The harness racing industry is deeply saddened by the passing of Stephenie Moody, a valued and much-loved volunteer of the Bendigo Harness Racing Club.

Steph gave more than seven years of dedicated service to the club, where she was a regular in the tearoom during race nights supporting the Ladies Auxiliary, and later helping in the Acceptance Office at Monday night trials.

“Steph has been volunteering in a couple of different roles during the seven years I’ve been at the club, so I believe she may have been involved even longer than that,” BHRC General Manager Erik Hendrix said.

“She was a great person to have around and was well loved. Nothing was ever too hard for her and she was always happy to help out. That’s the kind of person she was and we are all very saddened by her passing.

“We will miss her, and I’m sure many members and people in the industry will miss her friendly face at trial nights on Mondays.”

Steph passed peacefully in her sleep, aged 31. She was the beloved daughter of Kellie, the first grandchild of Bill and Marg, a loved niece to Bill, Linda, Shannon and Michael, and a fun cousin to Lachlan, Jupiter, Jimmy and Ella.

A celebration of Steph’s life will be held at the Bendigo Harness Racing Club, 646 McIvor Hwy, Junortoun on Friday, July 11 at 1pm. All are welcome.

“It would be great if people could arrive at 12.45pm and make their way upstairs for the service to remember Steph,” Hendrix said.
