It was a trial that had to be seen to be believed and the performance of Alpha Male certainly wasn't missed by Craig Rail, who has promptly slotted Emma Stewart's star trotter into his Blackbook.

The son of Majestic Son hasn't raced since winning at Group 1 level in March of 2019, but looks set for a big preparation based off his efforts early this week.

He is one of five new Blackbook entries, which can be found throughout this week's Trial File.

SHEPPARTON 02/09/21

Trial 1: - LILS NIGHTMARE began quickly and was without cover in the early stages, pushed forward to find the lead at the mile marker and was able to hold her rivals safely at bay. The former Queenslander was trialling well prior to her Victorian debut at Echuca on Thursday, where she endured a tough run and finished third. THAT’S ART (Modern Art – That’s Reality) settled four back on the markers before moving into the death seat at the 900m mark. He loomed up on the home turn but wobbled out wide on the track when entering the straight before knuckling down over the concluding stages. AWAYOVERNIGHT began quickly to lead early before taking cover behind the eventual winner LILS NIGHTMARE. He tried hard for third with SONIC EXPRESS (A Rocknroll Dance – Smouldering Desire) being fourth after showing gate speed and ending up being three back on the markers. BONNY MACBETH was last of the five runners throughout. AWAYOVERNIGHT has drawn favourably at Wedderburn on Sunday and BONNY MACBETH returns from a break at Maryborough on Monday.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.0            Last Half: - 58.9               Margins: - 2m, 3m

Trial 2: - WALKABOUT CASCADE began very fast and shot to a clear lead in the early stages. He raced keenly in the front running role throughout and went to the line untouched to win easily. He dashed home along the sprint lane and missed out narrowly at Bendigo on Wednesday night. BERRIESANDCHERRIES (Crazed – Meredith Castle 2.0.8, $38,427) settled approximately 20m behind WALKABOUT CASCADE early before working into the trail behind him in the back straight on the first occasion. She went back to the sprint lane in the home straight and tried hard but couldn’t match the speed of the winner. IM BOBBY began slowly and was approximately 50m behind the leading pair at the mile marker. He was able to catch up to the group with a lap remaining but dropped off again over the concluding stages.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.4            Last Half: - 62.0               Margins: - 10m, 18m

Trial 3: - LESTER began quickly and was able to work across to find the lead 100m after the start. He set up a slow tempo mid-race and was untroubled in scoring. SMOOTH ROLLING was four back on the markers, moved into the one out and one back trail at the 600m and came out three horses wide at the quarter pole. He worked home well to finish second with MILLION DOLLAR ART being in third position after trailing the leader throughout. TORMENTARE (Western Terror – Kensington Gardens 2.1.9, $7,965) prepared for her debut performance at Echuca on Thursday with a fourth placed effort. She settled three back on the markers, moved into the death seat at the 600m mark and battled on fairly well over the latter stages. She was left stranded without cover and faded into seventh at her debut effort on Thursday night. KING MAJOR (Falcon Seelster – Exotic Union) was five back on the markers throughout and started to yield ground with 400m remaining. ANTIHERO (Red Samurai – Golden Antigone) dropped back to last early and dropped off the pack in the back straight on the final occasion.

Mile Rate: - 2.6.2            Last Half: - 58.1               Margins: - 4m, 5m

Trial 4: - MAJOR ROLL was clearly the class runner of the field based on assessments and was able to stroll to the lead in the early stages. He was unchallenged from the start and finished off in a sizzling final half of 55.6 seconds to win comfortably. LOCHINVAR CHIEF prepared for his race track return at Geelong this evening with an eye-catching second. He dropped back to be last of the four horses and was still at the tail of the field on the home turn before flying home out wide late, seemingly with plenty in reserve. The only part of his trial, which was of some concern was the skip he had in his gait but he should prove hard to beat from the pole position at Geelong tonight. LASTING BOND trailed the leader throughout and held down third position. GOODLOOKIN ROOSTER looked for a forward position at the start but galloped and scrambled to find his feet, losing his chance of finding the back of the leader. He recovered to settle down in third position but couldn’t go with the leading trio at the end. He was aggressively driven at Echuca last night and ran an enormous race for third behind Dealmaker.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.0            Last Half: - 55.6               Margins: - 20m, 2m

