owners and trainers of pacers with a National Rating up to 49…

If you’re scouring the meeting calendar for the ideal target, then search no more – Stawell has you covered.

As part of its Good Friday program on April 3, the club is poised to conduct a series consisting of heats and a final on the same day.

Known as the Pleasant Creek Plate, the event will consist of two qualifiers worth $5000 and will be contested over 1785 metres.

The first three from each heat will earn a berth in the $10,000 decider, which will be staged over the same distance.

The balance of the field will be completed by the next fastest five within the heats.

Along with the lion’s share of the prizemoney, the winning connections will receive a trophy and rug.

Runner-up in his heat during the inaugural edition, Surfsup Tigerpie then captured the final for trainer Ian Stanley.

Prepared by Julie Brimacombe, Ittakesluv completed a clean sweep of the following Plate.

The club designed the series to provide “bread and butter horses, and people who support our club, the chance to win some good prizemoney that they don’t get anywhere else”.

While the horses are the main focus, they won’t be the only athletes battling for glory along the home straight. Participants will compete in the Stawell Trainer Driver Gift – harness racing’s much ‘superior’ version of the famed Stawell Gift!

Off the track there is plenty of family fun, including an all-important Easter Egg Hunt, egg and spoon race, jumping castle and various activities.

Raising more than $7000 for last year’s Good Friday Appeal, the club hopes to exceed the tally this time around.

Nominations for the Pleasant Creek Plate close at noon on Monday, March 30.
