Time in the paddock is set to give Billysophia a lift

A spell might have been the elixir Billysophia needed ahead of her return in Friday night’s Classic Connection Vicbred Super Series first heat for three-year-old trotting fillies at Geelong.

The Arthur Lasgis-geared squargaiter made her last race day appearance on April 10,2024, but has since made her way back via the Maryborough trials.

“She is just coming back from a spell because she had a few troubles,” Lasgis said. “I have now rectified the problem.

“She trialled at Maryborough and absolutely flew out of the gate, it was unbelievable.”

The daughter out of Miss Cully struggled to run out her races causing the Ararat horseman to try and find a solution.

“I took her to the races, but she stopped half-way and I couldn’t understand why,” the 75-year-old said. “I took her to the vet and everything and tried to find a solution and in the end I rectified the problem.”

Billysophia has drawn 11 for the 2100m event with Anthony Butt set to pilot.

“I think it is a pretty tough draw for her,” Lasgis said.

The $10,000 event is set to go at 5.10pm with the Group 1 finals being held at Melton Entertainment Park on September 14.