Trial 5: - CMON CARL LEE stepped away safely and angled in behind the leader. He settled in the run, moved to the outside with 300m remaining and got home a little too well in the run to the finish. WALKABOUT SUNRISE stepped away best and found the lead before setting up a slow tempo. He finished a narrow second with the pacer MISSKONTIKI being in third position after settling last of the three runners and waiting for the sprint lane in the straight. It is fair to say that all of the three horses went to the line with plenty in reserve in a trial that was a lot more like track work than a serious workout. WALKABOUT SUNRISE was unplaced at Bendigo on Wednesday night and MISSKONTIKI was seventh after having little luck early at Echuca on Thursday.

Mile Rate: - 2.6.2            Last Half: - 60.2               Margins: Neck, Neck

TERANG 05/09/21

Trial 1: - KENYA began quickly from the outside of the front line to find the lead and backed off the tempo mid-race. He was able to hold off the late challenge of NOTNEGOTIABLE, which trailed him throughout and came to the outside on the home turn. OCTOBER REIGN settled three back on the markers and was the first horse to come to the outside. He was three horses wide coming into the front straight and held his ground in the run to the finish. He should strip fitter from that performance and is a winning chance despite drawing awkwardly at Geelong tonight. SPORTY CULTURE was four back on the markers and waited for the sprint lane. He finished ahead of HEAVENLY CHARM, which was last of the five runners throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.6            Last Half: - 58.2               Margins: - Short ½ Head, 3m

Trial 2: - JILLIBY JAY SEA (Somebeachsomewhere – Perfect Take) settled three back on the markers, moved to the outside with 700m remaining and quickly dashed to the front in the back straight. He was able to sustain the run and got the prize. ROCKELLA (Rock N Roll Heaven – Acella) settled down last and tried to follow JILLIBY JAY SEA forward in the final circuit. He was left without cover in the final 600m but he fought hard in the straight and was still closing at the end. JILLIBY PEACH (Sportswriter – Jilliby Rhianna) led out, took a trail with 600m remaining and came to the outside on the home turn. She wasn’t far away in third position and appeared to have something left in the locker. KEAYANG OMAR (Sir Lincoln (Lincoln Royal) – Dianne Valerie 2.5.4, $6,990) settled three back on the markers and waited for the sprint lane. He was last of the four runners across the line but he wasn’t beaten by far.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.4            Last Half: - 58.3               Margins: - 2m, 2m

Trial 3: - ALDEBARAN KIRI settled down last of the six runners and moved forward one position further when ENLIGHTENED GIFT galloped with 1500m remaining. She moved into the one out and one back trail at the 600m mark and came out three horses wide on the turn before charging home to win impressively. LOTAMUSCLE settled three back on the markers and was poking through the middle in the latter stages to fill second spot. He makes his return to racing at Maryborough on Monday, where he appears to be one of the leading chances. KEAYANG IGNITE settled down in fifth position early, ended up being four back on the markers and moved up without cover with 600m remaining. He was able to get past the early leader MISS MAIA turning for home but couldn’t withstand the challengers of the horses that were running home out wide in the latter stages. MISS MAIA finished fourth after setting the speed and SUNNY PETITE was fifth after trailing the leader throughout. SUNNY PETITE backed up to win comfortably at Melton on Tuesday night so it was a strong trial. With the exception of MISS MAIA, all of the horses in the main group went to the line with plenty in reserve. SUNNY PETITE and MISS MAIA are also very good chances in their respective races at Maryborough on Monday afternoon. ENLIGHTENED GIFT lost her chance after galloping and losing approximately 50m with just under a mile remaining.

