The Blackbook's not often the domain of known commodities but Craig Rail couldn't resist adding Wobelee to his Trial File select group after the trotter's extraordinary run against the pacer's in a 56-second final half.

Ahead of his return at Shepparton tonight be sure to watch Wobelee in the Kilmore replay below and scroll all the way to the bottom for Crail's prized Blacbook.

Here is this week's breakdown:

SHEPPARTON 11/06/20

Trial 1: - LITTLE DEMON (Modern Art – Davids Lady 1.56.2, $46,288) trailed the leader and was able to run home too well to get the prize. He raced greenly once he hit the front, otherwise he might have scored by further. JITTERBUG ARDEN (A Rocknroll Dance – Fantastic Arden 2.0.3, $13,975) was slow to move and settled three back on the inside. He moved up without cover from the 400m and boxed on well for second. BEARTASTIC WRITER (Sportswriter – Shadow Flag 1.55.3, $38,180) showed gate speed to lead but was run down over the latter stages and INDIGO RIVER (Caribbean Blaster – Athletic River) was last of the four runners throughout after being slowly away and missing the start by approximately 20m.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.4            Final Half: - 61.4               Margins: - 1m, 3m

Trial 2: - ALLSHOOKUP trailed the leader early then was shuffled back one position further, moved into the death seat at the 1600m and dashed clear at the 400m when a strong winner over the two Metropolitan assessed trotters in DYNAMIC LEGACY and CUSTODIAN. DYNAMIC LEGACY settled four back on the markers and finished off quickly out wide late while CUSTODIAN came from fifth on the inside. EVIES DRESSMAKER showed gate speed to lead, took a trail and pulled hard. She finished fourth in front of WANDANA DEBSPREAD (Alta Christiano – Georgia Cracker), which settled four back on the outside. MACH THE KNIFE made an unsuccessful bid for the lead early but was pulling hard and was able to slide to the front from the 1800m. He tired into sixth but beat home DENALI (Big Jim – Shez Madam Jasper) (1-1) and IVE GOT THE LOOKS (Union Guy – El Maggie 2.4.4, $6,800) (1-2)

Mile Rate: - 2.0.2            Final Half: - 60.3               Margins: - 15m, 5m

Trial 3: - GOLDEN SPURS trailed the leader and came away from the markers at the 600m. He always appeared to be travelling better than the leader MYNAMESGRAHAM and won with something in reserve. PICCALILLI (Majestic Son – Nicky Eileen 2.0.0, $125,549) broke at the start and was tailed off throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.13.7          Final Half: - 61.1               Margins: - 2m, Distanced

Trial 4: - OBI ONE is a smart former New South Wales pacer that boasts a good record but he is also in a very strong class now as he is a National Ratings 74 assessed pacer. He was the class runner of the trial and he certainly scored with authority. He showed gate speed but was left without cover, restrained to be last on the markers then moved up into the breeze again with 700m remaining. He zipped to the front turning out of the back straight and quickly put the issue beyond doubt. LOOKING FABULOUS was three back on the markers, moved off the inside at the 900m and quickly ran to the top at the 700m. She was no match for the winner but easily held down second position. ROTHKO was without cover early before progressing to the lead. He wanted to hang out when pressured and lost his leading role as the field entered the back straight on the final occasion. BENATAR was in front early but took cover and ended up being last on the markers in the final lap. She remained in last position thereafter.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.1            Final Half: - 56.8               Margins: - 10m, 8m

Trial 5: - AFTER THE CHASE (Mr Feelgood – Chasing Chelsea 1.58.9, $25,215) was very impressive. He did enjoy the perfect run behind the leader but he moved away from the markers on the home turn and showed a terrific burst of speed to draw away and win easily. JOYONYMOUS (Bitobliss – Missonymous) settled four back on the markers and came to the outside on the home turn. She finished off very quickly late. COOKS CANVAS (Artistic Fella – Invasion Day 2.2.5, $4,844) was five back on the markers before trying to sustain a long run from the 700m and holding his ground late for third position. GOODLOOKIN ROOSTER finished fourth after setting the speed with MY MATE COL (Rock N Roll Heaven – Nightn Georgia 2.0.4, $116,605) (3 back markers) running fifth. COURAGEOUS LIFE (Courage Under Fire – Spring To Life 2.2.4, $1,688) settled last on the markers before moving into the one out and one back trail at the 700m. She remained in a rearward position throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.7            Final Half: - 60.2               Margins: - 20m, 1m

