Tim Butt is one of the latest high-profile trainers to set up camp here in Victoria and Craig Rail has identified a horse that might be able to land his first winner since basing himself in this state.

Bettors Delight gelding Parama is one of four new additions to Rail's Blackbook after a strong trial performance at Tabcorp Park Melton on April 6.

He is joined as a new Blackbook entry by Commander Buzz (Hugh Cathels), Fugle (Wes Shellie) and Soho Dow Jones (Michael Stanley).

SHEPPARTON 01/04/21

Trial 1: - MAJOR DELICO began quickly from a wide draw and was able to angle in behind the leader EL BOSTON. He was always travelling nicely in the run and cruised through along the sprint lane to win without being fully extended. He attempted to lead throughout at Melton on Thursday night and was run down by I’m Not Outlaw on the line. EL BOSTON attempted to lead throughout and ran along at a rapid rate so he produced a gallant performance to finish second. He has drawn favourably at Shepparton this afternoon and should run a cheeky race. WAYONBYE was four back on the markers and moved into the death seat at the 1300m. He battled on well for third with WILLEM being in fourth position after moving away from the markers with 500m remaining. THE LONGEST DAY settled five back on the markers and dropped off the pace during the middle stages but picked up late and was making ground out wide on the track. LONESTAR LAD settled in second last position and was a long way from the leaders early. He was forced to sprint quickly coming up to the bell to find the one out and one back trail so under the circumstances, it was a good performance. He is meeting a much easier field at Shepparton this afternoon and should run a nice race. WENTHESTARZZZALINE settled three back on the markers and was yielding ground at the bell. It is not the first time she has dropped out at the trials and came out to perform well at the races so she should give her usual honest display at Shepparton this afternoon.

Mile Rate: - 1.58.9          Final Half: - 56.8              Margins: - 1m, 5m

Trial 2: - HEY KARLA (Majestic Son – Good Thanks 2.3.2, $67,188) continued her excellent trial form with an effortless victory. She led clearly, wasn’t totally switched on, particularly with looking at the many shadows across the track but kept her composure to win without being extended. MILLEE (Rock N Roll Heaven – Jovial Jurno Lombo 1.57.6) trailed the leader throughout and finished a distant second with JESSIES SON (Majestic Son – Sheza Chenille) being last of the three runners after being very slow in the score up and breaking stride with 500m remaining.

Mile Rate: - 2.7.8            Final Half: - 60.2              Margins: - 30m, Dist

Trial 3: - NO NEIGH PHILTRA (Sportswriter – Chloes Daughter) settled three back on the inside and moved into the death seat with 800m remaining. She sprinted quickly to join the leader in the back straight, eased up the tempo for a slight breather then kicked strongly when asked for the effort in the straight. HARTNETT (Pet Rock – Illawong Fantasia 1.55.5, $57,862) settled six back on the markers and moved into the one out and one back trail behind NO NEIGH PHILTRA. He came out three horses wide with 300m remaining and tried hard in the straight. NEVS DREAM (Sportswriter – Watch The Dream 1.56.6, $31,847) settled down in last position, moved into the running lane in the back straight (1-2), switched to the inner approaching the home turn and used the sprint lane to run into third position. SCULLY began quickly to lead from the outside of the front line and battled into fourth position ahead of ROLL WITH RON (Roll With Joe – Clevedon Betty 1.57.2, $22,470), which settled four back on the inside. SHARKTON (Heston Blue Chip – Shark Interest) was five back on the markers early, moved away from the inside in the back straight (1-3), raced roughly and came out four horses wide with 300m remaining before pacing roughly again on the turn. He beat home EYEKNOWTHEFACE (Sir Lincoln (Lincoln Royal) – Token Queen), which led out then took cover and raced greenly in the final circuit.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.4            Final Half: - 59.6              Margins: - 1m, Head

Trial 4: - CHRISKEN KIOSK began quickly to lead and copped plenty of pressure from YANKEE LOVER in the early stages but he wanted to race fiercely and kept the inside advantage. He ran along at an even tempo and despite racing keenly in the run, was able to hold his challengers safely at bay. DASH OF FLAIR settled three back on the inside and moved up without cover with 800m remaining. He tried hard but couldn’t run down CHRISKEN KIOSK over the latter stages. FUGLE (Majestic Son – A Bit Amiss) was a very nice run into third and he might not be a maiden for long. He settled three back on the inside, moved away from the markers approaching the home turn and finished quickly without being extended. Considering both CHRISKEN KIOSK and DASH OF FLAIR have won races previously, it was an encouraging performance. LOCKSLEY LOVER settled down in last position, came out three horses wide with 300m remaining and worked home reasonably well for fourth. YANKEE LOVER began quickly and had a decent crack for the lead in the first 500m. She was forced to race without cover before moving in to trail the leader with just under a mile remaining. She finished fifth ahead of IMA DESTROYER, which settled down fourth on the markers.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.7            Final Half: - 60.7              Margins: - 5m, 5m