Mile Rate: - 2.8.1            Last Half: - 59.5               Margins: - Head, 1m

Trial 4: - JILLIBY SYLVESTER was able to lead comfortably in the field of just two runners and was unchallenged from start to finish but he was able to record handy time. ROLLOVA finished seven metres away at the finish but he appeared to have a tyre issue. ROLLOVA takes on Bernie Winkle at Mildura this afternoon and faces a tough task considering he is drawn on the outside of the second row.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.8            Last Half: - 57.3               Margin: - 7m

MILDURA 05/09/21

Trial 1: - WINNEDOU continues to impress at the trials and was able to lead throughout to score very easily. He wanted to race fiercely throughout but he was never extended at any stage. He made a mistake at his debut and might not have handled the wet track as his trial form suggests he is capable of winning races. RONZEL MICKEY (Sportswriter – Ronzel Gem 1.57.9, $35,795) has also been performing nicely at the trials and was able to finish second after trailing the leader throughout. AUCKLAND LASS was three back on the markers throughout and finished third. She is awkwardly drawn on the second row for her performance at Mildura this afternoon. GOLDEN SCRIBE gained a one out and one back trail but was inconvenienced by the tiring INDIANAS WISH and lost approximately 15m in the back straight on the final occasion. He came out three horses wide at the 500m and finished a distant fourth ahead of PRINGA CUP, which was last on the markers throughout and INDIANAS WISH yielded ground over the latter stages after enduring a tough run on the outside of the leader.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.3            Last Half: - 60.6               Margins: - 7m, 3m

Trial 2: - RHYFLECTIVE began quickly and pushed forward to find the lead with 1400m remaining. He shifted out under pressure and paced a little roughly in the home straight but he was able to get the job done to win the trial by about a half of a length. He is drawn on the second line for his return to racing at Mildura this afternoon. KENSINGTON MAID prepared for her first up run at Mildura this afternoon with a second placed effort. She led and held out RHYFLECTIVE early before taking the trail. She obtained an inside run in the home straight and worked through nicely for second position. KATE KANARDLY broke stride in the score up and settled down in last position. She gained the one out and one back trail at the bell and came out three horses wide with 300m remaining so it was a tidy effort to finish in third spot. PUMPT was four back on the markers and gained a run through the middle late. He finished fourth with MEXICAN STANDOFF being the last one home after settling three back on the inside and moving into the death seat at the bell. Any of the five runners could have won with 100m remaining with the field being lined across the track but RHYFLECTIVE was able to fend them all off.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.0            Last Half: - 60.2               Margins: - 1.5m, 1.5m

Trial 3: - LORNE BEACH drew on the pole position and held out SMYNANNA MICKEY for the first 100m before taking cover. SMYNANNA MICKEY ran along at an even tempo but couldn’t withstand the challenge of LORNE BEACH, which came to the outside with 300m remaining and impressed at the end, rolling away to win comfortably.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.0            Last Half: - 58.1               Margin: - 5m

MARYBOROUGH 05/09/21

Trial 1: - DELIGHTFUL MIA showed her usual early brilliance to run to the lead shortly after the start. She set up a slow tempo and finished off in a slick final 800m of 56.6 seconds to cling on and get the prize. ZADAKA settled last of the three runners and waited for the sprint lane in the straight. He accelerated nicely at the end and missed out by a narrow margin. FLYING SCRIBE trailed the leader and came to the outside approaching the home turn. He enjoyed every chance but he met handy opposition and it was a good hit-out for his effort at Echuca on Thursday night, where he finished a close third behind Treacherous Saint.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.6            Last Half: - 56.6               Margins: - Head, 2m

Trial 2: - DEFENSIVE GUY settled last of the four runners before making a move approaching the bell lap. He gained the one out and one back trail as RED RUSTLER came away from the inside at the bell then was forced to chase down that trotter in the final 600m. He hit the lead in the home straight and started to forge away at the end to win nicely. RED RUSTLER trailed the leader, made his move at the bell and shot to the lead at the 600m mark. He performed below expectations when resuming but he did much better in the trial and he can show improvement at Kilmore on Tuesday. COUNTESS CHIRON set the speed but was overtaken with 600m remaining. She finished a distant third as a lead up to her effort at Maryborough on Monday with LA BELLA FIGURA (3 back markers) being the last one home after commencing to yield ground with a lap remaining.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.8            Last Half: - 60.3               Margins: - 3m, 40m