BLACKBOOKER: - After The Chase

Trial 6: - LORD LOHKI showed very good gate speed to lead and never appeared to be in any danger of defeat. He dashed well clear over the latter stages to win by a large margin. PATCHWORK trailed the leader throughout and finished second in front of COUNT BACARDI, which put in an eye-catching performance. He was without cover early, settled fourth on the markers and wasn’t asked to do much but was still hitting the line hard late. ROSHAMBO settled three back on the markers and finished in fourth position with BAD AS NOW (4 back markers, without cover 300m) running fifth. GOLDEN SUNSET (Skyvalley – Golden Wahine 2.2.2, $26,156) was last on the markers throughout and saw the field of six to be safely home.

Mile Rate: - 2.6.7            Final Half: - 60.4               Margins: - 15m, 8m

KILMORE 12/06/20

Trial 1: - KYVALLEY FINN started off the handicap of 30m and settled last of the three runners. He moved up without cover from the 700m and was able to edge clear in the latter stages. He did seem to have something in reserve. HIGHWAY HUNTSMAN kicked on well after setting the speed and ROCKFORD PEACH trailed the leader throughout but dropped off in the latter stages.

Mile Rate: - 2.8.2            Final Half: - 59.6               Margins: - 2m, 15m

Trial 2: - ISLAND BLUE CHIP (Heston Blue Chip – Special Needs 2.0.5, $27,578) trailed the leader momentarily before circling into the lead on the first turn. He was joined by SHARMEY turning for home but he kicked on well at the finish. ISLAND FIRE DANCE (A Rocknroll Dance – Island Under Fire 1.59.3, $19,473) settled three back on the markers, moved through to trail the leader on the home turn and missed out narrowly at the end. SHARMEY (Rock N Roll Heaven – Glory Daze 1.55.7, $76,805) trailed the leader, came to the outside on the home turn and poked his nose in front before battling into third position. HELIKAON (Rock N Roll Heaven – Dazed And Confused 1.56.8, $172,444) settled last of the four runners, came to the outside in the straight and was doing his best work at the end. It is fair to say that not one of the four runners were fully extended down the home straight but the horse that ran last, HELIKAON was probably travelling he best on the line.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.5            Final Half: - 59.6               Margins: - Head, 2.5m

Trial 3: - GOOBER began quickly to lead and enjoyed a nice run throughout. He started to run along in the back straight on the final occasion and was able to bolt away to win by a large margin. YANKEE MAUREEN (Yankee Spider – Mountain Earl 2.8.1, $30,850) trailed the leader throughout and finished second. ALDEBARAN TAKARA (Trixton – Aldebaran Turnpike 1.59.6, $20,625) broke stride 150m after the start and lost approximately 60m. He finished third in front of KYVALLEY HACIENDA (Andover Hall – Kyvalley Lily), which galloped in the score up and lost approximately 80m.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.3            Final Half: - 60.4               Margins: - 60m, 12m

Trial 4: - IM JOE LOUIS began quickly and got 2m in front early but couldn’t cross to the lead. He then restrained and found the back of the leader before coming to the outside at the 300m and commencing his winning run. HAVE NO CHOICE settled last of the four runners and moved away from the inside on the home turn. He finished off nicely at the end and ran a game second. HEZA BRAXTON began quickly and held the lead in the early stages. He ran along at an even tempo and finished third ahead of POWER PASS, which settled three back on the markers and was under pressure 400m from home.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.6            Final Half: - 60.2               Margins: - 6m, 2.5m

Trial 5: - SLEEPEE showed gate speed and was without cover early before angling across to trail the leader. She moved away from the markers with 550m remaining then sprinted quickly and dashed away from her rivals to win by a large margin. AMOUR FRATERNELLE (Repeat Love – Mybrotherwasastar) settled three back on the inside and was out three horses wide on the home turn. She finished off nicely for a distant second ahead of BUSLIN BRODY (Red Samurai – Spinster Clare 2.2.3, $33,245), which broke at the start and lost 60m. He was able to catch up with the group and moved away from the inside at the 400m so under the circumstances, the trial effort was sound. The early leader KEEPING IT CLASSY dropped out to be last of the four runners.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.5            Final Half: - 61.5               Margins: - 30m, Nose