BLACKBOOKER: - Fugle

Trial 5: - CRACKER JET was slow out from his handicap and settled approximately 50m behind the leader. He was able to tack on after a very slow early tempo and moved into the one out and one back trail approaching the home turn. He came to the outside with 150m remaining and jogged to the line to win effortlessly. ASK NO QUESTIONS (Skyvalley – Don’t Question This) trailed the leader and came to the outside with 300m remaining. He hit the lead in the straight but couldn’t repel the challenge of CRACKER JET. SPIDER DUNBAR stepped away best from the standing start and found the lead. He set up a slow tempo and was run down over the latter stages. TEDS SECRET (Crazed – Secret Message) galloped at the start and lost approximately 40m. He was able to catch up to the group with the slow early tempo and used the sprint lane from three back on the markers in the home straight. He broke stride with 150m remaining and lost his chance. SONNUMBERONE (Majestic Son – Onlyonewoman 2.2.6, $55,550) was slow out and missed the start badly. He was tailed off for the remainder of the trial.

Mile Rate: - 2.10.6          Final Half: - 62.2              Margins: - Head, 7m

Trial 6: - BIDE OUR TIME settled down in a rearward position and was still last on the home turn before producing a big finishing burst along the sprint lane to win easily at the end. GOODMORNING CHERYL began in second position, worked to the front on the first turn and held down second position. She is drawn to lead at Shepparton this afternoon and is not without a chance. SHADY JESS has joined trainer Mark Buckingham and performed well enough in her trial to suggest she is a winning hope at Shepparton this afternoon. She settled three back on the markers, moved to the outside on the home turn and finished in third without being fully extended. THE DUX wasn’t beaten by far in fourth position after settling four back on the inside and coming out wide into the front straight. JUNIOR WARFARE led out, took a trail and went to the line hard held and jogging behind GOODMORNING CHERYL. He would have won the trial had he moved to the outside in the straight and he backed up that performance with a victory at Echuca on Sunday. DESIRE TO LIVE finished sixth after racing in the one out and one back trail throughout behind MILLION DOLLAR ART, which was the last one home after doing the work in the run.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.6            Final Half: - 61.2              Margins: - 2m, 2m

Trial 7: - MAJOR ANGEL began quickly to lead, took a trail and worked around to find the lead again with a lap remaining. He shot well clear over the concluding stages and won by a good margin. It was a good hit-out in preparation for his first up effort in the Mildura Guineas tomorrow night. MY MATE COL ran a nice trial for second. He was behind the leader early, ended up being three back on the markers and moved into the death seat at the half mile marker. He was pacing roughly coming up to the last bend but finished off very nicely once he balanced up in the straight. He has a lot of ability but his gait issues held up his progress last preparation. He returns from a spell at Shepparton this afternoon. SHAKATIE pressed forward out wide on the track and found the lead before taking cover with a lap remaining. She finished third ahead of CRYSTAL FLAME (Courage Under Fire – Crystal Reign 2.3.3, $33,714), which settled in fifth and moved into the one out and one back trail in the back straight on the final occasion. ROCKWITH THEDEVIL was without cover early before easing back to last and TOMMY BLIGH (Highview Tommy – Sheila Blige 1.59.4, $49,144) was the last one to greet the judge after racing four back on the markers throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.6            Final Half: - 58.2              Margins: - 18m, 12m

Trial 8: - SECRET IDENTITY settled four back on the markers before moving up without cover at the 600m. He drew clear in the straight to win softly and that was after pulling hard throughout the middle stages of the event. JETS ART settled five back on the inside, moved into the one out and one back trail behind SECRET IDENTITY and tried hard in the straight for second. PIPPI trailed the leader ALITTLEBITOFFTAP, used the sprint lane and finished in third position. ALITTLEBITOFFTAP started to tire late after setting the speed and finished in fourth position. CRESCO GERONIMO was held up for a run at a vital stage from three back on the markers and should have finished a little closer. HAVELOCK (Major In Art – Blissfull Mood 1.59.2, $37,991) settled in last of the six runners and was on a loose rein for most of the trip. He was the last horse to cross the line.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.1            Final Half: - 59.1              Margins: - 4m, 1m

ARARAT 03/04/21

Trial 1: - BONDI LOCKDOWN hasn’t started since winning the Caduceus Classic at Group 1 level in January. He is a smart pacer and has obviously returned from his short break in style considering he recorded a mile rate of 1.56.9 on the Ararat circuit. The Wayne Ferguson trained stable mates GHANASUYA and GOTTAHAVEAHOBBIE finished second and third respectively. GOTTAHAVEHOBBIE still ran a terrific time even though he finished at the tail of the field and he might run a bit of a race at Maryborough on Monday. GHANASUYA is also racing at the Maryborough meeting next week.

