Vale Bob Watson

Cobram Harness Racing Club and the wider trots community is mourning the loss of Bob Watson, a tireless and lauded harness racing administrator.

Mr Watson sadly passed on Saturday, with the Cobram club paying tribute to its long-serving secretary/manager and life member, who “worked tirelessly to make Cobram Harness Racing Club the facility it is today”.

“Bob will be sadly missed by all,” a club statement said. “The club and the committee passes our condolences on to Margaret and the entire Watson family and friends. RIP Bob.”

Mr Watson’s tireless work to advance the sport and club would see him awarded the Frank Ryan Memorial Secretary of the Year honour on Gordon Rothacker Medal night, recognition of his efforts as the central point of the club.

Mr Watson was responsible for a range of significant improvements at Cobram, including overseeing infrastructure works, development of the stabling complex, managing social media streams, organising the club’s very successful Cobram pacing cup day, as well as playing a major part in implementing the amazing Cobram Pink Day, which raised extraordinary sums for Breast Cancer Research.

Harness Racing Victoria extends its condolences to Mr Watson’s family and friends.
