Star trotters to clash as barriers are confirmed for ID22 night one

A mouth-watering Trans-Tasman showdown looms on night one of the 2022 SENTrack Inter Dominion Trotting Championship in Ballarat.

Aussie superstar Majestuoso (Andy Gath) has drawn the coveted barrier one and Kiwi champion Bolt For Brilliance (Tony Herlihy) two for the second of three squaregaiting qualifiers at Bray Raceway on Saturday night.

Brent Lilley’s wonder mare Queen Elida has barrier nine in the first of the trotting heats, while the well-fancied Just Believe will begin from six off the front line.

Plenty of eyes will be on how Jess Tubbs’ top gelding One Over All handles the mobile after missing away in an educational trial at Melton last week. He has gate three, while Mufasa Metro – another of the key fancies for the series – has 10 in the third and final heat of the night.

Horses will accumulate points for finishing positions across the three rounds of heats, with the leading 12 at the conclusion of the qualifiers securing a place in the $250,000 grand final at Tabcorp Park Melton on December 10.

Points are allocated as follows: 1st (16), 2nd (13), 3rd (11), 4th (9), 5th (8), 6th (7), 7th (6), 8th (5), 9th (4), 10th (3), 11th (2) and 12th (1).

Shepparton will host heats on November 29 before the third and final round at Geelong on December 3.