Mile Rate: - 1.56.9          Final Half: - 56.6              Margins: - 8m, 5m

Trial 2: - ULTIMATE VINNIE won the Super Series Bronze event in his juvenile season and finished sixth behind Bondi Lockdown in the Caduceus Classic. He is a handy type and should have a prosperous campaign. FLAMING LUCKY did well to finish a close second behind ULTIMATE VINNIE in fast time and WANTED LADY, which hasn’t raced since a Tasmanian campaign in November, was last of the three horses to cross the line.

Mile Rate: - 1.58.9          Final Half: - 58.1              Margins: - Head, 20m

MARYBOROUGH 04/04/21

Trial 1: - GO DANCING began quickly and pushed forward to run to the lead on the first corner. He ran along at an even tempo and was too good over the concluding stages. KATIES WAY (BGs Folly – Rileys  Way) did a very good job to finish as close as she did. She settled five back on the inside, moved into the one out and one back trail at 800m mark and was out three horses wide before the home turn. TELL A TALL STORY dropped back to last and was finishing fast late for an eye-catching third. He showed very good gate speed but retired in the trial won by Runaway Celebrity so he showed enough for a National Ratings 48 assessed pacer to suggest he could win a race in the near future. ABITOFDELIGHT (Bitobliss – Karim Vale 2.1.4, $4,463) finished fourth after being three back on the markers. She beat home REFORMED, which settled four back on the inside, AN FELLA MOR (Major In Art – Mumsthaword Lombo 2.0.9, $17,758) (led out, took a trail) and INFERRNO (Courage Under Fire – Allfouru) was the last horse home after settling down in sixth position and moving up without cover at the half mile marker.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.0            Final Half: - 58.1              Margins: - 4m, 8m

Trial 2: - CARL MATTGREGOR settled down last and was six back on the markers before making a move out three horses wide at the half mile marker. He joined the leader with 500m remaining and continued his run down the straight to grind out a victory. ATEGO SHADES began quickly to lead and fought on very strongly when challenged in the final stages, going down narrowly on the line. OXS COURAGE began quickly and got in behind the leader. He raced keenly in the middle stages and held his ground in the run to the finish. MAJOR BANKS settled four back on the markers and moved into the death seat at the 800m, gaining some cover when CARL MATTGREGOR got across leaving the back straight. He finished fourth ahead of FINAL BOW (Bitobliss – Georgina Bow), which was fifth on the inside before gaining a one out and one back trail. TA FAILTE ROTE was last of the six runners to cross the line after racing three back on the inside throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.0            Final Half: - 57.8              Margins: - Head, 6m

Trial 3: - MURTAGH KAI (Down Under Muscles – Subitize 2.9.7, $6,106) was given plenty of time to balance up in the early stages and settled last of the three runners. He made his move in the final 500m and was able to cruise to victory without being pushed. The time wasn’t fast but he was moving nicely in the run to the finish. ALFIE ALWAYS (Yankee Spider – Ima Thrill Seeker 2.3.7, $64,161) trailed the leader MAJUCKTE (Majestic Son – Veruckte Phoenix 1.59.1, $35,908) and was left in front when MAJUCKTE broke stride with 600m remaining. He couldn’t repel the challenge of MURTAGH KAI but he did everything right and finished second. MAJUCKTE finished tailed off after making that error in the back straight.

Mile Rate: - 2.9.5            Final Half: - 64.0              Margins: - 15m, 100m

Trial 4: - HELLO I TEA began quickly and was able to spear to the lead. He backed off the tempo in the middle stages and appeared to be safely holding his rivals at bay but only just held on at the line. PUZZLE PIECE (Heston Blue Chip – Bring Her Back) settled three back on the inside and moved to the outside with 800m remaining. He was holding on nicely before gathering some momentum and making a lunge on the line. RACING TIME (Racing Hill – My Prima Bella) was four back on the inside and filled third position ahead of HURRIKANE DUSTY (Hurrikane Kingcole – Art For Art Sake 1.58.4, $40,735), which began well and trailed the leader throughout. CLASICALLY SMOOTH (Betterthancheddar – My Classical Bell) galloped in the score up and was tailed off for the duration.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.3            Final Half: - 60.0              Margins: - Nose, 6m