Trial 3: - COBALT STRIDE (Captaintreacherous – Eye Catching 1.56.8, $38,730) began quickly from barrier two and was able to find the lead shortly after the start. He set up a slow tempo before sprinting home well enough at the end to hang on and get the prize. GOT EQUITY was a game run and put in the best performance of the trial. He was without cover early, eased back to last, moved into the death seat again at the bell and sustained a long run to miss out by a narrow margin. He did want to hang in at various occasions but it was a very strong effort. ALWAYS SKYE HIGH (Always B Miki – Misty Forever) finished in third position after trailing the leader throughout. NERO STRIDE (Bettors Delight – Death And Taxes 1.58.1, $125,300) was behind GOT EQUITY early, ended up being fifth on the markers and followed behind GOT EQUITY in the one out and one back trail for the final circuit. He finished in fourth position ahead of MIKISPUR (Always B Miki – Onedin Spur), which was three back on the markers throughout and SWEET EMMYLOU (4 back markers) was the last horse to greet the judge.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.2            Last Half: - 57.5               Margins: - Head, 6m

Trial 4: - XIAOBO (Angus Hall – Spirit of Smooch) continued his good trial form with a victory in the fourth trial. He trailed the leader in the early stages, moved to the outside at the bell and extended nicely when allowed to stride in the final 150m. MAJOR MAX broke stride at the start and was last early, He moved around to be in third position on the markers with a mile remaining and found the one out and one back trail at the bell. He battled on well in the straight for second. MAJESTIC EM (Majestic Son – Heart of Glass) also made an error at the start and was in fourth position. She moved around BUCKLES with 1200m remaining and ended up trailing the leader when both XIAOBO and MAJOR MAX made their moves. She was third ahead of the early leader ELLEN RUVAL with BUCKLES (Sebastian K – Salls) doing everything right but dropping off the pack in the final circuit. ELLEN RUVAL is backing up at Maryborough on Monday.

Last Mile: - 2.5.4             Last Half: - 60.3               Margins: 8m, 2m

Trial 5: - JILLIBY DINGO began fast and was able to find the lead shortly after the start. He backed off the tempo mid-race but was able to dash home his last 800m in a slick 56.6 seconds to win the trial narrowly. It was a good performance and it will give him a lot of confidence leading into his effort at Wedderburn on Sunday, where he is a strong winning chance. PETREA BROMAC was able to angle in behind JILLIBY DINGO shortly after the start. She came to the outside in the home straight and loomed up to win but couldn’t get past JILLIBY DINGO at the end. NOTSOKOOL settled in second last position early and moved through to be three back on the markers with 600m remaining. He continued to use inside runs and was able to work through into third position. PETREA BROMAC and NOTSOKOOL are competing in the same race at Maryborough on Monday and both horses performed well enough in the trial to suggest they are winning hopes in that event. AMPHIJET settled four back on the markers and moved into the running lane in the final circuit (1-2). She was able to pick up SUMMERHILL, which moved to the death seat from last at the bell with JILLIBY GYPSY (3 back markers, 1-1 at bell) being the last one to cross the line.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.5            Last Half: - 56.6               Margins: - 1m, 3m

Trial 6: - FIGHTNFURY began quickly and was able to work to the front with two laps remaining. He ran along at a reasonable speed and was able to win quite comfortably at the end. He is meeting a very strong field but is ideally drawn at Maryborough on Monday afternoon. KARMA QUEEN (Shadow Play – Inaugural Ball 1.58.1, $29,228) trailed the leader, came to the outside with 300m remaining and battled on well over the latter stages. She was untouched going to the line so she does appear to have some ability. PETREOS settled three back on the markers, trailed the leader on the home turn and had his chance via the sprint lane. The time was fast however and he has the ability to improve on his numerical form at Wedderburn on Sunday. THE TOOTH FAIRY was last of the four runners throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.2            Last Half: - 57.5               Margins: - 2m, Head

