Maryborough and Shepparton meetings cancelled

Tomorrow’s harness racing meetings in Victoria have been cancelled due to the state’s significant fire danger.

Harness Racing Victoria today confirmed that Wednesday’s races at Maryborough (day) and Shepparton (night) have been called off after reviewing information from the Victorian Government and agencies such as the Country Fire Authority and Vic Emergencies.

“The weather conditions forecast for Victoria tomorrow make this an extremely dangerous day for our state, and while cancelling race meetings is never ideal, the safety of horses and participants must be top priority,” HRV Head of Racing Greg Gangle said.

“Given the circumstances, we must enact our Extreme Weather Policy.”

Racing in Mildura will go ahead as planned tonight before Victoria’s next meeting at Ballarat’s Bray Raceway on Thursday evening.
