Sleepee, Queen Elida and Electrojet will slug it out for Group 1 glory and overall honours in the Kerryn Manning Trotting Mares Triple Crown on a blockbuster night at Victorian headquarters this Saturday.
They are the three horses still in contention to win the overall series, which takes in the Lyn McPherson Breed For Speed Gold Series Final and La Coocaracha Trotters Free For All – won by Sleepee and Queen Elida respectively – as well as this weekend’s Sumthingaboutmaori Trotters Free For All at Melton.
The Brent Lilley-trained Queen Elida opened favourite with the TAB for Saturday night’s $75,000 feature after drawing gate six, with Alison Alford’s Sleepee in three and Anton Golino’s Electrojet outside the back row in nine.
Electrojet’s stablemate Im Ready Jet is second favourite from barrier two, but cannot win the Kerryn Manning Trotting Mares Triple Crown having not competed in the earlier races.
The series carriers at $10,000 bonus for the winner, with Sleepee currently on 11 points and three ahead of Queen Elida. Marg Lee’s Keayang Livana is third on seven but won’t be contesting the Sumthingaboutmaori, with Electrojet the only other possible winner on five.
Points are allocated for each race in the Triple Crown, with eight for first, five for second, three for third, two for fourth and one for fifth.
Saturday night’s meeting will get the full TrotsVision coverage, with Ryan Phelan joining Steve Cleve, Shannon O’Sullivan and Dan Mielicki to bring you all the action from the nine-race card.
And there’ll be a bumper broadcast from the Goulburn Valley on Friday night, too. Rob Auber, Jason Bonnington, Toby McKinnon and Lachlan McIntosh will be trackside to take you through a feature meeting that includes the pacing and trotting cups as well as the Tiffany Murray Memorial Pace.
