Three members of Craig Rail's Trial File Blackbook will go around Saturday night at Shepparton, including new addition Tailored Elegance.

The former Kiwi caught Rail's eye at Bendigo on Wednesday and has gone in ahead of his Australian debut.

Here's the latest from Victoria's trial circuit. Scroll to the bottom for the updated blackbook.

SHEPPARTON 27/08/20

Trial 1: - CHANGEOVER GIRL (Changeover – Shortys Treasure 1.58.8, $24,110) settled down in seventh early, moved up without cover at the 1400m, gained a one out and one back trail at the 1100m and started her winning run out three horses wide from the 300m. She won nicely from CROWBAR JOHNSON, which settled in sixth position and ran home well from out four horses wide on the home turn. HONOLUA BAY (Somebeachsome – National Gallery 1.54.4, $90,600) is a nicely bred gelding for trainer David Aiken. He was fifth on the markers, used the sprint lane and ran home well without being pushed to produce an eye-catching third. APHRODISIAC showed gate speed to lead early, copped some pressure and took a trail at the mile marker. She finished fourth in front of REALITY WRITER, which trailed the leader initially, ended up being three back on the markers and found the one out and one back trail on the home turn. WONGA LAKE was driven aggressively in the early stages to move up on the outside of the leader and applied some pressure. He eventually found the lead with 1600m remaining but the early effort took a toll and he dropped back to sixth late. HOLSTEIN was fifth on the markers early before moving into the death seat at the 1100m. He finished seventh ahead of the trotter BULLION LADY (8th the markers) and DAYBREAK DRAMA (9th the markers, 1-3) finished at the tail of the field.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.6            Final Half: - 59.8               Margins: - 2m, 1m

BLACKBOOKER: - Honolua Bay

Trial 2: - SO AWESOME began quickly and trailed the leader, moved off the markers on the home turn and was able to get home best to win narrowly. BACARDI WOOD showed good gate speed to lead, set up a slow tempo and was just run down on the line. OCTOBER WIND (Dejarmbro – Oceania 2.2.6, $76,306) settled three back on the markers and finished in third ahead of the juvenile trotter QUEEN INVASION (Muscle Hill – Invasions Pride 2.5.6, $36,765) with MYNAMESGRAHAM being last after galloping wildly at the start and being tailed off for the remainder of the trial.

Mile Rate: - 2.8.3            Final Half: - 62.4               Margins: - Neck, 12m

Trial 3: - NIGHT SCHOOL (Blissfull Fella – The Charm School) was fifth on the markers, moved up without cover at the 900m, hit the front on the turn then raced roughly in the straight when a good winner albeit in slow time. He produced a very good effort on debut at Shepparton on Thursday. LIFE WELL LIVED (Rock N Roll Heaven – Tuscan Breeze 1.56.0, $88,311) was three and four back on the markers, moved into the one out and one back trail and switched back to the sprint lane over the latter stages. He went to the line with plenty in reserve and considering how well NIGHT SCHOOL performed on debut, the future looks bright for him. COVERED KYLIE was fourth on the markers, moved to the death seat at the 1200m and was able to angle in behind the leader at the bell. She finished a distant third behind GIANNIS AY MACRAY, which trailed the leader before moving around to find the front with 1700m remaining. MILLY PATONE (Follow The Stars – Spur On Magpie 2.1.3, $4,750) led out, took a trail and was struggling to keep up mid-race before yielding his position at the bell and finishing at the tail of the field.