Trial 6: - RUESLAN (Courage Under Fire – Marfusha) trailed the leader, moved away from the markers at the 700m and quickly hit the front. He never looked like being beaten in the last lap and he drew away for an easy win. NOTTADOUBT (We Will See – Joelles Dream 1.59.9, $19,253) was three back on the markers and moved into the death seat at the quarter pole. He filled second position ahead of MONTY MAJOR (Art Major – Court Safely), which tried to lead throughout. MADAME TESS (Western Terror – Madame Lily 1.57.6, $140,824) raced roughly at the start losing 15m, settled fourth on the markers and wanted to hang out occasionally. She finished fourth ahead of PEPPERBERRY, which broke stride in the score up and missed the start by 60m.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.7            Final Half: - 60.5               Margins: - 12m, 15m

Trial 7: - REPEAT AFTER ME was third early, moved into the death seat at the 800m and was pulling hard but was able to work past the early leader STARLIGHT SAFARI to get the prize. WOBELEE put in a slashing trial performance to finish second. He settled down last of the four runners, moved away from the inside on the home turn and flew home late in a slick final half of 56.0 seconds. MADAME ANNIE trailed the leader, used the sprint lane and finished third while the early leader STARLIGHT SAFARI dropped out to be the last one to greet the judge.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.9            Final Half: - 56.0               Margins: - 2m, 4m

BLACKBOOKER: - Wobelee

BACCHUS MARSH 13/06/20

Trial 1: - SEBS CHOICE is a very smart juvenile, which went very nicely at the trials prior to a luckless first up second at Cranbourne then was put away. He won the opening trial by a large margin and recorded a quick final half of 57.9 seconds, which is an excellent run at Bacchus Marsh. EXCLUSIVE DANCER (Bettors Delight – Pole Dancer 1.56.4, $186,352) is nicely bred and finished second ahead of the Ken Tippet trained IM EUGENE (Artspeak – Premier Rose 1.54.6, $34,160). CARRING BUSH (Pet Rock – Signofmischief) and TIME SERVED (Four Starzzz Shark – Keepers Daughter 2.1.7, $35,338) finished fourth and fifth respectively while LEBOWSKI, which hasn’t started since April 2018, finished at the rear of the field.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.3            Final Half: - 57.9               Margins: - 30m, 4m

BLACKBOOKER: - Sebs Choice

Trial 2: - TZU NIEN has joined trainer Anthony Spiteri. He has been prepared by John Justice, Ross Sugars, Jess Tubbs, Andy Gath and Anne-Maree Conroy previously. He has a lot of ability but his manners have been an issue throughout his career. He won his trial over DARING ANGEL and FLOATING MOUNTAIN. YANKEE VELVET hasn’t started since January and filled fourth position with ALLANON being retired out of the trial.

Mile Rate: - 2.12.7          Final Half: - 64.0               Margins: - ½ head, 4m

Trial 3: - LETS GO BETTER carries a personal best time of 1.53.1 so he is a smart horse when racing at his peak form. He has been unplaced in several recent starts but he would have gained some confidence with his trial victory. TRENT FROM PUNCHY finished a narrow second and backed up several nights later to win at Ballarat. Another subsequent winner ZALTA (at Terang Thursday) finished third ahead of GOZO COURAGE, which is now with trainer Ashley Taylor. WARPIE finished ahead of the former New South Wales pacer CEE CEE NORMAN and BILLYNJED (Major Bronski – Essmeralda Lombo) failed to complete the course.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.3            Final Half: - 59.1               Margins: - Head, 8m

Trial 4: - DEADLY ERROR is a nicely bred filly, which won at Hobart on debut in March. She recorded slow time but got the job done and scored narrowly over SNAZOLA. The unraced pacers CALLHENIEN (American Ideal – Fulsome 1.56.3, $43,622) and DAWN OFA NEW DREAM (Dawn Ofa New Day – Real Dreamz) finished third and fourth respectively with the juvenile filly ROSIES RISING filling fifth spot. ULTIMATE EXCLUSIVE finished a distant last.

