Young Guns glory caps stellar season for Tasmyn Potter

Talented reinswoman Tasmyn Potter has ended 2025 on a ‘surreal’ note.

Competing against Victoria’s top 10 concession drivers in Melton last night, Potter outscored her opponents to capture the Garrard’s Horse And Hound Young Guns Series.

Displaying incredible prowess in the sulky, Potter amassed 72 points to claim the title, with Luke Dunne on 67 and Liam Older on 64 rounding out the top three.

Potter’s tally was aided by a winning double, a pair of seconds and a third.

“I was confident with a couple of my drives before the night, not overly confident, but happy with them,” Potter said. “To win a series like this is just amazing…I couldn’t be happier.”

Along with bragging rights, Potter’s prize kitty includes an all-expenses paid trip to America, where she will spend time with ex-patriot Aussies Shane and Lauren Tritton in New York.

“I’m very grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to enjoy the experience,” Potter said.

Adding cream to Potter’s night is her winning effort behind Interpretation being judged ‘Drive of the Night’.

Eased to the tail of the field from barrier seven, Interpretation was weaved through traffic turning for home before completing a $19 upset.

In what can be best described as a Gavin Lang-style drive, the quietly-spoken Potter was modest about her performance.

“I went to go wide down the back, but traffic was there, so I went back down the middle and the gaps just opened up at the right time,” Potter explained.

The Young Guns Series caps a stellar season for Potter, who surpassed 100 wins in the sulky last month.