Trial 5: - RUNAWAY CELEBRITY (A Rocknroll Dance – Celebrity Ball 2.1.0, $23,729) settled down in midfield but pushed forward early and was able to angle in behind the leader. She came to the outside on the home turn and dashed away at the finish to win easily. She showed a lot of ability in that victory and is drawn on the pole position at Maryborough on Monday but she is meeting a very good field. WYATTFLYNN is racing at Mildura tonight and can win on his trial performance. He went very hard early with TELL A TALL STORY and the pair charged well clear of their rivals. TELL A TALL STORY broke a hopple and had to be retired from the trial, which left WYATTFLYNN approximately 30m ahead of the pack. After going so quickly early, he did a good job to finish in second position. LENNY TEE (Betterthancheddar – Our Pocket Princess) was fifth to settle down and came to the outside in the back straight. He picked up ground late and finished third ahead of KARMA QUEEN (Shadow Play – Inaugural Ball 1.58.1, $29,228), which settled six back on the markers. OUR LITTLE GODDESS was four back on the markers and left the inside to pursue in the back straight. She finished fifth with EDDY THE BEST (Julius Caesar – Contemporaryvision 2.1.4, $13,619) being the last horse to have completed the course after being three back on the markers for the majority of the trial.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.1            Final Half: - 57.8              Margins: - 10m, Neck

Trial 6: - TURTLE was in various positions in the run but was able to win the trial softly in the end. He was without cover early, three back on the markers, behind the leader, one out and one back then finally three horses wide on the home turn. He is terribly drawn at Maryborough on Monday but he is trialling well enough to run a bit of a race at odds. YES MAATE dropped back to last early and moved up without cover with 1700m remaining. He battled on strongly over the latter stages to finish in second. RIOTERRA set up the speed and was run down over the latter stages. He finished third ahead of SMART CHA CHA, which was in the one out and one back trail for the majority of the trial. BACARDI CHARDY trailed the leader early but galloped several times in running and finished at the tail of the field.

Mile Rate: - 2.8.1            Final Half: - 61.3              Margins: - 3m, 2m

Trial 7: - TRAVEL BUG began well from his handicap of 30m and pushed forward to find the lead at the 1700m mark. He travelled nicely in the lead and was able to run home in a handy final half of 58.4 seconds to win well. JERICHOS TRUMPET was three back on the markers before moving into the death seat at the bell. He fought on bravely in the straight and finished about a length behind the winner. Both TRAVEL BUG and JERICHOS TRUMPET are travelling up to Mildura for the Trotters Cup this evening and they both trialled nicely in preparation for that feature event. JESSICAS STORY led out, took a trail and ran a distant third but she is a maiden filly and was taking on Country Cup class horses. RAGNA THOR stood still at the start and was tailed off throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.8            Final Half: - 58.4              Margins: - 3m, 40m

KYABRAM 04/04/21

Trial 1: - SUMMERDAYS finished unplaced at Cobram at his debut but was able to win the opening event over TANGAROA, which was stood down to trial after being unplaced at Albury on March 02. MISSMETRO finished third across the line and beat home the trotters DIDN’T MIDGE, which is competing at Maryborough on Monday, and KYVALLEY COPYCAT.

Mile Rate: - 2.11.5          Final Half: - 62.7              Margins: - 10m, 12m

Trial 2: - EL BOSTON ran second behind Major Delico at a Shepparton trial just three days earlier and appeared to be very well placed in the trial. He defeated the qualifier NANANELLIE (Somebeachsomewhere – Aventura) with VILLANELLE being in third position. LETTUCEVENTILATE is racing at Maryborough on Monday and prepared for that event with a fourth placing. He finished ahead of STRAWBERRY COURAGE, which is competing at Shepparton this afternoon.

TABCORP PARK, MELTON 06/04/21

Trial 1: - KYVALLEY HELEN (Muscle Hill – Aldebaran Revenue) began quickly from the wide draw and was able to roll to the front shortly after the start. She set up a slow tempo and went to the line without being extended to win comfortably. KARAKA OF A TOOTH (Creatine – Karaka Tooth 2.5.2, $20,370) was the first to the markers before taking cover behind KYVALLEY HELEN. She was overtaken by ICEEYALOOKIN (Father Patrick – Joyces Choice 2.11.2, $4,215) on the home turn but was able to kick back for second position in the straight. ICEEYALOOKIN was three back on the inside before moving up without cover at the 600m. She finished in third spot and THE SHOWBAGSTER (Blitzthemcalder – Cinders) was last of the four runners throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.8.0            Final Half: - 61.64           Margins: - 5.5m, 6m

