MONARO MARO tried to lead throughout and ran reasonable time but she just found one better on the day. STUNNING JASPER began quickly and finished third after trailing the leader throughout. Trial 5: - KEAYANG SILVAGNI continued his extremely good trial form with a victory over VOUCHERS. He did well to stave off the smart mare VOUCHERS as she trailed him throughout the trial and had her chance in the final 100m. BURNFOURU pulled hard behind the leader FIGHTING FIRE and held on well for third with FIGHTING FIRE fading into fourth late. CONFESSION settled three back on the inside and came in at the tail of the field.

She went to the line strongly in a quick final half so her performance was sound. ILLAWONG MUSTANG settled four back on the inside, gained a trailing position behind ERROR and went to the line jogging with plenty in reserve. He was an eye-catching third in front of SEIZE POWER, which was fifth on the markers before moving into the death seat on the turn into the back straight on the final occasion. Trial 8: - C K SPUR competed during last season’s Inter Dominion series so he is a very smart former New Zealand trotter. He pulled very hard in the score up and in the early stages of the trial, dropped back to be last on the markers, moved into the one out and one back trail at the 600m and sprinted quickly. He beat the pacers comfortably and he should perform well in Australia. Trial 9: - MATADEROS has always shown great potential but his manners have let him down many times. He has joined trainer Paddy Lee and he appeared to be very impressive in his victory over the pacer MANTHADEE. He trailed the leader, worked to the front at the 1400m, pulled hard and ran his last mile in 1.58.7! MANTHADEE commenced from the handicap of 60m and 30m behind MATADEROS at the start. She tacked onto the group, was four back on the markers and started making her run from the death seat with 600m remaining. MOREFLINGTHANBLING settled three back on the markers from the handicap of 30m and finished in third position ahead of the juvenile trotter ROHAAN (Orlando Vici – Class Of Her Own 2.0.7, $45,025). ROHAAN was the only horse to start off the front line but considering the times that MATADEROS was carving out in front, he did a good job to finish as close as he did.