Trial 7: - IM ARTS BETTORSECRET trailed the leader and moved to the outside with 600m remaining. He was able to dash home in slick final sectionals to get the prize. The final placings listed on the website may not be accurate with OUR ESCAPADE being placed second ahead of SOLESSEO MATUCA and TEDDY RUNKLE but it appeared on the video replay as SOLESSEO MATUCA being just ahead of TEDDY RUNKLE with OUR ESCAPADE in last position. SOLESSEO MATUCA settled down last of the four runners, moved into the one out and one back trail behind the winner and never really peeled to the outside at any stage, going to the line with plenty in reserve. It was a nice performance and he should give a bold showing at Geelong this evening. TEDDY RUNKLE is competing at Maryborough on Monday and he began quickly in the trial to set the speed while OUR ESCAPADE was three back on the markers before trailing the leader at the 500m mark and using the sprint lane in the home straight.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.2            Last Half: - 57.3               Margins: - 2m, Head

Trial 8: - DREAM OVER stepped away well from his handicap and was able to trail the leader in the first circuit. He moved to the outside with 800m remaining, hit the lead on the home turn and remained strong at the finish to win by two metres. SURPRISE TO ME was slow but safe to begin and settled down last of the four runners. He moved through to trail the leader in the back straight on the final occasion and finished off well for second position. BACARDI PARDY (Bacardi Lindy – Eureka Encounter 2.1.4, $49,858) was three back on the markers and moved into the one out and one back trail behind DREAM OVER before coming out three horses wide on the home turn. He finished third with the early leader TROTTENEM HOT STUFF (Lucky Chucky – Racewaycalder 2.1.5, $36,663) being last of the four horses to complete the course.

Mile Rate: - 2.11.9          Last Half: - 60.8               Margins: - 2m, 2m

Trial 9: - WELL DEFINED stepped away quickly from his handicap and moved into second position behind the leader. He came to the outside with 800m remaining, quickly dashed to the lead and was able to keep going in the run to the post to win by about a length. He is competing in the Australasian Trotting Championship at Bendigo on Saturday night so he is facing a very strong field. VARIANCE was the only horse to start off the front row and was able to lead comfortably. He was overtaken by WELL DEFINED in the back straight but he came again at the finish and did a good job to finish as close as he did. BLUE COMAN was steadily away from the standing start and was approximately 30m behind in the early stages. He was able to tack onto the group with 1100m remaining but remained in last position for the rest of the journey. He will be better suited from the mobile start at Maryborough on Monday afternoon.

TABCORP PARK, MELTON 06/09/21

Trial 1: - MERCENARY (Majestic Son – Imitating 2.9.1, $4,495) trailed the leader and moved to the outside with 400m remaining. He drew to the lead on the home turn then was able to hold off a bold bid from CHAMPAGNE CHARLEY to claim the first trial. He didn’t appear to be placed under full pressure down the straight and makes his debut at Kilmore on Tuesday night. CHAMPAGNE CHARLEY was a good effort in second position. He galloped away and lost approximately 20m, settled down in last position, moved into the one out and one back trail at the 500m mark and was four horses wide turning for home. He sprinted fast and missed out by a narrow margin. COURAGE STRIDE was without cover early and eased to be four back on the markers. He commenced his run with CHAMPAGNE CHARLEY in the latter stages and made ground but didn’t sprint as fast as the second placed horse in the run to the finish. REINE DE LA LUNE (Louey Louey Louey – Diedres Mission $4,996) finished in fourth spot after setting the speed and LUNITAS (Andover Hall – Solar Flash 2.1.0, $6,765) was the last one to cross the line after being three back on the markers throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.9.4            Last Half: - 60.6               Margins: - Head, 8m