Trial 2: - AZELLIAS FAME (Betting Line – American Dreamer 1.59.9, $4,538) began quickly to lead and rolled along at a reasonable tempo. He worked home in handy final sectionals and never looked like being beaten at any stage. THE CID (Always B Miki – The Waratah 1.57.9, $40,861) settled three back on the markers and moved to the outside at the quarter pole. He kept on chipping away in the straight and finished second. ZEUS DAN (Captaintreacherous – Giveusachance 1.55.6, $74,704) was four back on the markers and came to the outside in the latter stages. He worked home nicely and showed enough potential to suggest he could have a promising future. He is out of a half sister to the champion pacer Sokyola. BETTOR ROLL ON (Bettors Delight – Rockaround Sue USA 1.51.0, $626,181) began well and trailed the leader. He finished fourth ahead of BILLY JACK (Major In Art – Jilliby Jamila 1.59.8, $52,947), which was last of the five runners throughout.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.9          Final Half: - 58.22           Margins: - 4.5m, Head

Trial 3: - IMA CHERISHED STRIDE began fast to lead clearly then took cover behind stable mate PATRIOT STRIDE on the first corner. She travelled beautifully throughout and dashed through along the sprint lane to grab victory on the line. PATRIOT STRIDE wasn’t extended at any stage and finished second with TIPSY TURVY finishing third after being three back on the markers throughout. BULLAPARK BENO settled down last but showed a nice sprint prior to the home turn and did well to pick up ground for fourth. ABUNDANCE settled in fifth position and beat home ALDEBARAN MAVERICK (4 back markers), which started yielding ground approaching the home turn.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.6            Final Half: - 60.1              Margins: - ½ Neck, 4.5m

Trial 4: - SOHO DOW JONES (American Ideal – Soho New York 1.57.2, $65,710) began quickly to lead and rolled along at a genuine tempo. He remained strong at the finish and scored by a little over a length. COMMANDER BUZZ (Betting Line – Star Chaser 2.1.1, $27,883) was a massive run in second position. He settled down last, gave the leaders a healthy start and made a long run from the 800m in a slick last 800m of 56.51 seconds to finish just five metres from the winner. Both the winner and the runner up appear to be very smart horses. PLAYING UP (Captaintreacherous – Our Petite Soeur 1.57.6, $73,930) finished in third position after trailing the leader throughout. NIKITA (Bettors Delight – My Double Dream) was three back on the markers and beat home GOODTIME SHADY (Shadyshark Hanover – Orion Star 1.55.4, $42,299) (4 back markers).

Mile Rate: - 1.57.7          Final Half: - 56.51           Margins: - 5m, 2.5m

BLACKBOOKERS: - Soho Dow Jones, Commander Buzz

Trial 5: - BRANDLO PRINCE dropped back to be last of the four runners early, circled around SET ME FREE to be in third at the 1300m mark then came away from the inside approaching the home turn. He produced a strong finish and drew away to win nicely. HAVE NO FEAR finished in second position after setting up a reasonable speed and CELEBRATION STRIDE was third after trailing the leader throughout. SET ME FREE was in third position but was having trouble keeping up with the pack mid-race and dropped back to be last of the four runners. He dropped away from the main division over the concluding stages.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.3            Final Half: - 59.03           Margins: - 7m, 3m

Trial 6: - BALENCIAGO dropped back to last in the early stages before making his run with 600m remaining. He got away before the home turn then held off the late challenge of FOREGONE CONCLUSION, which finished determinedly after gaining a nice trail (3 back markers, trailed leader at 1300m). SPEED DATING settled down on the back of FOREGONE CONCLUSION and would have finished a lot closer had she not locked wheels with JAZZY BAY (Heston Blue Chip – Jazzy Art 1.57.4, $62,763) on the home turn. JAZZY BAY went very quickly in the early stages to take the lead away from CIVIS ROMANUS (Julius Caesar – Aldebaranblissbomb). He was overtaken coming up to the home turn and was under pressure at the time he locked wheels with SPEED DATING. CIVIS ROMANUS showed gate speed to be vying for the lead in the early stages but he was racing very fiercely. He may have choked down as he was eased to the outside with 1300m remaining and dropped back to last.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.0            Final Half: - 59.55           Margins: - 1.5m, 32m

Trial 7: - CHRISKEN KIOSK began quickly and tried to angle in behind the leader SUGAR HIGH but he was racing keenly and was left stranded without cover. He continued to apply pressure to SUGAR HIGH and eventually got the better of that trotter, racing away over the latter stages. He also won a trial at Shepparton a few days earlier so he has had a good week leading up to his performance at Cranbourne on Tuesday night. SUGAR HIGH was forced to go quickly early but she became a bit leg weary late and finished a distant second. SHEZ A DOOD was in third position but galloped at the bell. The final 800m was run in very slow time but she did pick up a lot of ground over the final stages. ROSIES PRIDE galloped away and was tailed off for the remainder of the trial.

