Vicbred vouchers a boost for APG mixed online sale

The fine gesture of Harness Racing Victoria to extend the use of $5,000 Vicbred vouchers awarded to the winners of select races over the past eight months to purchase Vicbred weanlings, yearlings and in-foal broodmares at mixed sales has provided a timely boost for the Australian Pacing Gold autumn online mixed sale this weekend.

Holders of the vouchers can redeem them by purchasing Vicbred Platinum/Pure weanlings and yearlings as well as in-foal Vicbred mares, provided they were foaled down in Victoria. The vouchers also can be used towards the service fee for a Victorian-based stallion.

More than 270 of the $5,000 vouchers have been won by 150 different owners since HRV and the State Government’s $2.75 million breeder bonus scheme was announced last year.

Five of the 55 lots catalogued for the APG online sale are Vicbred eligible.

Among the listings are 2 weanlings, 1 yearling and two in-foal mares.

An E L Titan colt from a half-sister to The Locomotive and Dance Craze, an E L Titan colt closely related to Jilliby Ballerini and a Tintin In America grandson of the Oaks winner Nickle Miss comprise the yearling draft.

Monsoon Matilda, a young Bettor’s Delight mare from the broodmare hen Sugarland, the dam of the dual Breeders Crown champion Hurricane Harley, heads up the list of Vicbred voucher eligible broodmares. She is carrying a positive test to Always B Miki.

The broodmare listings also include the dual APG Sales Graduate placegetter Harley Blue, a Badlands Hanover mare who has been served by Ride High.

The catalogue with pedigrees, photos and eligibilities can be viewed at the website apgold.com.au

Bidding opens at 12 noon on Sunday, May 24 and closes at 5pm on Monday, May 25.
