Another Star has been uncovered on the trial circuit, amid a further three horses added to Craig Rail's Trial File Blackbook.

Ideal Star, Act Now and Beautiful Woman have all gone into the book, which can be viewed at the bottom of the article, with several blackbookers set to run in coming days.

SHEPPARTON 02/04/20

Trial 1: - THREE SUMMAS hasn’t raced since being unplaced in the Breeders Crown Final in August but was able to lead throughout and take out the trial comfortably in fast time. BRINGITHOME began quickly but was content to take the trail behind THREE SUMMAS in the early stages. He enjoyed the perfect run and held down second. The former New South Wales trained pacer IDEAL STAR put in the most eye-catching performance of the trials. He eased back to last, moved away from the markers on the home turn and came with a big run out wide on the track, seemingly with something in reserve. A SPECIAL DREAM finished fourth after being four back on the markers throughout and CASTLE RETREAT dropped back to last position after settling down third.

BLACKBOOKER: - Ideal Star

Trial 2: - UPRIGHT (Art Major – Pretty Interest) settled three back on the markers and moved to the outside with 300m remaining. She sprinted home nicely to take out the trial. WATCHMEDAZZLE (He’s Watching – Shoom Shoom) settled four back on the markers and was 3 + 4 wide turning for home. He worked into second position ahead of OUTLOOK (Art Major – Vista Bella 1.57.9, $110,021), which used inside runs from fifth and picked up good ground via the sprint lane. MACH HAMMER (Mach Three – Carpenters Daughter 1.56.1, $293,378) settled down last of the six runners and tried to make a move at the 500m. He was forced out very wide on the home turn and moved into fourth ahead of the early leader GIANNIS AY MACRAY (Grinfromeartoear – Macray Rosewood) and GOODMORNING CHERYL (Rock N Roll Heaven – Trend Setter 1.55.6, $199,415) (trailed leader, raced roughly) came in at the tail of the field.

Trial 3: - BRIE began quickly and took cover behind the leader ROSALEE DOT COM. She hit the lead in the straight and appeared to be under pressure but she kicked on strongly to score. LIFE GETS BETTER settled in the one out and one back trail, came out three horses wide at the 400m and kicked on strongly for second. LETHAL LOVER went to go forward in the early stages but was left stranded out three deep and restrained to last. She then followed behind LIFE GETS BETTER coming up to the home turn and finished off well for a close up third. ROSALEE DOT COM tired into fourth after setting the speed and STARZZZOFMICHAEL (Four Starzzz Shark – Chess Timer 1.57.2, $25,400) finished fifth after being three back on the markers. VILLANELLE was sixth on the outside throughout and LOST FOUR WORDS failed to finish after breaking stride from the death seat at the 300m mark.

Trial 4: - CRACKER JET stepped away well and raced very greenly all of the way but was still able to win by a large margin. WANDA trailed behind CRACKER JET for the entire trip but couldn’t go with him and ended up finishing in a distant second. MIELICKI (Majestic Son – Lady Mackendon 2.0.9, $36,200) was slow away and lost 40m at the start, broke stride at the 600m and then again near the winning post. LOVE GUN (Love You – Spidergirl 1.56.8, $317,657) was the slowest into stride and settled down last before breaking stride at the 900m and was tailed off from that point.

Trial 5: - IMAPEST began quickly to lead and took cover at the 1600m. He came away from the inside at the 300m and was able to get home best to get the prize. STARRY MACH angled across to get in behind the leader, moved around to find the lead at the mile marker and was gunned down late to finish a close second. TREASURE is now with trainer Isabel Walsh after formerly being prepared by Emma Stewart. She settled last of the six runners, moved into the one out and one back trail and went to the line with something to spare. AXINITE settled four back on the markers, and was approximately 30m behind the leader early then moved up without cover from the 700m so he produced a reasonable run to finish fourth. IDEAL SUSPECT hung in at the start and broke stride momentarily before he settled five back on the markers. He finished in fifth position ahead of AVEIRO (3 back markers).

Trial 6: - ANDYOU stepped away in fourth position, moved into the one out and one back trail at the 600m mark and came out three horses wide on the home turn when she scored comfortably. DIZZYSJET raced without cover in the early stages, angled onto the markers in third position at the 1700m mark and moved into the death seat again at the bell. She batted on strongly for second in front of CAPRIOSKA, which trailed the leader and used the sprint lane. HATEITWHENYOURRITE settled five back on the inside and finished on well for fourth without being extended at any stage. MAJESTIC TIME stepped away well to lead but tired late and STEALTH was last throughout after missing away by approximately 30m.

