Room for Excuse as more Spring into Metrospective Blackbook

There were a number of eye catching performances at Tabcorp Park Melton on Saturday night and five horses found their way into the Monday Metrospective Blackbook.

Agreeing on two of the five, Trots Life hosts’ Jason Bonnington and Nikkita Ross worked their way through the 11-race program on SEN Track.

The Russell Jack-trained Spring in his Step caught the eye in his first run back this campaign as did Greg Scholefield’s Don’t Need an Excuse, who flashed home for third.

Here’s the latest additions to add to your Blackbook.

R1 N8 ALLSHOOKUP

NR: Had an economical pegline trip over the short distance, however, the way that he absolutely monstered the line when he saw clear air caught the eye.

R4 N3 LITTLE LOUIE

JB: This fellow improved at every trial then went gangbusters on debut and followed that with the bravest run imaginable in Saturday night’s TAB Sapling Stakes. Aaron Dunn trains them tough and this fellow is no exception.

R5 N10 SPRING IN HIS STEP

NR: It was everything you wanted to see from him first up. Made the move to sit without cover and went down under four metres in a 1:53 mile rate. He is a talented horse with a big campaign ahead and is one to watch with this run under his belt.

JR: He was backed to win a tough race over the short course first-up following an excellent Shepp trial and couldn’t have gone any bigger than he did. Slightly concerned about second-up syndrome next start but he’s a good horse going places.

R6 N5 HIGH FLYING HARRY

JB: Mark Pitt rolled the dice with former Kiwi early and he crossed with genuine four-star gate speed. The winner blazed past him pretty easily late, but he beat the rest by panels and the early/late speed weapons he possesses will hold him in excellent stead moving forward

R9 N9 DON’T NEED AN EXCUSE

NR: Was buried away four pegs during the run but the way he sprinted home and hit the line making up ground in a 26.6 final split was really impressive and enough to suggest another win won’t be too far away.

JB: Greg Scholefield does an excellent job with a small team and this bloke will be winning very, very soon based on his slashing late charge at Melton Saturday night.
