Trial 1: – IT’S A RAPT (Majestic Son – Rapt In A Rainbow 2.4.0, $24,650), KRAZE (Crazed – Karamboo 2.3.1, $78,197) and VINDICATING (Tennotrump – Majestic Maori 2.3.2, $45,075) were the only three trotters to do everything right and they finished in the top three. IT’S A RAPT led and set up a slow speed before kicking clear on the turn.  KRAZE settled four back on the inside and hit the line strongly.  VINDICATING was behind KRAZE and also finished off well. DURANTEE (Majestic Son – Nirvana Castle) finished fourth after being slow in the score up.  He galloped in the back straight on the first occasion.  NICKYS SON (Imperial Count – Nicky Eileen 2.0.0, $125,549) trailed the leader and was trotting roughly for the majority of the trip before galloping at the 300m. MOTORING HALL was slow to begin, picked up a lot of ground to race without cover then galloped in the back straight on the final occasion. ITS GAZADANGERWOOD (Bad Boy Truscott – Justcallmespecial 2.3.6, $18,075) settled three back on the markers and galloped on the home turn. Mile Rate: – 2.0.7             Final Half: – 59.8               Margins: 8m, 1m

Trial 3: – WAYONBYE was the only C0 class horse in the trial and he beat the proven winners including a C6 pacer with authority. He settled four back on the inside before moving into the breeze at the 1600m. He raced a little keenly in that position but cleared away to win untouched. SOME CHANGE settled sixth (1-2) and came to the outside on the home turn. He finished off very quickly for an eye-catching second. LORNE BEACH came out of the gate quickly to find the markers, took cover under hard restraint and used the sprint lane for third. STRAWBERRY COURAGE used some energy in the early stages to find the lead and that effort took a toll at the finish. He finished fourth in front of THE FORTUNATE SON, which had his chance (3 markers, 1-1) and DAYSEEDEE followed the markers throughout in sixth position. GRAPHICS was without cover early before gaining a one out and one back trail but dropped out from the 800m.

STARLIGHT RED held on for second in front of the late closing MAJESTIC TIME, which settled four back on the markers. The 2yo trotter MILLYS MAGIC settled three back on the markers and did a good job to finish as close as she did. DARK SECRET stepped away well but galloped shortly after the start. He lost 15m and settled last but he did gallop again when making ground with 150m remaining.

Mile Rate: – 2.9.9             Final Half: – 60.9               Margins: – 4m, 4m

Trial 5: – STARRY MACH trailed the leader AMERICAN SWEETHART (American Ideal – Crystal Reign 2.3.3, $33,714) and used the sprint lane in the latter stages to snare victory. NOMORELYING (Life Sign – Total Truth 2.0.2, $10,525) settled sixth on the outside and came out three horses wide at the 800m. Trial 6: – COMMON PEOPLE (Mach Three – The Oval Office 1.59.9, $9,908) settled four back on the inside but wanted to race fiercely so made a move from the 1600m mark.  He found the lead shortly afterwards and was able to keep going to win the trial by a little over a length margin. WALKAMILEINMYSHOES led out before taking cover and was able to hold down second in front of MADDIELEA (Auckland Reactor – Allison June), which finished nicely from four back on the markers. HOT BLOODED WOMAN raced three back on the markers from the 1400m and finished fourth. GOLDEN SAND (Somebeachsomewhere – Fususi 1.59.2, $180,305) is a nicely bred gelding that finished a distant fifth but he was never asked for an effort at any stage. BACKINBLACK settled last before trying to move up without cover from the 800m but he didn’t make up much ground and ended up finishing at the rear of the field.

