Vale Gordon Bubb

It’s sad to report the passing of one of Victoria’s most passionate harness racing followers in Rochester’s Gordon Bubb.

Aged 86, Gordon passed last Friday, April 10 after a lengthy illness.

Gordon loved a punt, and bred and raced many horses over the years such as National Lobell, Glenferrie Bronte, Swaydepete, Natural Belle, Storm Orphan and Sunset Delight.

He was also associated with many of the top echelon of drivers in the halcyon years and modern era including Don Guy, Graeme Johannesson and Ken Wills (all deceased), plus Russ Thomson, Neville Welsh, Chris Hildebrandt, Amanda Turnbull and Nathan Jack.

His lifetime friend and close neighbour/associate Dawn Leppard would be seen with him on a regular basis at many Victorian and Riverina tracks.

Gordon’s funeral will be a graveside service at Rochester Cemetery, starting at 11am this Thursday, April 16.

Harness Racing Victoria Chairman Bernard Saundry, on behalf of the board and entire industry, extends sincere condolences to Gordon’s family and friends.
