Wagering platform Tabcorp is again sponsoring Victorian harness racing’s biggest event – the TAB Summer of Glory, bringing several partnerships together.

Woodlands Stud has renewed its partnership with Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) with naming rights to the Great Southern Star on 3 February. The New Zealand-based stud farm will also partner with HRV for the Victorian Derby later this year, a race it has sponsored since 2020.

Del-Re National Food Company has the naming rights to the A.G. Hunter Cup for a 12th successive year. Held at Melton, the Cup is the feature of the fourth and final night of TAB Summer of Glory, on 4 February.

Woodlands Stud Australian Manager Mark Hughes was excited to join the TAB Summer of Glory.

“As Australasia's leading southern hemisphere stud, Woodlands is delighted to continue its association with Harness Racing Victoria in 2023. It's very important for Woodlands Stud to continue its commitment to the industry, especially in Victoria, where we stand our stallions. Both Group 1 races for both gaits are clearly seminal amongst the industry and the decision to continue the relationship was an easy one,” Hughes said.

Del-Re National Food Group Head of Commercial Nicholas DiMartino said the company has a long-standing commitment to the harness racing industry.

“Del-Re National Food Group - one of Australia’s largest independently owned Victorian Foodservice Distributors - is pleased to continue its association with Harness Racing Victoria in 2023. We have proudly been sponsoring the Del-Re National A.G Hunter Cup for over 12 long-standing years. Harness racing has been a strong passion for directors at Del-Re National for over 40 years and we wish to continue to grow and succeed with the industry,” DiMartino said.

HRV Chief Commercial Officer Fiona Mellor thanked all the partners for coming on board.

“Our partners form a huge part of our harness racing offering and are the reason HRV can bring together such a high calibre of racing. A big thanks to TAB, Woodlands Stud and Del-Re National Food Group for their continued support of the industry,” Mellor said.