Mile Rate: – 2.5.5             Final Half: – 58.9               Margins: – 4m, 1m

CRANBOURNE 25/05/19

Trial 1: – SUNDANCER RAINBOW settled three back on the inside and gained a lovely passage along the sprint lane to accelerate through and win the trial from KRAFTY BART, which settled last of the five runners before pushing forward to race without cover with 800m remaining. CUZIN LYNDAL (Courage Under Fire – Aunty Daph) tried to lead throughout but had to be content with third position.  ICANMOTOR (Somebeachsomewhere – Blue Seelster 1.56.2, $54,905) was four back on the inside throughout and defeated his stable mate ACCESS DECLINED (Art Major – Gone Walkabout), which trailed the leader and attempted to make ground by coming away from the markers at the quarter pole.

Mile Rate: – 2.5.0             Final Half: – 61.3               Margins: – ½ head, Neck

DEFT TOUCH settled four back on the markers and followed ARGGGHHH after he swept passed in the back straight. NIGHTMARES (Roll With Joe – Dream Allulike) finished fourth after being three back on the markers throughout while LADY MAJESTIC was fifth after trailing the leader. He went forward early and was very wide on the first corner before angling onto the markers (3 back). He raced keenly throughout and sustained a strong run from the 500m mark. MONTENERO settled last of the five runners and was able to pick up IMA BLUE BOY (trailed leader) and NEVADA JANE (4 back markers) in the latter stages.

Mile Rate: – 2.4.2             Final Half: – 58.8               Margins: – Neck, 12m

BACCHUS MARSH

Trial 1: – AMUNET (Majestic Son – Melpark Sunrise 1.59.0, $121,390) is a nicely bred trotter, which is showing ability at the trials. She recorded a slow mile rate but won by a large margin. WILCANNIA (Andover Hall – Wheels To Go) finished second in front of SHEZA CHOCOLATIER (Art Major – Highview Ember 1.53.3, $122,798), which comes from a good pacing breed but obviously likes to trot.

Mile Rate: – 2.11.3           Final Half: – 65.2               Margins: – 12m, 15m

Trial 5: – BE NOT AFRAID was a winner in a fast mile rate of 1.56.6 back in March and she recorded a handy time in winning the open class trial by a good margin. IMA SASSY GIRL finished second and was obviously a good effort as she is a C1 assessed pacer and defeated DELIGHTFUL SYSTEM (C4) to the line. SUMO GRIN finished last of the four.

Mile Rate: – 2.2.2             Final Half: – 59.8               Margins: – 8m, 2m

MILDURA 26/05/19

Trial 1: – The opening trial was marred by a fall on the first corner where NO EMOTION (Grinfromeartoear – Sokysokylala 2.3.6, $1,859) travelled awkwardly and galloped interfering with TALE OF THE DRAGON, which in turn contacted TANGAROA and that horse came to grief. He was quickly up onto his feet and the track was cleared so the trial proceeded on. CARAGGIO ESCAPEE led from the pole position with ELPINE SALLY (Auckland Reactor – Grace Anatomy) trailing from the inside of the second line. That pair were able to establish a large gap on the others when the trouble occurred. MALLEE JET (Dawn Ofa New Day – Forget The Frills 2.3.8, $6,060) and TALE OF THE DRAGON were third and fourth with NO EMOTION virtually tailed off. CARAGGIO ESCAPEE set up a slow tempo and had a good kick at the finish, easily holding ELPINE SALLY at bay. TALE OF THE DRAGON was third in front of MALLEE JET and NO EMOTION.

Mile Rate: – 2.6.5             Final Half: – 59.9               Margins: – 4m, 25m

He produced a big finish to pick up WE WILL SOUND with MAJOR MAGUIRE in third. GOLDEN SCRIBE finished third after settling last of the six, moving away from the markers to make steady ground, and finding the one out and one back trail at the 700m mark. THEMONEYPIT came from five back on the markers to finish fourth in front of DASHING JULIUS (4 back markers) and MISTER PARMESAN (3 back markers, behind leader).