Mile Rate: - 2.6.6            Final Half: - 61.8               Margins: - Head, 15m

Trial 5: - SHADOWMAN hasn’t started since recording three wins in succession back in August 2019. He was able to defeat the unraced pacer UNETHICAL (Four Starzzz Shark – Notfitforsale) with BRONSKI MOMENT being in third position. THE BIG ENDOFTOWN hasn’t raced since making an error at Boort in March. He was runner up in the Silver Vase at Terang and he competed in the George Croxford Tribute last preparation so he has ability. He finished fourth ahead of MISS MAKO and MISTER GLEE. Mile Rate: - 2.5.3            Final Half: - 59.8               Margins: - 1m, 10m

Trial 6: - RISHI has been doing a bit wrong at his most recent performances but he is a strong staying type and is very classy when he puts it altogether. He probably wasn’t suited around the Bacchus Marsh circuit but he was still good enough to get the prize. MAJOR EXCLUSIVE was beaten narrowly in handy time with FRANCO filling third position. IMA DENNY TOO has performed well since coming from New Zealand and finished fourth in preparation for his effort at Melton on Saturday night. WILL I ROCKNROLL was fifth in front of MACH HU and SHADOW STYLE was last in a quality trial field.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.5            Final Half: - 59.0               Margins: - Head, 3m

ROSIES PRIDE has been unplaced in three 2yo trotting events to date and finished fourth ahead of TOUCH OF BRINBA (I’m Stately – Brinba 2.9.4, $10,045), which was retired out of the event.

Mile Rate: - 2.10.6          Final Half: - 63.2               Margins: - 2.5m, 15m

Trial 8: - MASAKE is a maiden from 18 starts and hasn’t raced since September but she was able to score from MEANDMYBIGMOUTH and VALLEY OF TERROR. SHELDON hasn’t started since February and is now with trainer Rob O’Connell. He finished fourth ahead of NELLIESLITTLEANGEL and CONFUSIONANDDELAY. LACHIE TITIAN (Four Starzzz Shark – Bonnie Titian 1.56.5, $89,974) was the only horse competing in the trial that hadn’t raced previously and he saw the field safely home.

Mile Rate: - 2.6.4            Final Half: - 62.4               Margins: - 4m, 6m

Trial 9: - JAHBELLA (Angus Hall – Noopy Dua 2.0.6, $66,349) was able to defeat TELEPHONE TILLY, which has been placed twice already this season, so it was obviously a handy performance. TOUCH OF BRINBA (I’m Stately – Brinba 2.9.4, $10,045) finished a large distance away in third position, beating home ALDEBARAN MAVERICK (Andover Hall – Maori Road) and ALPINE SHIRE (Armbro Invasion – Midnight Maori 2.10.4, $4,156).

Mile Rate: - 2.19.3          Final Half: - 64.2               Margins: - 2m, 30m

Mile Rate: - 2.18.7          Final Half: - 62.7               Margins: Head, Distanced

MARYBOROUGH 14/06/20

Trial 1: - ADELAIDE BAY was on his best behaviour and was able to lead throughout and get the prize. RAANI trailed the leader throughout and finished second with EDWIN BROMAC in third after settling down last of the trio and coming to the outside with 700m remaining.

Trial 2: - ANIMADO (Sunshine Beach – Dilinger Girl 1.57.9, $153,084) trailed the leader, was held up for a run at a vital stage and lost 10m approaching the home turn before switching back to the sprint lane and flying through to score. The slow last quarter of 31.6 probably exaggerated how quickly he was running home but he did do a nice job in the run to the finish. SHARKBITE ALTO (Shadyshark Hanover – Sugar Alto) settled last of the five runners, moved into the death seat at the 1200m and hit the front at the 300m. He battled on quite well in the straight to finish second. YAPPER (Tell All – Slap On A Hat 1.57.3, $46,178) was three back on the markers before moving into the one out and one back trail behind SHARKBITE ALTO. He finished third ahead of TAY TAY (Rock N Roll Heaven – Jets Girl 2.2.1, $3,580), which raced very greenly. She was slow out and raced in fourth, broke stride at the 1200m then again at the 800m, tacked on at the quarter pole and came out wide into the straight. She did show some ability but she is obviously still learning. MORE THAN A WOMAN rolled along at a genuine tempo but tired from the 300m and finished last of the five runners.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.4            Final Half: - 63.2               Margins: - 5m, short head

Trial 3: - DEALERS KNOCK showed good gate speed to lead, rolled along at an even tempo and was strong at the finish, beating the pacers comfortably. IT’S A BORG settled last of the four runners, moved up without cover from the 700m and finished determinedly for second. GOTONEBETTOR trailed DEALERS KNOCK throughout and appeared to have every chance in finishing third with JOLTED JOURNEY running in last of the four after being three back on the markers throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.4            Final Half: - 61.1               Margins: - 4m, 20m

Trial 4: - Only two runners contested the final trial with TIARA STRIDE (Amore Stride – Nitengale Stride USA) stepping to the front of DYNAMIC DIESEL and setting up a slow tempo. She had a good kick left at the finish and proved to be too good in the sprint to judge.