Trial 7: - MISTER JOE MAJOR burst through from the second line to lead and always appeared to be in control of the trial when he scored comfortably over JETS ART (Major In Art – Neishars Jet 2.1.9, $12,861), which settled in the one out and one back trail and came out wide when turning for home. CHEEKI PHILTRA showed good gate speed to lead, took a trail and tried hard for third. PEPPA BLISS (Bitobliss – Safari Love) was without cover throughout and tired in the latter stages.  She finished fourth ahead of FLAMIN ALICE (Courage Under Fire – Kaleigh), which settled seven back on the markers and was held up for a run at a vital stage. ALITTLEBITOFFTAP (Modern Art – Shesallregal) settled down last and picked up WINGING GRIN (3 back markers) and COURAGEOUS LIFE (Courage Under Fire – Spring To Life 2.2.4, $1,688) (1-2) in the run to the finish.

Trial 8: - SULTAN SASS showed gate speed and led comfortably. She burst away over the final 200m and won by a clear margin. ROMANCES (Yankee Boy – The Secret Dance USA 2.6.0, $4,587) settled three back on the markers, moved up without cover from the quarter pole and finished in second position. DURANTEE (Majestic Son – Nirvana Castle) settled last of the four runners and picked up HAMMERS MUSCLE (Muscle Hill – Zoia Boko SWE), which trailed the leader and started yielding ground with 250m remaining.

ARARAT 04/04/20

Trial 1: - GOTTAHAVEAHOBBIE was an impressive winner at Maryborough on March 20 and he backed that up with an easy trial win over the Aaron Dunn prepared KEAYANG BAZOOKA. HARRIS MCKINNIS hasn’t raced since August and will strip fitter from his third placing while SOURCE TO MARTYR, which has had even longer off the racing scene having not started since 2018, saw the field safely home.

Trial 2: - GRACIE CULLEN is an honest mare and scored at Ballarat in a mile rate of 1.55.9 late last year. She hasn’t raced since December but she was able to win her trial comfortably over MARKLEIGH CAZ, which recently joined trainer Michael Gadsden after formerly being prepared by Kylie Bevington at Mildura. ROCK ALBERT finished in third position and the trotter MAJESTIC ACHIEVER was at the tail of the field.

Trial 3: - TICKTOK (Love You – Sundons Pride 2.1.4, $112,733) is a beautifully bred juvenile filly being out of the good race mare Sundons Pride. It was only a field of two runners but she was able to defeat ALONG CAME ASPIDER, which has been unplaced in four starts to date.

BENDIGO 05/05/20

Trial 1: - Only two trotters took part in the opening trial with the Brad Stevens trained EVERYBODY LOVESME, which galloped at her only start to date, leading throughout to defeat BARBS GIFT (Bacardi Lindy – Catchya Taddy 2.7.3, $12,099) in slow time.

Mile Rate: - 2.13.1          Final Half: - 63.9               Margin: - 2m

Trial 2: - POLLY PEACHUM showed her usual gate speed to lead and enjoyed a nice run throughout before having a good kick left at the finish. She was able to hold off the late challenge of SHAQ in the latter stages. SHAQ was inconvenienced and had to swing out wider on the track when ORION BLASTER galloped shortly after the start but he was able to get in behind the leader shortly afterwards. He moved to the outside on the home turn and just failed to peg back the leader. WHATA ROLLER settled four back on the markers, moved into the one out and one back trail then made a move out three horses wide at the 600m. He worked to the line quite nicely for third. PRIDDY SPUNGEE (Pet Rock – Billion Smiles 1.58.0, $25,480) settled three back on the markers and battled on fairly for fourth. ORION BLASTER (Caribbean Blaster – Starlit Orion) began quickly but galloped shortly after the start, tacked onto the group to be five back on the markers before moving up without cover from the bell. He started to tire and yielded ground approximately 500m from the line.

Trial 3: - FRATELLINO continued his good trial form at Bendigo with a comfortable victory over the pacer LIBERLAND. He raced without cover early before pressing forward to run to the top with a mile remaining and he scored with something in reserve. LIBERLAND settled five back on the markers, trailed forward out three horses wide from the 400m and finished off well out wide on the track to finish second. JAY BEE FLEX settled three back on the inside, gained a one out and one back trail in the back straight and came out three horses wide from the quarter pole. She worked into third position, beating home TIGER FOR LIFE, which pulled hard in the lead before taking cover, and MYSTIC CHIP (3 back markers, without cover 700m).

Trial 4: - DANMAN trailed the leader THE SPIN PROFESSOR and came to the outside with 500m remaining. He drew to the lead in the home straight and proved too good in the run to the finish. ABOVE AVERAGE settled five back on the markers before moving up without cover with 1500m remaining. He couldn’t gun down DANMAN but he found the line reasonably well. ELYSIAN PALACE (Major In Art – Lukes Little Lady 2.5.0, $7,820) settled three back on the markers and finished in third position with the early leader THE SPIN PROFESSOR dropping back to fourth. LONGASULOVEME (Pet Rock – Aniteattheopera 2.1.6, $13,300) was four back on the markers early before moving into the one out and one back trail at the bell. She finished in front of MY SHADY MATE (Shadyshark Hanover – Tarzar Jah), which began slowly and was twenty metres behind the pack around the first corner. He remained last of the six runners throughout.