Mile Rate: – 2.8.1             Final Half: – 60.7               Margins: – 1m, 8m

He made a move coming out of the back straight and battled on well for third in front of COME ON ELVIS. Trial 4: – TRACER BULLET was 15m behind the gate at the start and settled a clear last. He was still at the rear of the field with 400m remaining but he produced a big finish to win effortlessly. There was nothing startling about the mile rate or the sectional times but he was impressive. HOME JULIE showed good gate speed to lead and finished second in front of MAJOR BANKS (Major Bronski – Bed And Banks 2.3.2, $2,250), which trailed her throughout. ERNIESON (Ernie Eldorado – Life of Chiquita) settled four back on the markers behind THE GREEN FAIRY and was able to work into fourth position late.

SMILES trailed the leader throughout and finished second in front of CAMNAT (Heston Blue Chip – Catapult), which picked up a lot of ground in the final 600m.  INDIGO DANCER (A Rocknroll Dance – Tauto Jane 1.57.4, $27,018) enjoyed a good run on the markers throughout and was able to get passed AMMICCHI (3 back markers) to fill fourth position.

FREMARKSROOSTER settled last of the five runners after starting from the handicap of 20m. SOHO LEDGER made a move at the 1200m and pushed into the lead coming up to the bell. FREMARKSROOSTER was the first to move away from the markers in the back straight on the final occasion but JERICHOS TRUMPET was able to get a run through between him and BROCKS BEST at the 500m mark. JERICHOS TRUMPET sprinted sharply and won with ease. SOHO LEDGER finished second in front of FREMARKSROOSTER and the juvenile WHOS COUNTN showed quite a bit of ability in fourth. BROCKS BEST ended up being last of the five.

Trial 2: – MAJESTUOSO galloped momentarily approximately 50m before the start and was a couple of lengths behind the gate when the green light went on. He settled down in third but came to the outside from the 500m and used his speed to overhaul the early leader BACARDI CARTA with SAXON ROSE finishing third after trailing her stable mate throughout. PHARISEE galloped just after the start and lost 30m. He was able to get back in touch with the group and was trailing up behind MAJESTUOSO before galloping again with 250m remaining.

Mile Rate: – 2.6.4             Final Half: – 60.14             Margins: – 1/2neck, 47m

Trial 3: – BIT OF A DREAM is a lightly raced mare that boasts a handy record and she impressed with her all of the way victory. She showed terrific gate speed to lead comfortably then proceeded to run along at a genuine tempo, winning by a large margin and seemingly with something in reserve. MACHAVELLI settled five back on the markers and made a move from the 600m mark. He sustained a good run to finish second in front of WHITEHAVEN LASS, which ran to the line reasonably well from fourth. FOREVER AND A DAY came from last of the seven runners to pick up fourth in front of IMPLODE (6 back markers). THE BOOST settled three back on the markers and came to the outside at the 400m mark but yielded ground, beating MY CAESARS DELIGHT (trailed leader) to the post.

Mile Rate: – 1.58.7           Final Half: – 58.84             Margins: – 14.5m, 6m

BLACKBOOKER: – Bit Of A Dream

Trial 4: – LADY ROCKNROLLA is a classy filly. She ran fifth in the New South Wales Oaks and contested a heat of the Victoria Oaks so she appeared to be well placed against the maiden 3yo pacers. She was three horses wide for the first 300m and eventually found the lead at the 1100m but she did win comfortably at the end. STARLIGHT SAFARI showed good gate speed to hold the lead and kept that position until LADY ROCKNROLLA edged passed her. She battled on well for second with AUCKLAND RED finishing third after being three back on the markers before moving up without cover from the 700m mark. MUDDY WOBBLES was last throughout but he did hold his own late in handy final sectionals.