Mile Rate: - 2.13.9          Final Half: - 63.8               Margin: - 40m

BENDIGO 14/06/20

Trial 1: - FETCH IT trailed the leader and moved away from the markers on the home turn. He finished off well in the run to the judge and got up to win on the line. He was grabbed on the line and finished second in front of TRUMPIT LIL, which was last of the three runners throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.12.3          Final Half: - 61.0               Margins: - Head, 12m

Mile Rate: - 1.59.9          Final Half: - 59.4               Margins: - 5m, Head

Trial 3: - HEAVENLY BELLE led throughout to score easily. She always travelled nicely in the run and she never appeared to be in any danger of defeat. BEACH COMBER settled in last of the three runners, moved away from the inside at the 500m and was able to get into second position. MARY KATHLEEN (Auckland Reactor – Art Bubble) hung in badly at the start, trailed the leader and couldn’t finish the trial off, finishing in third position.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.8            Final Half: - 59.6               Margins: - 12m, 13m

Trial 4: - AJAY BREEZY ROSE dropped back to be fifth on the markers, moved up without cover from the bell and dashed to the front half way down the back straight when she scored easily from DANMAN, which progressed forward in the early stages to find the lead at the 1700m mark. EMIJAY was fourth on the markers early before finding the one out and one back trail. She finished third in front of CANYOUSEEWHATISEE (Art Major – Out of Sight USA), which led out then took a trail. He was taking on strong opposition as he is yet to make his debut and the winner of the trial AJAY BREEZY ROSE has already been successful five times. Mile Rate: - 2.2.3            Final Half: - 56.7               Margins: - 6m, 6m

Trial 5: - BELLA BRONSKI settled down last, moved away from the inside at the 1400m and found the front shortly afterwards when she dashed home in a final half of 58.0 seconds to win comfortably. Mile Rate: - 2.4.0            Final Half: - 62.4               Margin: - 60m

TERANG 15/06/20

Trial 1: - VICTREE HILL hasn’t raced since striking trouble at Melton in January. He showed a lot of ability in his two starts last preparation and he might be in for a good campaign considering he won his trial by a large margin. HOMONYM (Majestic Son – A Touch of Sun) did well considering she was the only unraced horse competing in the trial. She finished second ahead of ALLWATFUNJINGLES and TOUCHANDGO.

Mile Rate: - 2.11.5          Final Half: - 61.8               Margins: - 25m, 6m

BLACKBOOKER: - Victree Hill

Trial 2: - JILLIBY FERNANDO won by a large margin and finished off in fast final sectionals. He backed up at Ballarat a few nights later and finished third in a strong race so he appears to have a promising future. OCTOBER REIGN finished in second position and BOWLED GARY (Well Said – Cool Machrista 1.56.5, $72,458) came in last of the three runners.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.8            Final Half: - 58.2               Margins: - 35m, 50m

Trial 3: - ALDEBARAN TESS is a very smart maiden and was able to win her trial by a good margin. She backed up at Terang on Thursday when a big second behind Cover of Darkness so she is ready to win a race. ALDEBARAN ROCKY hasn’t raced since November but he has always shown some ability and he should be getting fitter after several recent trial performances. He finished second ahead of MAORI AMOUR, DOUBLE HELIX and the unraced 3yo trotter SIERRA KEA (Peak – Diamond Insitu).

Mile Rate: - 2.5.1            Final Half: - 60.1               Margins: - 15m, 1m

Mile Rate: - 2.4.4            Final Half: - 62.1               Margin: - 60m

Trial 6: - YANKEE GOLD proved too good for JILLIBY DINGO in fast time and was able to beat the same pacer at the races on Thursday night where he produced a powerful display. He is out of a half sister to the great Desperate Comment (1.55.7, $1,033,065) so he is certainly bred to be a tough campaigner. JILLIBY DINGO was outstayed by YANKEE GOLD on Thursday night but is showing enough ability to win a race at short notice. BUNDY PLAYBOY finished in third position ahead of SPORTY CULTURE and HOOK EYE JOH, which has had no luck recently. THE BIG SHOW finished in sixth position and BONZA GUY was tailed off.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.6          Final Half: - 61.3               Margins: - 1m, 1m

Trial 7: - KEAYANG SILVAGNI produced a memorable performance to win on debut where he galloped away and came from a tailed off position to score impressively.