Mile Rate: - 2.8.2            Final Half: - 65.51           Margins: - 52m, 23m

Trial 8: - Abandoned

Trial 9: - SWAYZEE settled four back on the on the markers and made his winning move with 500m remaining. He sprinted quickly out wide on the track, picked up the leaders and won by an increasing margin of five metres and in fast time so he was very impressive. GHOST OF TIME began very quickly and found the lead on the first turn. He set up a genuine tempo and battled on well for second. PLATINUM STRIDE was three back on the markers, came to the outside with 500m remaining and was picking up ground in the straight. SWAYZEE was able to run past him but he still appeared to have something left in reserve at the finish. The leading trio were able to get well clear of DREAMS ARE BETTOR (Artspeak – Delightfullybettor 1.56.9, $34,684), which came from last and was able to pick up OUR ARABELLA, which trailed the leader and TOMMY BLIGH (Highview Tommy – Sheila Blige 1.59.4, $49,144) was the last one to complete the course after pulling hard in the death seat.

Mile Rate: - 1.58.2          Final Half: - 56.38           Margins: - 5m, 1.5m

Trial 10: - YIANNI began fast and was able to burn to the lead in the early stages. He eased off the tempo mid-race then charged away at the finish to win by a large margin and was never extended at any stage. HEZACROCWATCHER showed good gate speed and was able to land the prime position behind YIANNI. He had his chance to finish closer but considering the final 800m was run in a sizzling 55.75 seconds, his effort was still very good sectionally. ROCK N ROLL CHAPEL settled four back on the markers and moved into the one out and one back trail in the back straight. She came out three horses wide on the home turn and worked into third position. PARAMA put in an eye-catching performance to finish fourth. He settled at the tail of the field, angled into the running lane in the back straight and was the widest runner on the home turn. He did an extremely good job to pick up ground over the final stages and is worth following. ROCKINGWITHSIERRA finished fifth after being three back on the markers throughout. MESSERATI settled in fifth position and worked hard in the final 600m after being the first to make a move. He is poorly drawn at Cranbourne on Tuesday night but is not without a chance. TWOFORSIXTY settled second last and moved into the running lane in the back straight (1-2) but couldn’t pick up ground. LADY LAGERTHA saw the field to be safely home after being six back on the markers throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.9            Final Half: - 55.75           Margins: - 9m, 4.5m

BLACKBOOKER: - Parama

Trial 11: - CALF PEN began well and pushed forward to find the lead with 1800m remaining. He always remained in a dominant position and he dashed home in a slick final 800m to win the trial impressively. OUR DOWNUNDER MACH showed very good gate speed to lead early before taking a trail behind CALF PEN. He battled on well for second with SCHNAPPSHOT being in third after settling three back on the markers shortly after the start. SCHNAPPSHOT is poorly drawn but meets a suitable field at Cranbourne on Tuesday night. JUST AS WELL settled six back on the markers, moved up without cover at the 900m and sprinted quickly in the back straight. He started to pace very roughly approaching the home turn and lost his momentum. MAMMA KASS (Rock N Roll Heaven – Star Chaser 2.1.1, $27,883) was in fifth position for the majority of the trial and beat home AUSTRALIANA, which settled down last and IDYLLIC PRINCESS (4 back markers) was the last one to salute the judge.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.9          Final Half: - 56.19           Margins: - 21.5m, 9m

Trial 12: - MITZI SAID showed her natural early brilliance to find the lead shortly after the start before easing for cover. She gained a nice run behind the leader, came to the outside on the home turn and was able to sprint home best. LADY GAR (American Ideal – Im Elsa 1.56.2, $112,754) pushed forward to find the lead and boxed on well in the run to the finish but found MITZI SAID to be too quick up the straight. FLEXI BET (Betting Line – Save Me Christian 1.57.0, $42,862) was without cover early, eased into fourth position and was picking up ground in the final stages. EYE SEE AMOUR (Betting Line – Parfait Amour 1.59.9, $6,025) finished fourth after settling three back on the markers and YERING SOHO (American Ideal – Seshny Bromac 1.53.9, $124,554) was last of the five runners throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.8            Final Half: - 60.23           Margins: - 2m, 10.5m