Mile Rate: – 1.58.7           Final Half: _ 58.27            Margins: – 5.5m, 4m

Trial 5: – MUSZTANG (Art Major – Mesmerizing 1.57.9, $179,221) is a nicely bred pacer and should continue to improve with experience. He settled four back on the inside, moved up without cover at the 700m and hit the lead with 150m remaining. BELLA BRONSKI was an eye-catching trial performance. He eased back to be last of the seven runners and motored to the line out wide on the track to snare second. It is hard to win a juvenile race, particularly in a season with so many talented pacers but he did show a lot of potential. DOUGS CINO began very quickly to lead and held on for third at the finish. MONTEREI HEAVEN (Rock N Roll Heaven – Our Miss Daisy $2,420) settled three back on the markers and hit the line strongly via the sprint lane. BLUE CHIP DIAMOND (Heston Blue Chip – Beloka Diamond 2.0.1, $145,338) trailed the leader and finished fifth in front of MAJOR MAL (5 back markers) (Art Major – Mes Cullen 1.57.2, $37,843), which stayed on the markers and was never extended.  PUNT FOR PLEASURE (Art Major – Ymbro Wicked) started from the second line and finished last after being six back on the markers throughout.

Trial 6: – DON’T HOLD BACK hasn’t raced since beating Shadow Sax in the 2017 4yo Breeders Crown but his trial performance was brilliant! He dropped off at the start and stayed approximately 20m behind the second last horse before stoking up from the 800m, moving up without cover and testing the leader JOE NIEN. He bolted away in the straight to win very impressively. He is in a tough grade (C7/M2) but he should be competitive whenever he makes his comeback. MATCH POINT settled three back on the markers and ran into second ahead of FIRE UP FRANCO (trailed leader) and the early leader JOE NIEN failed to beat a runner to the line.

Mile Rate: – 1.56.2           Final Half: – 55.61             Margins: – 14.5m, 1/2head

BLACKBOOKER: – Don’t Hold Back

Trial 7: – SUMMERTIME is a dual winner this season and took out the Allied Express 2yo Classic before being placed in the Sapling Stakes so she is a classy filly. She trailed the leader LADY OLIVIA’S FOLLY and quickly zoomed to the front approaching the home turn, winning the trial comfortably. SWEET LOUISE (Sweet Lou – Artistic Dancer) settled four back on the inside and finished on well, seemingly with something in reserve as she had her ears pricked on the line. TERROR BULL GIRL (Western Terror – Educated Lady 1.56.2, $62,430) trailed SWEET LOUISE throughout and finished off just as well in the straight.  SHAKE BABY SHAKE (Roll With Joe – Shake it up Baby) settled last and picked up ground for fourth by using inside runs. LADY OLIVIAS FOLLY (BG’s Folly – Lady Anton) went very fast early and led by a good margin. She raced greenly throughout and eventually hung away from the markers before the home turn. BEACH HARMODY (Somebeachsomewhere – Christian Melody 1.56.2, $212,580) is a nicely bred pacer, which gained a lovely trail behind SUMMERTIME and appeared to be a winning chance on the home turn but struck trouble and galloped.

Trial 8: – SAMMY SHOWDOWN continues to impress this season and he performed very nicely again in the final trial. He showed good gate speed but took cover behind SHOWEMYOURMUSCLES shortly after the start. He peeled to the outside on the home turn and quickly put the result beyond doubt, looking very strong at the finish. QUICK ANDOVER followed SAMMY SHOWDOWN throughout and appeared to be travelling well on the turn. He couldn’t keep with the winner late but he wasn’t fully extended in the run to the post. LEANNE LEEANN (Danny Bouchea – Possum Point 2.7.0, $24,060) met a smart field for an unraced 3yo trotter and she finished off nicely for third after settling four back on the markers. SHOWEMYOURMUSCLES began brilliantly from out wide on the track and set up a genuine tempo before peaking at the finish. ANDOVER SUN and KAUDO (Bacardi Lindy – Poet Laureate 2.5.7, $44,598) both galloped at the start and the two juvenile trotters were tailed off throughout.

VINIANA (All Speed Hanover – Fijian Smile) finished at the tail of the field but she sat in the death seat throughout and she raced greenly in the final stages.

Mile Rate: – 2.7.1             Final Half: – 61.2               Margins: – 4m, 8m