Trial 5: - JUST OSCAR settled five back on the markers, moved up without cover at the bell and hit the front with 500m remaining. He drew clear over the final stages and scored by a large margin. ANGSKI (Angus Hall – Skye Rocket 2.5.1, $118,885) settled four back on the markers, moved around the field and was able to slot in behind the leader at the bell before giving chase at the 300m. She finished second and was well ahead of TRUMPIT LIL, which settled three back on the inside before moving around to lead at the mile marker. FLICK IT (Fling It – Sli Trix 2.4.0, $28,885) showed gate speed to lead then took cover but was struggling a long way from home. She finished fourth ahead of LONGARMOFTHELAW, which raced in various positions in the run but ended up in the one out and one back trail.

Trial 6: - ADAM CROCKER began well to trail the leader before being shuffled back on the inside and was held up behind tiring horses at the quarter pole. He came out wide on the track once he worked into the clear and produced a big winning burst. FEEL THE BUZZ settled five back on the markers before moving up without cover at the 1300m and hitting the front with 500m remaining. She led turning for home but was run down by ADAM CROCKER in the straight. KARLOS settled three back on the markers, worked into the one out and one back trail and finished on reasonably well for third. OURBEACHSOMEWHERE led out then took a trail and finished fourth ahead of AN ALLIANCE, which was driven aggressively early to find the lead before yielding ground in the final 500m.

Trial 7: - BELLMAC BAMBI showed good gate speed to lead, took a trail behind DYNAMIC DIESEL and waited for the sprint lane. She accelerated nicely over the latter stages and scored comfortably. DYNAMIC DIESEL was the first to the markers, took a trail then circled around to lead again at the 1600m. He enjoyed a good run in the lead and held down second. MEADOWVALLEY LOVER was the only 2yo trotter in the field and did a good job to finish in third position after she settled down last of the five runners and moved up without cover from the 500m. LOTTA FUSS was without cover early before finding the markers in third at the 1200m and LADY LIL finished at the tail of the field after being four back on the markers for the majority of the trial.

MARYBOROUGH 05/04/20

Trial 1: - It was such a slow start to the trial that NAAMARK galloped from the pole position and was still able to lead. She then took cover behind VAN GOGH (Modern Art – Hotgossip) and circled around to find the lead again with a mile remaining. She set up a slow speed thereafter and was too good in the run to the finish. WICKED AZZ settled three back on the markers and moved into the death seat at the 700m mark. She gave chase but couldn’t peg back the winner. VAN GOGH raced very greenly and when he was in front early, he switched off and wanted to pull up. He travelled better when trailing but took a bit of driving in the final 600m to try and maintain his position. The trotter QUAKER MAKER was last of the four runners throughout.

Trial 2: - I AM MARQUEZ was able to lead throughout and won the trial very easily. MAJOR BANKS trailed IAM MARQUEZ but was starting to struggle from the 500m and couldn’t keep in touch. The trotter DEALERS KNOCK was on his worst behaviour, galloping badly at the start and ended up being tailed off.

Trial 3: - SURBITON ARMISTICE was able to put his best foot forward having been able to find the lead in the early stages and he did everything right to win the trial. BOOTLEG BERT angled in for cover behind the leader and never peeled to the outside at any stage of the event. He went to the line with plenty in reserve. The remainder of field all made errors and came in at long intervals. LOVEE DOVEE (Love You – Sister of Sonoko 2.3.3, $14,103) settled in third position and was clear of the others so was able to remain in third. MAKE MINE MUSCLE (Muscle Mass – Susuwe 2.6.6, $15,791) began poorly and made up a lot of ground on the beaten brigade so he did show potential despite being beaten by a long way. ROCKYBOMBA (A Rocknroll Dance – Tiabamba 1.59.4, $10,803) settled a distant fourth and was past by MAKE MINE MUSCLE so she ended up in fifth position. ANOTHER SUCCESS (Great Success – Brylin Crescent 1.57.5, $74,586) and LUCY SAWYER (Tennotrump – Annies Last 2.9.2, $4,508) were always a long way behind, finishing sixth and seventh respectively.

BALLARAT 07/04/20

Trial 1: - TOUGH TILLY (Captaintreacheous – Beninjurd) trailed the leader and moved around to find the lead at the 1800m. She set up a slow tempo and was able to sprint home too well to win comfortably. SEACHANGE (A Rocknroll Dance – Seaside Beauty 1.55.7, $27,900) showed good gate speed to lead, took a trail and battled on well for second. TUPPENCE (Sir Lincoln (Lincoln Royal) – Star Crossed 1.56.2, $46,847) settled four back on the markers and obtained an inside run in the straight. He finished nicely for third and without being extended. QUICK DAN (American Ideal – Courageousnquick 1.56.1, $236,427) settled three back on the markers and finished fourth with CARRAMAR CEE SMITH being in fifth position after picking up some ground over the final stages. ATEGO JET settled six back on the markers and broke stride with 600m remaining, losing all chance.

