WATCH: Chariots, Miracle Mile key goals for Captain Ravishing

Captain Ravishing is taking it easy after his phenomenal track record run on Saturday night, but trainers Emma Stewart and Clayton Tonkin are already eyeing next year’s Chariots of Fire and Miracle Mile for harness racing’s new pin-up horse.

Despite sitting parked on a wet Melton night, the son of Captaintreacherous set a new benchmark for the Tabcorp Park 2240m trip when he won the Group 1 Breeders Crown Series 3YO Colts and Geldings Final by almost 30m in 1:51.1.

It was a performance that stunned the harness racing world and left fans craving more from the lightly-raced youngster.

“He’ll have a let-up now and his main goal will be the Chariots of Fire,” Tonkin said.

“We are just going to see how he is this week. To be honest with you, he’s pulled up jumping out of his skin.

“We are going to give him a quiet week. He might water-walk after that for a week… we’ll work back from the dates with the Chariots of Fire, but that’s our main aim.”

Tonkin also put the Miracle Mile and a possible clash with stablemate Ladies In Red on the radar.

“When it comes down to it, we are going to do what’s best for the horse but it would be lovely to go Chariots of Fire and Miracle Mile…”

The Chariots of Fire, for four-year-old pacers, is scheduled for February 18 and the Miracle Mile for March 4. Both races will be held at Menangle.

Captain Ravishing’s career record now stands at eight wins from 12 career starts, with $178,140 in prizemoney.
