Poster Boy's win to cap Tabcorp Park racing on Saturday night was fitting, with his reinsman Greg Sugars and trainer Emma Stewart combining for the victory and also finishing top of the pops in region-based racing.

The curtain last night drew on stage one of region-based racing at Terang's Sunday meeting, with borders opening today as three regions replace the initial six.

Sugars amassed 35 wins from 116 starts and Stewart 43 wins from 102 starts since the instalment of region-based racing on April 2, when it was introduced to limit movement and constrict the potential spread of COVID-19.

While the Inner West region produced the top two performers, the East (Chris Alford), North-East (Josh Aiken) and Central (Alex Ashwood) also produced drivers in the statewide top five.

Additionally, the East produced two of the top five trainers (Brent Lilley and David Miles), while Central's Glenn Douglas (21 wins from 109 starts) was second overall.

And the West's Jilliby Sylvester was the first horse to amass four wins under region-based racing, a feat that would ultimately be shared with three others (Gobsmacked, Central; Santa Casa Beach, North East; Bernie Winkle, North West).