Trial 2: - BEYOND DELIGHT (Bettors Delight – Whatahottie 1.54.3, $30,618) began quickly to lead and dashed home in a quick final half to win by a large margin. ACT NOW (Somebeachsomewhere – Mollys Ideal) broke at the start and lost approximately 30m, tacked onto the group at the 1100m mark and finished off strongly for second. It was a big performance and he obviously has a promising future. NAI HARN BAY trailed the leader and moved away from the markers at the 500m. He tried hard but was safely held by the two Emma Stewart trained juveniles. MOZZARELLA MAN broke at the start and lost almost 40m at the start. He finished fourth ahead of the trotter ME PAT MALONE, which began quickly but galloped shortly afterwards and ended up at the tail of the field. He broke stride again in the latter stages, finishing tailed off.

BLACKBOOKER: - Act Now

Trial 3: - BEAUTIFUL WOMAN (Art Major – Kabbalah Karen B 1.52.4, $285,098) settled three back on the inside and finished on strongly for a game victory. The final sectionals were fast and she is nicely bred so she appears to be very promising. CELEBRITY CHEF began quickly to find the lead and enjoyed a good run in transit. He led all of the way down the straight but was collared on the line. FLOAT ON BY has only started once and that performance was a victory in the Super Series Bronze event. He trailed the leader and finished in third position with HOWS THE SERENITY (Barna Straide – Blissfull Bird 1.57.3, $20,038) in fourth after settling four back on the inside. BREATHE EASY (Live or Die – Ayr Affair 2.2.1, $4,376) was last of the five runners throughout.

BLACKBOOKER: - Beautiful Woman

Trial 4: - CAN’T TOP THIS trailed the leader and moved up to the death seat at the 700m. He pressured the leader CALEDONIAN TERRA and drew to the lead turning out of the back straight. He continued his run and scored comfortably. PRELIMINARY settled last of the three runners and ran into a distant second with CALEDONIAN TERRA finishing at the rear of the field after yielding ground from the quarter pole.

Trial 5: - LIZZADRO began fairly from the pole position and took cover behind CHIEF SAFARI. He moved away from the inside at the 500m mark and got home best to score. ZALTA settled three back on the inside and moved onto the back of LIZZADRO leaving the back straight. He tried hard and finished second with CHIEF SAFARI tiring into third position. PUR DAN just lobbed along at the back and was never extended at any stage, finishing last of the four runners.

Trial 6: - MIRRAGON trailed the leader and came to the outside on the home turn when he dashed home too well to score comfortably. BAO NIEN settled three back on the inside and ran home well for second. ONA HIGHWAY TOHELL began quickly and tried to lead all of the way. He had his chance but finished a close up third and VILLAGE VOICE was last of the four runners throughout.

Trial 7: - STRUVE trailed the leader and moved away from the inside at the 600m when he outstayed the leader PIN STRIPES. It was a slow early speed but the last quarter was recorded in a fast 26.9 seconds so both horses performed nicely. BETTOROCKBETTOROLL was last of the three runners throughout the trial.

Trial 8: - POSTER BOY trailed the leader DEEDENUTO in a trial with only two horses competing and he came to the outside on the home turn, sprinting brilliantly in the straight. The final quarter was run in 27.3 seconds an he did it easily so he is right on track for a big return. DEEDENUTO was beaten by ten metres but he met a star pacer on the day.

Trial 9: - TENNERSON (Skyvalley – Poet Laureate 2.5.7, $44,598) trailed the leader TELEPHONE TILLY and was able to run past that filly in the final 100m to win comfortably in the run to the finish. TELEPHONE TILLY has been placed in two of her three starts to date and TENNERSON is yet to face the starter so it was good performance for him to get up and win.

Trial 10: - BACARDI CHARDY raced without cover early before trailing the leader. She moved into the breeze again at the 1100m before getting to the lead at the bell. Once in front, she was able to extend on her winning lead and she scored by a large margin. SHIPPS SUCCESS settled four back on the markers then moved into the breeze and got around into second position with 600m remaining. He ran away from the two juvenile trotters to finish in second position. MADGE EGAN (Skyvalley – Amaori Spur) finished in third position after settling down third, dropping back to fourth mid-race and picking up third in the run to the finish. MAJESTIC SAINT (Majestic Son – Heart of Glass) led out then took a trail but couldn’t go with the older horses in the last lap and came in last of the four runners.
