Anton Golino may have as many as eight runners in next Friday night’s Aldebaran Park Vicbred Super Series finals at Tabcorp Park Melton.
Golino has qualified a long list of rising talents and has drawn favourably at the barrier draws with Always Ready in the 2YO colts and geldings’ division and Pretty Majestic in the three-year-old fillies’ to both start from pole.
Trainer Andy Gath has five runners on finals night but will have to overcome some awkward barrier draws.
Gath’s phenomenally talented but at times obstinate Posseidon was set a huge task after pulling gate 13 at last night’s live-streamed draws from Melton for the for 4YO males’ division, but the Long Forest horseman had better luck with Dream Mastar capturing barrier three in the 2YO colts and geldings.
David Jack didn’t have the best of luck either at the barrier draw, with all three of his highly rated young squaregaiters – Moreton Bay (2YO boys), Sciamachy (2YO fillies) and Princess Mila (3YO fillies) – to start from the back row in their respective finals.
Meanwhile, Wobelee will start from gate 10 in the 3YO boys’ final for Alison and Chris Alford and Margaret Ruth for Anne-Maree Conroy has barrier six in the 4YO mares’ division.
The Aldebaran Park Vicbred Super Series finals will be the highlights on a huge Friday night program at Tabcorp Park Melton, which will be followed on Saturday night by the Empire Stallions Vicbred Super Series Pacing finals.