Trial 2: - ANOTHERBIGMAN (Art Major – Aleppo Heiress 1.57.0, $18,213) began fast to find the lead and went very slowly through the middle section. He was able to dash home in fast final sectionals and scored comfortably at the end. He did race very greenly and lugged out in the initial stages of the home straight but he was able to knuckle down late and kicked clear to win. LIGHTNING DAN angled onto the markers to be four back on the first turn then moved up without cover at the bell. He loomed as a winning chance turning for home but lost momentum when ANOTHERBIGMAN raced greenly and ended up filling second place. LADY IN LINE (Betting Line – Decorated Lady 1.58.7, $28,503) was a little fierce in the early stages but was able to begin quickly and trailed the leader. She used the sprint lane and finished in third position. It was a handy enough effort leading up to her debut performance at Kilmore on Tuesday night. ANDREW (Always B Miki – Drewsam 2.2.7, $6,875) was three back on the markers and moved to the outside on the home turn, battling away into fourth position. SYDLUVSDABEACHES (Sunshine Beach – Rocky Bay Lass) was six back on the markers, moved into the running lane (1-2) and made ground for a handy fifth. SECRET WISH (He’s Watching – Art Critic 1.56.1, $54,783) was five back on the markers, moved onto the back of LIGHTNING DAN at the bell and couldn’t hold onto that position in the run to the finish. He finished ahead of GENERAL LINCOLN (Sir Lincoln (Lincoln Royal) – Miss Sweethart), which was last of the seven runners throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.3            Last Half: - 56.31             Margins: - 4m, Neck

Trial 3: - ALPHA MALE was a brilliant winner of the third trial. He sweated up noticeably, raced extremely fiercely all of the way and established a lead of approximately 60m at one stage of the event. He was getting tired over the latter stages but he was entitled to and it seems he is in for a big campaign. HATCHBACK settled four back on the markers and came to the outside with 300m remaining. He finished fast over the latter stages and finished an eye-catching second in what should be a good form event. OFORTUNA was three back on the markers and was the first horse to make a move at the quarter pole. She finished third ahead of LEAF STRIDE, which was four back on the markers throughout. OFORTUNA should perform well at Maryborough on Monday afternoon. SKY EAGLE settled down in last position and was able to pick up SANGREAL, which trailed the runaway leader and got tired of chasing with 500m remaining.

Trial 4: - Only two horses contested the fourth trial on the program with MACH DAN outclassing his stable mate FOURBIGMEN in the run to the finish. FOURBIGMEN set up the speed but MACH DAN made his move with 300m remaining and was able to win drawing away in the run to the finish.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.2            Last Half: - 55.31             Margin: - 5m

Trial 5: - MAGIC STORM began well to trail the leader and ended up being three back on the markers when he allowed SAMMYS OUR GIRL to angle in for cover. He moved away from the markers with 500m remaining and drew to the lead in the straight to win softly. SAMMYS OUR GIRL finished in second position after being without cover early. She found the back of the leader with a mile remaining and hung in a little when trying to move to the outside in the home straight but hit the line strongly once she gained a clear passage. NONE GRATER was in the one out and one back trail early, dropped to be four back on the markers mid-race and came to the outside in the straight. He made ground to finish third in front of the early leader MIYAGI BOY. WAVE OF DEFIANCE was four then five back on the markers and beat home PIPPO NIEN, which broke stride at the start and lost approximately 15m early and settling in last position. MAMBA (Rock N Roll Heaven – Mesmerizing 1.57.9, $179,221) settled six back on the markers and was the last one to complete the course. Both the winner MAGIC STORM and the second placed SAMMYS OUR GIRL are competing at Kilmore on Tuesday night.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.3            Last Half: - 58.94             Margins: - 2m, 4m

Trial 6: - ABOUTTIME began quickly and was able to slide to the lead shortly after the start. He eased the tempo mid-race then dazzled home his last half in 55.4 seconds to win easily and seemingly with plenty in reserve. MAJOR MEISTER was without cover momentarily at the start and angled onto the markers to be in third position. He came to the outside with 300m remaining and was able to snare second on the line. BALENCIAGO began quickly and took the trail behind ABOUTTIME. He tried hard in the straight and finished in third position. He is poorly drawn at Geelong this evening but he is taking on easier opposition compared to his rivals in the trial. PAYMENT PLAN settled six back on the inside, moved into the one out and one back trail with 400m remaining and came out three horses wide on the home turn. She ran into a distant fourth with WHERES SEGGY being in fifth after settling seventh on the markers and coming to the outside in the home straight. SMITHSTARS LEXUS was five back on the markers and tried to make his move from the quarter pole. He finished ahead of JOE NIEN, which was last early and followed inside runs with RADICAL MAJOR (4 back markers) being the last one to complete the course.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.5          Last Half: - 55.40             Margins: - 8m, Head

