The Week Ahead: Wall-to-wall Trots Vision coverage planned for APTS heats

The Trots Vision coverage will be ramped up for tomorrow night’s Australasian Premier Trotting Sale series meeting at Tabcorp Park Melton.

Caller Dan Mielicki will join Rob Auber for the wall-to-wall coverage, which will kick off shortly before the first race at 5.07pm.

Two heats of the APTS series are part of the eight-race card, with one for the three-year-old colts and geldings and another for the three-year-old fillies. They provide a pathway to $50,000 Group 1 finals at Melton on August 21.

Tomorrow, small but quality fields have been assembled in both divisions.  Vicbred Super Series 2YO Trotting Colts and Geldings third place-getter Aldebaran Zeus (Brent Lilley) is one of the fancied runners in the clash for the boys, while Group 1 winner Banglez (Emma Stewart) and 2021 NSW Trotters Oaks champion Aldebaran Ursula (Kerryann Morris) are key hopes in the battle between the girls.

The Wednesday meeting is one of three at Tabcorp Park in coming days, with the Saturday night metropolitan card highlighted by the TAB Melton Pace Final and the Hip Pocket Workwear and Safety Coulter Crown – both at Group 3 level – as well as the Melton Mares Championship.

The exciting Jilliby Babavska (Paddy Lee), whose last win was the Group 3 Lenin Trotters Free For All in November of 2019, is one of the intriguing runners on the 10-event card. It will be his first start in more than a year and a half after overcoming injury.

In another big week of Victorian racing, double headers are planned for both Thursday and Friday, while Melton fires back up for a rare Monday meeting after the weekend.