Trial 13: - VICTREE HILL stepped away nicely from his handicap and was fourth early. He quickly got to third when HOW ABOUT LOUEY broke stride then moved to the outside with 800m remaining. He put pressure on the leader SIX NATIONS in the back straight and drew away to win well. SIX NATIONS began fairly well then pushed forward to find the lead at the 1100m. He finished a distant second at the end but he met a smart horse on the day and he does appear to be a very good chance at Maryborough on Monday after that performance. MIDNIGHT AVENGER (Kvintet Avenger – Rainbowinparadise 2.7.1, $16,770) led out then took a trail and finished in third position. WISHINGNDREAMING (Wishing Stone – Sashas Dream 2.1.8, $22,145) was slow to begin then broke stride 50m after the start. HOW ABOUT LOUEY (Louey Louey Louey – Speedy Jolter 2.6.5, $36,075) stepped away in second position but galloped shortly afterwards and lost all chance.

Mile Rate: - 2.8.5            Final Half: - 58.10           Margins: - 11m, 17m

SHEPPARTON 06/04/21

Trial 1: - OUR CHRISTIANO trailed the leader and used the sprint to get up on the line and defeat REPELLING (Somebeachsomewhere – Repelem 1.52.9, $266,346), which settled four back on the markers and loomed up to win in the straight. DANSDARLINGDI (Four Starzzz Shark – Out Of Rainbow 2.2.3, $6,820) began quickly to find the lead, backed off the tempo mid-race and fought on quite well for a close up third. ROLL WITH RON (Roll With Joe – Clevedon Betty 1.57.2, $22,470) settled five back on the markers and was the widest runner of the competitive chances turning into the front straight. He picked up ground in the run to the finish and wasn’t all that far away from the winner. ARCHAA (A Rocknroll Dance – Shes Pinkalicious) galloped at the start and lost approximately 80m. He did a good job to chase hard and tack onto the group with a lap remaining but the effort took a toll and he tired late. LOCHINVAR JAG certainly didn’t race like a proven winner taking on the qualifiers. He settled three back on the markers but refused to go when asked to extend and lugged right off the track with 300m remaining. He was very wide on the home turn and continued to lose ground hence finishing last of the six runners.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.8            Final Half: - 59.8              Margins: - Neck, 1m

Trial 2: - VIVA LA ROCK settled five back on the markers and moved to the outside with 600m remaining. He sprinted sharply over the latter stages and was able to draw away and win nicely. BENATAR began very quickly and was able to spear to the lead. She got all fired up in the leading role and ensured a genuine tempo throughout. It was a very good effort to finish in second and she can run an improved race at Shepparton this afternoon. CRYSTAL FLAME (Courage Under Fire – Crystal Reign 2.3.3, $33,714) trailed the leader throughout and held on nicely for third, particularly considering she is yet to make her debut and she was taking on the winners of multiple races. ONE TWO MANY settled down last and was the widest runner into the straight. He made up many lengths over the final stages and finished an eye-catching fourth. POWDERKEG settled in sixth position and moved to the outside in the back straight. He held his ground late and finished ahead of SPARKLING SUE which began quickly and eased to be three back on the markers. JACKSON SQUARE was second last and was forced to try and make his run out wide on the track on the home turn. It wasn’t a bad performance despite his finishing position and ROLLING REMONA yielded ground from four back on the markers to finish last, which wasn’t a promising result for her effort at Shepparton this afternoon.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.6            Final Half: - 57.9              Margins: - 10m, 8m

Trial 3: - MEADOWVALLEY LOVER was slow in the score up and missed the start by approximately 10m. She settled five back on the markers and moved up without cover from the bell. She sustained a strong run and was able to cling on and get the prize. TAM OSHANTER settled four back on the markers and came to the outside in the latter stages. He finished off sharply and appeared to have something in reserve so he produced a very good performance. BELLA CONTESSA began quickly and attempted to lead throughout. She copped some pressure from MEADOWVALLEY LOVER in the final circuit and kicked on well for third. ALDEBARAN YAHTZEE was another good effort in the trial. He galloped at the start and missed away by approximately 30m. He was able to catch the field and moved onto the back of MEADOWVALLEY LOVER in the final circuit. He was still a winning chance on the home turn before peaking late. QUAKERS ROYALE (Quaker Jet – Queens Rhapsody 2.4.7, $87,392) settled three back on the markers and beat home LEOTARDANDLACE, which trailed the leader and MILLEE (Rock N Roll Heaven – Jovial Jurno Lombo 1.57.6, $24,898) was tailed off after breaking stride at the start.

Trial 4: - Only two horses contested the standing start trial for the trotters with MULBERRY PIE leading throughout to defeat the qualifier BERRIESANDCHERRIES (Crazed – Meredith Castle 2.0.8, $38,427), which trotted throughout but raced a little greenly. MULBERRY PIE is resuming from a break at Maryborough on Monday.