Mile Rate: - 2.6.7            Final Half: - 58.5               Margins: - 2m, 12m

BLACKBOOKER: - Life Well Lived

Trial 4: - WESTERN SONADOR showed very good gate speed to lead, ran along at an even tempo then sprinted home in a good last 800m to get the prize over REACTOR NOW, which finished fast after being seventh on the markers early. He ended up being in the one out and one back trail at the 1100m and came out three horses wide on the home turn before finishing quickly without being fully extended. BLINGITTOTHEMAX settled four back on the inside before moving into a trailing position (1-2) at the 600m. He worked home well and finished a handy third in front of WAYONBYE, which moved up without cover from last at the mile marker. MISTER ZHIVAGO settled third on the markers and was held up for a run late. He was taking on very tough opposition so his trial performance was sound. LETSROCKLETSROLL began quickly to trail the leader and finished sixth ahead of BUSTER BRADY (8th markers, 1-2 at 1100m, 1-3 at 600m), which raced roughly in the final 600m and didn’t really run on at the end. MAGIC IN HER MOVES (5 back markers) and ARTS DASH (6 back markers) were eighth and ninth respectively.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.7            Final Half: - 57.1               Margins: - 1m, 8m

TERANG 29/08/20

Trial 1: - The trial video replays are now available online for Terang, which provides a tremendous service to those who are requiring the information. Thank you to all of the clubs and the people involved, many of which are volunteers for the professional service and for providing relevant information to the industry.  KEAYANG MAJESTIC was able to lead throughout and win the opening trial comfortably. DICKO DIXON trailed and came away from the markers at the 250m to try and challenge but he just held his ground over the latter stages.

Mile Rate: - 2.12.6          Final Half: - 60.8               Margin: - 5m

Trial 2: - HIGHWAY TO HEAVEN trailed the leader and obtained an inside run from the 500m. He showed good acceleration to dash away and score from THE DUX (Western Terror – Takeiteasyonme 1.58.3, $53,148), which came from last of the three runners with the early leader WHERESMILZEE dropping back into third position after hanging out badly in the back straight on the final occasion.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.8            Final Half: - 58.1               Margins: - 12m, 8m

Trial 3: - ELEGANT JET (Quaker Jet – Schleck $16,489) began quickly to find the lead and never appeared to be in any danger of defeat. He went to the line jogging with seemingly plenty in reserve. The juvenile trotter SELLUNE produced a big performance in second position. He broke at the start and lost approximately 40m before tacking onto the group and trotting home well late. DOUBLE HELIX trailed the leader throughout and finished last of the three runners.

Mile Rate: - 2.7.8            Final Half: - 64.7               Margins: - 10m, 3m

Trial 4: - BAD BILLY was clearly the class runner of the field and showed very good gate speed to lead. He was really able to stride out nicely in the final 800m and recorded a quick final sectional to post an easy victory. IM PAIGE performed well in second position as he settled down in fourth spot and moved away from the inside at the 500m mark. She sustained the run to gain second and was well ahead of SEAROVER, which settled three back on the markers and came out three horses wide on the home turn. He was beaten by a large margin but he was the most loosely assessed horse in the field and he came out to win at Ballarat on Wednesday. FOR TONY trailed the leader throughout and dropped out to finish last of the four competitors.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.3            Final Half: - 56.8               Margins: - 25m, 10m

Trial 5: - FREMARKSPOETRY was aided by KEAYANG IGNITE galloping in the home straight but was a very impressive winner. She settled three back on the markers, pulled hard and trotted home strongly once she came to the outside with 500m remaining. KEAYANG IGNITE set the speed and was in for the fight turning for home. He was still a length clear when he broke stride with 150m remaining and it is difficult to determine which of the two handy trotters would have taken the prize had he remained in the correct gait. MAORI AMOUR was last on the markers throughout but was able to beat home KYVALLEY SHERRIF, which led early before taking a trail behind KEAYANG IGNITE.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.7            Final Half: - 59.7               Margins: - 25m, 10m

BLACKBOOKER: - Fremarkspoetry

Trial 6: - CALCULATING DANCER (A Rocknroll Dance – Calculating) settled down last of the three runners, came away from the inside at the 400m and sprinted nicely to get the prize in the final trial. ASMILEANDAWINX (Blissfull Hall – Miles of Smiles 1.59.3, $5,948) tried to lead throughout and finished in second position with MONTEPULCIANO (Sportswriter – Long Black 1.57.2, $8,088) being last of the three runners to cross the line after trailing the leader throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.2            Final Half: - 59.7               Margins: - 3m, 7m

CRANBOURNE 29/08/20

Trial 1: - NAKED AMBITION was without cover early, angled in to trail the leader then came away from the markers on the home turn to win easily. She appeared to have plenty left in reserve at the finish. GOOBER finished second after setting the speed and WHOSE ME MUM was last of the three runners for the majority of the journey and dropped off a little in the latter stages.

