Vale Max Blake

Echuca Harness Racing Club is saddened by the passing of Max Blake on Thursday April 7 after a short period of ill health.

Max trained horses for a hobby for most of his life and retired in the 2012-13 season, having had five winners from 130 starts.

Gentleman Jed won twice for him while Another Aussie, Devil Lamass and Cycling Scott also scored. His horses meant a lot to him and kept him very fit and active.

Max was at Echuca when the club was in its infancy and did a lot of work helping it establish, attending working bees regularly along with his family.

Max was a life member of the club and until recently was active as its time keeper at trials as well as a regular attendee at race meetings.

His family maintains an interest in harness racing and the club, where his grandson, Dallas McIntyre, trains horses and is a committee member.

The funeral for Max will be held at Tobin Brothers Funeral Home Echuca on Thursday April 14 at 2pm.

The club and Harness Racing Victoria offers its sincere condolences to his family and friends at this time.