Mile Rate: - 2.10.2          Final Half: - 59.9              Margin: - 40m

Trial 5: - VINTAGE BLU dropped back into fifth position in the early stages but was racing very fiercely and made a move at the mile marker. He settled better once he found the lead with 1300m remaining and he continued with his better rhythm at the end to win nicely. ZIEGFIELD (Mach Three – Wyperfeld 1.58.7, $91,012) began very fast to drive across and lead from a wide alley. He took a trail mid-race and didn’t shirk the task at the finish, running a game second. JUST A PHILTRA settled in sixth position and moved into the one out and one back trail at the half mile marker. He came out three horses wide at the 300m mark and was doing his best work in the run to the finish. IDEAL CULLECT settled three back on the markers and finished fourth with OUR EDUARO DENARIO being in fifth after trailing the leader early. UP THE ANTE was four back on the inside before moving into the death seat with 800m remaining. He finished sixth with ROCKIN BETTOR being last of the seven runners throughout.

MILDURA 04/04/21 (The results of the Mildura trials did not make it onto the website and the results specified were as broadcast on the morning. Some of the horse names may not be spelled correctly).

Trial 1: - It was a very close finish to the opening trial with GOLDEN SCRIBE just getting the prize. He settled down in sixth position (1-2), came out three horses wide with 300m remaining and was able to grind out a victory. CHILDERS ROAD ran a nice race into second position after beginning quickly and applying pressure to the early leader LOYOLA ROCKNROLLA. He eventually found the lead and kicked on well at the finish. CARAGGIO ESCAPEE settled in the one out and one back trail before coming out three horses wide at the 600m mark. He finished a close third in front of the qualifier LIVING IN MANINKY, which was four back on the markers before coming out wide on the home turn and running home strongly. LOYOLA ROCKNROLLA led out then took a trail and didn’t have much room in the run to the finish. He narrowly beat home AUCKLAND LASS with SHORTYS MATE MAL being the last one home after racing without cover throughout.

Trial 2: - IDRATHER RAHMA began well and was able to angle in behind the leader. He came to the outside on the home turn and dashed well clear in the straight to win with plenty in reserve. He is poorly drawn at Mildura this evening but he performed well enough in the trial to suggest he should be running home well. AUSSIE CASH finished in second after trying to lead throughout and might try and utilize the pole position to hold a forward position in his effort at Mildura this evening. WHERESMILZEE parked up without cover for the duration and finished in third position. HEART OF OPALS gained a one out and one back trail, came to the outside and was picking up ground on the home turn before breaking stride. PRINGA CUP hung out badly on the first turn, checking UNETHICAL, which broke stride. He continued to race greenly and dropped out over the concluding stages. UNETHICAL couldn’t recover after being checked early and was tailed off for the remainder of the trial.

Trial 3: - FOUR STARZZZ RUBY settled down three back on the markers before moving into the running lane in sixth position (1-2) mid-race. She commenced her run with 500m remaining and got home best to get the prize. She makes her debut at Mildura this evening and appears to have some chance on her trial victory. EEZEE STREET raced in the one out and one back trail before moving up to join the leader turning out of the back straight on the final occasion. He kicked on well in the run to the finish and was second past the post. He competes in the same race as FOUR STARZZZ RUBY tonight at Mildura. OUTA CONTROL had enough early speed to lead but was content to take cover behind ULTIMATE PLEASURE. He was slightly inconvenienced when the leader started to tire in the back straight but quickly worked away from the inside and finished off nicely late. UNETHICAL was backing up from the previous trial and did everything right in fourth position. She settled fourth back on the markers, came to the outside in the final stages and worked home reasonably well late. WHITE STAR VILLAGE was last in the running lane and switched back to the markers mid-race. He was held up for a run at a vital stage and was finishing off fast to be in a photo for fifth and sixth with SHADOW TERROR, which parked without cover and tired late. IM JIMMYS GIRL settled seventh on the outside (1-3) and may have been able to get past the early leader ULTIMATE PLEASURE. HIDDEN FIGURE struck early bother and lost all chance.

Trial 4: - COME ON ELVIS led out then took a trail behind COCO BEACH. He came to the outside on the home turn and finished off strongly to grab victory on the line. He returns from a break at Mildura this evening and appears to be a winning chance on that performance. COCO BEACH pushed forward to find the lead and was in front all of the way down the straight before being nabbed on the line. HIGH CHAIR was three back on the markers before moving into the one out and one back trail. He came out three horses wide approaching the home turn and finished on reasonably for third. HEART OF COOPER settled down last of the four runners, moved up without cover at the bell and peaked on his run from the home turn.
