Long-time Goulburn Valley (Mooroopna) participant Garnet (Garney) Boyd passed away on Monday August 8 aged 81.
Garnet was a former trainer, driver and stud master.
Along with his son Lance he trained a small team including Another Idea, Harrison Be, Mighty Antrim, Heez The Man, Carlie Hanover, Bridie Hanover and A La Cam and was a regular at most Shepparton meetings. He also stood stallions General Idea and Please Note.
Garnet was an outstanding sportsman in his younger days and had he pursued this could possibly have made an elite football standard.
His funeral will be held this Friday from 3.30pm at Merritt Funeral Services, 10-16 Macisaac Rd, Mooroopna.