Trial 7: - The former New Zealander DON’T LIE TO ME began well and trailed the leader early before circling into the leading roll with 1800m remaining. She set up a slow tempo and was able to dash home in fast final sectionals to win over TREACHERY, which was a brave effort in second. She settled last of the five runners, came to the outside with 700m remaining and chased hard in the fastest part of the race. SPORTS WRACK led out then took a trail and finished in third position. DREAMERS DELIGHT was three back on the markers throughout and finished in third with SPORTS CHRONICLE being the last one to the line after being in fourth for the majority of the trial and momentarily coming off the markers to try and follow behind TREACHERY. DON’T LIE TO ME is very awkwardly drawn at Maryborough on Monday but must be considered as a big winning chance on her trial display.

Trial 1: - BUSLIN BRODY stepped away slowly but safely from the standing start and settled last of the four runners. He was the first to make a move but quickly gained a one out and one back trail with 800m remaining and finished off best to claim the opening event. BUDDY HINSON (Majestic Son – Dottie Hinson 2.3.5, $48,295) trailed the leader in the early stages, moved to the outside to race without cover in the last lap and hit the lead on the turn but couldn’t repel the challenge of BUSLIN BRODY in the latter stages. He boxed on well for second and will make his debut at Wedderburn on Sunday. LEOTARDANDLACE was three back on the inside and moved through to trail the leader at the half mile marker. She finished second with the early leader JOHNYBGOOD (Bacardi Lindy – Prinkipessa 2.6.1, $21,850) being the last horse across the line.

Mile Rate: - 2.12.4          Last Half: - 60.5               Margins: - 2m, 5m

Trial 2: - PARISIAN ARTISTE began quickly and was able to slide to the front shortly after the starter said go. He jogged along in the leading role and raced away to win by a huge margin and without being fully extended so it was an impressive display. LADY LIL trailed the leader throughout and was able to hold down second position. SAN ANTONIA ROSE began quickly but broke stride 50m after the start. Trial 1: - CAPTAIN COACH began quickly and found the lead shortly after the start. He set up a slow tempo and had a good kick left in the run to the finish to win softly. He finished ahead of ROLL THE ACES (Rock N Roll Heaven – Sweet Aces 1.58.9, $50,645), which appeared to have every chance behind the leader.

He needed a few reminders on the home turn when the field closed in but he found sufficient and was able to get the prize. He hasn’t been at his best form at the trials but he may have been a little lazy in the front running role in that particular trial victory. MOMENTSLIKETHESE ran a great race for second. She settled last of the five runners, moved into the one out and one back trail with 300m remaining and flew home out wide late to go down by a narrow margin. JUST BELIEVE trailed the leader early then ended up being three back on the markers. He finished off nicely and like the winner BUILDER BOB, had something in reserve at the end. RYMES began quickly and was able to find the lead with 1700m remaining. He broke stride when placed under pressure from the challenge of BUILDER BOB at the quarter pole and lost his winning chance. She went to the line jogging and could have finished much closer. LASTING BOND began quickly to lead, held out a brief challenge from OCCIANO in the early stages then was overtaken by MISS TYLER with 700m remaining. He held down third position in front of OCCIANO (Alta Christiano – Solar Operative 2.0.0, $20,146), which didn’t run a bad race after being stranded without cover early then angling onto the markers to be three back. MAJOR MAL dropped back to last, pulled hard and was able to run past SUMMER PANTS (5 back markers) in the run to the finish. SUMMER PANTS may have finished last but she is taking on much easier opposition at Kilmore on Tuesday and it wouldn’t surprise if she performed well.