Mile Rate: - 2.8.8            Final Half: - Not given     Margins: - 1.5m, 12m

Trial 2: - CORA MOR trailed the leader and pulled very hard prior to moving into the death seat at the 600m. She hit the lead on the home turn and was just able to repel the challenge of ICANMOTOR over the final stages. ICANMOTOR should have won the trial. He started from the second line, even though it was a field of just three runners, settled down last and hung in badly over the latter stages. If he kept on a straight course over the final stages, there is no doubting he would have claimed victory. THE FALCON PRINCE finished last of the three starters after setting up a slow tempo in the leading role.

Mile Rate: - 2.6.4            Final Half: - 60.1               Margins: - Head, 15m

Trial 3: - MALIBU JACK trailed the leader and used the sprint lane but he accelerated beautifully in the straight and jogged home to win. He backed up the trial success with an effortless victory at Cranbourne on Thursday. WILL AND ANDY tried to lead throughout and finished second with GEE HEE ROCKS being in third position. He commenced from the second line, settled down last of the three runners then moved into the death seat with 700m remaining.

Mile Rate: - Not Given   Final Half: - Not Given    Margins: - 9m, 15m (approximately)

MILDURA 30/08/20

Trial 1: - AUSSIE CASH began quickly to lead, set up a very genuine tempo and scored easily. He drew a poor alley for his first up performance at Mildura tonight but he showed enough ability in the trial win to suggest he has the ability to win a race at short notice. MODS was without cover early, dropped back to be third on the markers and moved away from the inside on the home turn. He worked home nicely for a distant second, despite having a broken lugging pole. ARTISTIC HUMMA prepared for his Mildura debut tonight with a third placing. He trailed the leader, moved away from the markers at the 600m and tried hard but peaked on his run late. He does strike a suitable assignment from the pole position this evening. MOLLIES PASSION (Universal Rock – Ronzel Minder) settled four back on the markers but the very genuine tempo took a toll in the last lap and she yielded ground to finish a distant fourth. CHALKNCHEDDAR (Betterthancheddar – Carly Michelle) was slow out, settled fifth on the markers and finished in fifth ahead of AUCKLAND LASS (Auckland Reactor – Danamite Lass 1.55.9, $60,348), which broke at the start and lost approximately 40m in the early stages.

Mile Rate: - 1.58.8          Final Half: - 61.2               Margins: - 9m, 12m

Trial 2: - BOTTLE ROCK was three horses wide early, moved up without cover at the 1500m and pulled hard so he put in a tidy performance to get the prize. He has drawn on the second row at Mildura this evening but he should improve on his first up Mildura performance. HILLDALE SUNRISE raced in the one out and one back trail throughout and tried hard for second with HAPPYASLARRY (1-2) being in third position. PARTYWITHMACH began quickly to lead and set up a very genuine tempo. She was overtaken before the turn and finished fourth with CELEBRITA being in fifth after trailing the leader before breaking stride at the 700m. THE ANT KILLER was slow out and raced roughly, dropping back a considerable margin before ending up being approximately 30m from the pack with 1200m remaining. He was last throughout in a truly run trial.

Mile Rate: - 1.58.1          Final Half: - 59.0               Margins: - 7m, 6m

Trial 3: - BEZZABOMA gained a one out and one back trail, came out three horses wide from the 500m mark and finished off boldly to grab victory on the line. CALGARY BAY began quickly to lead and rolled along at a genuine tempo in the early stages. She got a little bit leg weary late but was only just run down on the line. KEAYANG SANDY picked up third position after trailing the leader and VIEIRA boxed on reasonably well for fourth after trailing the leader throughout. HIS A DREAMER settled sixth on the outside and finished fifth with SMYNIC (3 back markers) being last of the six runners but being held up for a run for the majority of the straight.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.2            Final Half: - 63.6               Margins: - Head, 7m

MARYBOROUGH 30/08/20

Trial 1: - RACKEMUP TIGERPIE completely dominated in a field of just two horses. He led all of the way and was given a good hit-out, rolling along in fast time and stretching out beautifully at the end. MAJESTIC MAJOR trailed throughout and couldn’t go with the 2019 Ballarat Cup runner up. He was beaten by 50m at the end.

