SHEPPARTON 05/08/21

Trial 1: - PERFECT STRIDE settled five back on the markers, moved into the one out and one back trail at the 600m and was given a very good hit-out, being driven out to the line and putting a gap on his rivals. He was clearly the class runner of the trial but he did appear to be very sharp in his runaway victory. MONGIANA was without cover throughout so he did a very good job to finish second with SCORCHER being third after trailing the leader and using the sprint lane. MONGIANA is competing against a strong field at Yarra Valley this afternoon but is capable of improving on his numerical form. WAYONBYE was one out and one back then got shuffled back a position further when he was inconvenienced by the galloping BOOTS ELECTRIC. He finished well for fourth and got in front of the early leader CASTLE RETREAT in the run to the finish. WAYONBYE is backing up at Shepparton on Sunday and is not without a chance. ONE TWO MANY was three back on the markers and beat home BREVITY, which settled last of the pack and BOOTS ELECTRIC was the tail of the field after galloping from the one out and one back trail at the half mile marker.

He caught up to his rival ALDEBARAN ROCKY with a lap remaining before moving to the outside at the 800m mark. He hit the front at the 500m and scored softly at the end. He is returning from a spell in the Coulter Crown at Ballarat tomorrow night against a top field so he would need to get away better from the standing start but he is an extremely talented horse.
