Trots ambassadors call for PCFA support on ‘Dollar Match Day’

Tomorrow is the time to dig deep and support The Long Trot, Victorian harness racing’s initiative to help raise funds and awareness for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

Friday is Dollar Match Day, when all donations will be doubled thanks to Telix, and Harness Racing Victoria ambassador Greg Sugars urged trots fans to lend their support.

“We’ve already raised quite a bit of money, I think well over $10,000, and there’s still plenty of time left in the month to raise some more,” Sugars said.

The Double Match Day will be followed by a further special race night at Tabcorp Park Melton on Saturday, when representatives from the foundation will attend.

A terrific feature of the night will see harness racing trainer Shane Gallagher, who has battled with prostate cancer, steer HRV Hero ambassador Smudge Bromac in double-seater sulky rides ahead of the night’s first three races.

He will be joined by in the double-seater sulky by foundation representatives including PCFA community engagement manager Chris Harding, who will also join the TrotsVision panel during the night to talk about the fundraiser and the night.

“We urge everyone to get behind it,” Sugars said. “Hopefully everyone can dig deep and raise much-needed funds for this wonderful cause.”