Mile Rate: - 1.57.6          Final Half: - 56.6               Margins: - 50m

Trial 2: - HADES SKY trailed the leader, moved away from the inside 250m from home and sprinted home too well at the end, scoring by a comfortable margin. The early leader TIARA STRIDE was collared on the home turn and finished in third position.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.0            Final Half: - 62.0               Margins: - 15m, 10m

Trial 3: - SOHO WHISPER settled third on the markers, moved to the outside at the 1700m and pushed forward to find the lead at the 1500m when she held on to win over SOHO MAJOR PLAYER, which led out then took the trail in the back straight before picking up ground late. MAJOR BANKS trailed the leader early then ended up being three back on the markers and held his ground into third position. ALWAYS A DUCHESS was four back on the markers before moving to the outside at the quarter pole. SPRINGA finished last of the five runners after settling down at the tail of the field and popping into the one out and one back trail behind ALWAYS A DUCHESS turning out of the back straight with 400m remaining.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.8            Final Half: - 58.2               Margins: - 1m, 4m

Trial 5: - SAYITAINTSO JOE settled third on the markers, moved into the death seat at the mile marker and quickly ran to the lead with 1400m remaining. He went to the line strongly to win by a comfortable margin. LET IT LINGA (Captaintreacherous – Delightful Lana 1.54.5, $148,269) led out then took a trail behind SAYITAINTSO JOE. He tried hard in the straight and picked up a little bit of ground but never looked like scoring. TELEMACHUS is listed as being placed in trials four and five. The third horse in trial five was broadcast as ISABELLA PRINCESS (Hurrikane Kingcole – Tennison Drive). She raced without early, switched in behind the leader and ended up being three back on the inside. The horse listed in running fourth is MATACEY MAC (Live Or Die – Ricks Girl 2.2.3, $4,975) but was in fact broadcast on the morning as ONEHANDONCEBOUNCE (A Rocknroll Dance – Anna Blue 1.57.8, $11,311). He hung in badly at the start, ended up being in last position, came away from the markers and moved to second in the back straight but peaked on his run late.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.3            Final Half: - 57.8               Margins: - 2m, 30m

Trial 7: - LOOKIN FRESH was three back on the markers, moved into the one out and one back trail at the 800m and finished off too well for his rivals to win easily. HUEY TREVOR (Auckland Reactor – Eastern Art) was fourth on the markers, moved up without cover at the 800m and boxed on quite well to finish in second position. MATTS DELIGHT trailed the leader but was inconvenienced when caught behind the tiring leader approaching the home turn. He finished third ahead of HOWS THE SERENITY (Barna Straide – Blissfull Bird 1.57.3, $20,038), which was three back on the markers throughout and the early leader MAJOR POWERS tired to be last of the five runners to greet the judge.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.7            Final Half: - 59.6               Margins: - 8m, 1m

BENDIGO 30/08/20

Trial 1: - Abandoned

Trial 2: - KYVALLEY CLICHY is a smart trotter that boasts ten career victories and $155,820 in stakes. He dashed home in a quick final half to defeat his nicely bred stable mate BIRTHDAY SUIT with RIGONDEAUX finishing in third position. He chased hard and produced a game run for second placing. He backed up to win at very lucrative odds at Bendigo on Thursday night. COOLNCALM was fourth on the markers, moved into the one out and one back trail and finished third just in front of REALY UNDER FIRE, which led out then took a trail behind SICARIO. NIKITA ADELE was four back on the markers for the majority of the trip and beat home BE WHO YOU ARE, which was last throughout.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.6          Final Half: - 56.6               Margins: - 12m, Head

Trial 5: - IMNOPUMPKIN began quickly to lead, ran along at a genuine tempo and just held on in the run to the finish. THE TRAINMAN (Four Starzzz Shark – Waterslide 1.58.7, $63,662) produced a big run for second considering he is unraced, IMNOPUMPKIN has won two races to date and the mile rate was a slick 1.56.5. He trailed the leader, moved to the outside with 250m remaining and finished a narrow second. ISOLATION (Bettors Delight – Misty Miller 1.58.1, $144,711) was four back on the inside and moved off the markers on the turn. He finished third in front of OUR SPITFIRE (3 back markers), which for a trotter with a low National Rating (52) performed extremely well to keep up for as long as he did.

BLACKBOOKER: - The Trainman

Trial 6: - TAILORED ELEGANCE is an extremely smart former New Zealander, which created a big impression. She settled last of the four runners, moved into the one out and one back trail at the 700m and came out three horses wide at the 400m before jogging home to score. It did appear as though she could have put a big gap on her rivals if driver Chris Alford allowed her to stride. ALDEBARAN DEEBEE began quickly to lead, and battled on well for second in reasonable time. BAD BOY LEROY was third after trailing the leader throughout and MARVELLOUS MAX (3 back markers, without cover at 800m) was last of the four runners to cross the line after breaking stride with 250m remaining.

Trial 2: - GO DANCING (A Rocknroll Dance – Celebrity Guest 1.55.2, $68,155) is an unraced 2yo colt, and was taking on the multiple classic place getter in JEMSTONE. Despite giving away age and experience to his rivals, he came off the inside from three back on the markers at the 500m and was able to jog on past to win easily. He looks to have a promising future. JEMSTONE was second after setting the speed and IMA DENNY TOO was without cover early, went back onto the markers in fourth position then ran home well late for third. EVIE BEAUTIFUL (Somebeachsomewhere – Soho Artemis) trailed the leader and ran in fourth position ahead of DANCE CRAZE, which was one out and one back for the majority of the trial but made an error late. Mile Rate: - 1.58.1          Final Half: - 56.6               Margins: - Walkover

Trial 4: - ROHAAN trailed the leader, moved up without cover from the 300m and trotted home strongly to get the prize. QUAKE PROOF began quickly to lead, set up a slow tempo and was run down in the latter stages. EURYPHAESSA broke stride at the start, losing approximately 40m and did a very good job to finish as close as she did. She tacked onto the leading group mid-race and was still boxing on late in third position. ESSEX PLAYER broke stride at the start and lost valuable ground. He was with EURYPHAESSA in the early stages but didn’t really chase the group and finished tailed off.

ARAIGNEE FLAIR trailed the leader, came to the outside to launch a challenge but broke stride at the 400m and lost all chance.

Mile Rate: - 2.7.6            Final Half: - 58.6               Margins: - 15m, 80m

KILMORE 01/09/20

Trial 1: - KYVALLEY HEIST pressed forward out three horses wide to find the lead in the early stages, copped some pressure from the 1700m and took cover turning out of the back straight on the first occasion. He came away from the inside at the 600m, quickly hit the front at the quarter pole and drew away from his rivals to win nicely. HERE COMES KYVALLEY began quickly to lead early but was shuffled right back to be fourth on the markers, came wide on the home turn and finished strongly late to pick up second position. SIX NATIONS raced without cover early, found the lead, took cover and ended up being three back on the markers. He came to the outside with 300m remaining and worked into third position. TENNERSON (Skyvalley – Poet Laureate 2.5.7, $44,598) gained a one out and one back trail, ended up without cover, pressured the leader and found the front at the 1400m but the early effort took a toll and he faded into fourth position. IMASOCIALBUTTERFLY went from behind the leader early to be last on the markers with all of the moves in the early stages of the event. She stayed in last position for the remainder of the trial.

HEZA BRAXTON showed good gate speed to lead but broke stride with 300m remaining when being challenged by the winner ART OF SHENG LI.
